John Torode looks serious in first public appearance since MasterChef sacking
The TV presenter and chef, 60, was removed from the cooking competition alongside his co-host Gregg Wallace, also 60, earlier this month.
Wallace stepped away from MasterChef in November last year as an in-depth investigation was conducted into the historical allegations regarding his behaviour on the show.
It was found that 45 out of 83 allegations were upheld following the investigation, with Wallace saying he was 'deeply sorry' for his past actions but insisted the most serious allegations were unproven.
Days later, it emerged that co-host Torode's contract would not be renewed after nine complaints were lodged against him – among which was a claim that he 'used the N-word' on two separate occasions.
Torode's removal as presenter – which was confirmed on July 14 – came in spite of his insistence that he had no memory of either incident ever taking place.
Now, just over a week later, he's been spotted out in public for the first time since it was revealed that he was also investigated as part of the Silkins report.
He was spotted on Wednesday July 23 on his 60th birthday visiting an organic food store near his home in north London.
A source told The Sun that John had decided to have 'a quiet birthday meal' with his wife Lisa Faulkner and some close friends, adding: 'It's been an incredibly difficult time for him.'
Accompanying Torode was his family dog, Rory, a schnauzer, with the TV host holding Rory's lead in one hand and a reusable blue and white shopping bag in the other.
He opted for casual clothes, donning a navy blue t-shirt and matching blue jogging trousers, completing his look with black and white trainers.
In the images taken on Wednesday, Torode appeared not to acknowledge the photographers, choosing instead to carry on with his day as normal.
Despite the revelations of the investigation, the BBC has said that the series of MasterChef filmed before Wallace and Torode's sackings will air as normal.

A BBC spokesperson said: 'After careful consideration and consultation with the contestants, we have decided to broadcast the amateur series of MasterChef on BBC One and BBC iPlayer from August 6.
'MasterChef is an amazing competition which is life-changing for the amateur chefs taking part. The focus of it has always been their skill and their journey.' More Trending
The spokesperson revealed that it had 'not been an easy decision in the circumstances' and acknowledged that not everyone would agree with the final result.
They added: 'In showing the series, which was filmed last year, it in no way diminishes our view of the seriousness of the upheld findings against both presenters.
'We have been very clear on the standards of behaviour that we expect of those who work at the BBC or on shows made for the BBC.'

Calling it the 'right thing to do' for the cooks to be 'properly recognised', the BBC did qualify that the fate of the celebrity series and two Christmas special episodes featuring Torode was uncertain.

Cat named Leonardo da Pinchy terrorises town by stealing people's underwear
To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video A cheeky cat called Leonardo da Pinchi has been stealing pants and socks from his neighbours. His relentless laundry raids have made him quite the notorious celebrity in Mairangi Bay, New Zealand. The 15-month-old feline thief has expensive taste too – seeking out silk boxer shorts and thick men's work socks, often with the clothes pegs still attached. He's even stolen a brand-new $300 NZD (£134) cashmere sweater. His criminal life first started when he was let outdoors for the first time last year. The problem has got out of hand for his owner Helen North who struggles to manage her cat's kleptomania. She said: 'My daughter was at home sick and she rang me at work saying, 'It's bad, it's bad, this is the worst thing he's brought in, it's really bad,' she said. 'Because it was beautiful. I was like, 'Ooh, can I keep that?' But I couldn't.' To Helen's horror, the stolen stash just keeps growing – everything from piles of socks, loads of underwear, and even a bizarre five-foot-long stuffed snake. Leo's record so far in one day is nine stolen items. Helen continued: 'He brought in a jersey this morning at ten past eight. The shops hadn't even opened.' Helen has tried everything under the sun to stop his thieving habits including keeping him indoors to leaving out clothes at home for him to steal. She said: 'He only wants stuff that he shouldn't have.' She has no choice now but to post photos of his loot on a local Facebook page, along with an apology and her address. A woman recognised her pink and purple underpants, and a boy was reunited with his missing sports jersey. More Trending One of Leo's regular targets is allergic to cats and she is forced to dry her washing indoors. 'All of our neighbours think he's amazing,' she said. 'Some of them are quite put out that he hasn't actually stolen anything of theirs.' Helen hopes that this is just a childhood phase for Leo and that he will grow out of it. She added: 'I hope he grows out of it because I don't want to do this for like, 15 years. This is a lot of admin.' Vicky McClure issues four-word statement on Line of Duty rumours
Vicky McClure issued a four-word statement on the possibility of Line of Duty season seven after her co-star Adrian Dunbar said the show is poised to return next year after being left 'frustrated' by the finale. The pair appeared in Jed Mercurio's BBC crime drama as DI Kate Fleming and Superintendent Ted Hastings respectively from 2012 to 2021. Dunbar told The Times: "We're really excited about getting our hands on a Line of Duty script, to see what happens to us. 'Jed is writing. We've talked to the BBC." The series ended after the identity of "H" — a corrupt senior police officer — was revealed. "There's nothing to say," McClure told The One Show on Friday (1 August).
