2 killed in 2 separate crashes in western Wisconsin within minutes of each other
The Dunn County Sheriff's Office says the first crash happened at approximately 9:25 p.m. on 960th Street, south of 1010th Street in Spring Brook.
Upon arrival, deputies found a 1961 Keep in the ditch that had struck a tree and caught on fire. Bystanders were able to put out the fire, authorities say, and only a tire had been damaged by the flames.
The Jeep sustained significant damage and the driver, a 36-year-old from Durand, had been trapped inside the vehicle, according to the sheriff's office. First responders determined he was already dead by the time they arrived.
Authorities say a preliminary investigation shows the Jeep had been southbound on 960th Street when it appears to have had a mechanical failure, causing the driver to lose control. The vehicle entered the ditch on the northbound lane of the road, partially rolled and struck a tree.
Two minutes later, the Dunn County Sheriff's Office says deputies responded to a head-on crash on state Highway 79 north of 790th Avenue in Sherman.
Deputies arrived to find a 2015 Chevy Silverado in the southbound ditch and a 2006 Pontiac G6 in the northbound ditch.
The driver of the Pontiac, a 36-year-old woman from Boyceville, had been entrapped in the vehicle and died, authorities say. The lone occupant of the pick-up truck was transported by helicopter to the hospital. His condition is unknown.
Investigators believe the Pontiac had been traveling northbound on Highway 79 when it crossed the center line and hit the Chevy head-on.
The two crashes occurred about 25 miles apart from each other.
The identities of the deceased will be released after the families are notified.

Postal inspectors investigating fiery car crash at California post office as an intentional act
SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) — The U.S. Postal Inspection Service said Monday it is investigating a fiery car crash at a San Jose, California, post office over the weekend as a potentially intentional act. Richard Tillman, 44, of San Jose was arrested after the car rammed into the office located in a strip mall around 3 a.m. Sunday, causing the building to go up in flames, San Jose police said. No injuries were reported. About 50 firefighters took about an hour and a half to knock down the flames at the Almaden Valley Station Post Office south of downtown. Photos posted online by the fire department showed a charred vehicle inside the heavily damaged one-story building. Tillman was booked on suspicion of arson. He was held in lieu of $60,000 bail and was scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday, according to online custody records. A phone number could not be located for Tillman. Messages were sent to the Santa Clara County District Attorney asking if Tillman has an attorney. Postal inspectors are investigating the incident as a 'potentially intentional act,' said U.S. Postal Inspector Michael Martel. There was no information about a possible motive. Nearly 2 million people live in the metropolitan area of San Jose, about 50 miles (80 kilometers) south of downtown San Francisco.

Second adult charged in connection to abduction of Jamal White, 7
A second adult faces kidnapping charges in the July 11 abduction of seven-year-old Jamal White. Jamal, known as Baby J, was abducted at gunpoint from outside his father's house. He was recovered the following day, less than 24 hours after Milwaukee Police Department designated him as "critically missing" and an Amber alert was issued. Corey Williams, 25, was arrested on July 13 from the house where Jamal was found, and criminal charges were filed against him the next day. On July 15, Fabian Johnson, 38, was arrested in connection with the abduction. Johnson was charged Sunday with being a party to the crime of kidnapping by forcibly seizing or confining another individual. According to a Milwaukee Police Department detective's interview with Williams quoted in criminal complaints filed against Johnson and Williams, the two men and an unnamed 14-year-old companion planned to rob Jamal's mother at gunpoint at her home. Williams said that both Johnson and the 14-year-old wore masks and brought guns, and that the three drove in a borrowed white Jeep. When they arrived at Jamal's mother's home and did not see her, the 14-year-old suggested that they try to rob Jamal's father at his home instead. When they arrived, they saw Jamal riding his bike outside the home. Williams noted in the interview that Jamal's father was also outside at that time. According to the complaint, Johnson and the 14-year-old left the Jeep carrying hand guns and ran at Jamal's father, who ran into the house. The 14-year-old then grabbed Jamal and took him into the Jeep. The group then drove to Williams' residence. Later that night, Williams recalled, Johnson called Jamal's mother and demanded $100,000 and jewelry in exchange for Jamal, offering to meet at a nearby park.
