Coronation Street fans call for Sally and Tim Metcalfe's protection as their future unfolds

Daily Mirror17-07-2025
Coronation Street viewers were left convinced that Sally and Tim Metcalfe's future has been 'confirmed' following recent scenes, with some fans comparing them to a legendary Weatherfield couple
Coronation Street devotees are pleading with the showrunners to 'shield' Sally and Tim Metcalfe from any potential harm, as their future seems to be set in stone.
In recent episodes of the popular ITV soap, audiences have watched as Tim has been trying to persuade his wife Sally to consider fostering. This idea was sparked by Tim's desire to assist Mason Radcliffe, a young lad who tragically lost his life earlier this year after being stabbed by his own brother.
Initially, Sally was resistant to the idea, given that they both have careers and lives outside of raising their own children. However, Tim went behind Sally's back and arranged a meeting about fostering, much to her astonishment.
Tim's eagerness to support children was further demonstrated when he helped Lou Michaelis and her two little girls escape from her violent husband Mick in his taxi. This occurred shortly after Mick had brutally murdered PC Craig Tinker whilst on duty.
Subsequently, Tim arranged a meeting with social services to discuss the possibility of becoming a foster parent. Although Sally was initially upset that he had done this without discussing it with her, she eventually warmed to the idea, reports the Manchester Evening News.
Now, she has firmly committed to caring for the Michaelis children, making her intentions clear during a confrontation with Mick following his recent prison escape.
As fans of the ITV soap will know, Mick masterminded his own jailbreak, hiding under a laundry van before later emerging onto the street.
In league with Brody, the teenager alerted him to his daughter Joanie's presence at Weatherfield High, where she was having a trial day and being bullied by other children. He promptly arrived at the school.
However, Sally had already collected Joanie after the young girl was upset by the children's remarks about her parents, given that Lou is now also incarcerated for her assault on Gary Windass.
Daniel Osbourne and Mrs Crawshaw were taken aback when they encountered Mick, who demanded they hand over Joanie. A frightened Mrs Crawshaw informed Mick that Joanie had already been collected, but he didn't believe her, leading to a struggle over the phone.
After locking Mrs Crawshaw and Daniel in the office, Mick made his way to the street, where Sally was showing Joanie around Underworld. DC Kit Green, aware of Mick's escape, was hot on his trail and spotted his old friend heading towards the factory.
Mick took Tim and Sarah Platt hostage in the office, and as Kit followed, tensions escalated between the adversaries when Mick realised that Sally had smuggled Joanie onto the roof in an attempt to flee.
Sally was seen comforting the young girl as pandemonium ensued in the factory below, with Mick stabbing Kit and leaving him fighting for his life as he ascended to the roof, where Sally was able to calmly confront him with some hard truths.
In her parting words to Mick, Sally vowed to take care of Joanie and Shanice, promising a brighter future for the girls as he surrendered to the police.
Meanwhile, Lou remains incarcerated, and she's told Brody that her chances of release before the trial are slim. Upcoming Corrie spoilers have revealed that she's likely to remain in custody after attempting to extort Gary, which led to his assault and subsequent secret coma in hospital.
Coronation Street enthusiasts have been quick to speculate on what lies ahead for Tim and Sally, with some fans drawing parallels to a legendary Weatherfield duo.
@cupofteakim tweeted: "The way sally and tim are becoming the new jack and vera. why are they taking in every child may i ask? #Corrie."
@DavidHe47935675 shared: "Sally and Tim are well adopting those weans #Corrie."
@ElleLou22 expressed: "I really hope sally and Tim adopt the girls #corrie."
@beetlegirl6 declared: "Protect Sally and Tim at all cost...don't care what happens to anybody else really.#corrie."
@VanitySwarla voiced support: "I am so here for Sally and Tim being parents to the two girls #corrie."

Colson Smith makes awkward Jack P Shepherd wedding blunder after being made best man

Coronation Street star Jack P Shephard wed his fiancee Hanni in a stunning ceremony in Manchester this weekend as he made Colson Smith his best man before an awkward blunder Jack P Shepherd's former Coronation Street co-star Colson Smith found himself in an awkward mistake as he celebrated his wedding. The David Platt actor, 37, married his fiancee Hanni Treweek on Saturday in a stunning ceremony surrounded by their nearest and dearest. ‌ They wed at Manchester Cathedral in front of their friends, family and Jack's Corrie co-stars. Jack and Hanni then headed over to a swanky hotel in the city were the party continued into the evening. ‌ However, it seems the partying may have been too much for Colson as he took to social media the following day. The former Craig Tinker star took on a very special role of being part of Jack's groomsmen for the wedding. ‌ He was by Jack's side as he said his vows and became a married man. Just before the ceremony, Jack posed for a photo with Colson as they soaked up the moment together. Colson has since shared the snap on his Instagram, but his caption caught the attention of his fans. The Celebrity Big Brother star wrote: "26/8/2025 The Shepherd Wedding." ‌ However, many quickly realised Colson had got the date wrong by a month. In the awkward moment, it seemed Colson wanted to quickly correct the mistake as he then shared a blank screen and commented: "Or 26/7/2025," followed by an upside down emoji. Despite Colson's mistake, it didn't stop Jack and Hanni from having the best day of their lives. They hired out the swanky Hallé St Peter's in the city for their reception, where they were joined by even more of their friends and family. Amongst the guests were Lucy Fallon, Tina O'Brien and Julia Golding. Jack's on-screen mum Helen Worth also looked a picture of happiness as she walked hand-in-hand with her husband towards the venue. ‌ Jack and Hanni performed their first dance after they revealed they took up dance lessons to prepare for their big day and it certainly paid off. The newlyweds strutted their stuff on the dancefloor before they were joined by their guests to party the night away along to a live band. On Sunday, bride Hanni took to her social media for the first time to share a message as a wife. She posted a series of romantic snaps from the day and gushed: "Introducing Mr & Mrs Shepherd. "Words cannot describe how beautiful yesterday was for us - it was more than perfect the love & energy in the room (and outside) was incredible - our hearts our truly full thank you so much to you all - it means the world to us. "Love is all you need x It took a whole team - a team we couldn't be happier with, thank you so much - we are literally in awe of how talented you all are."
