Tribals pray for cattle's safety during Akadi Puja in Hyderabad
As part of the ritual, a line is drawn with turmeric powder on the ground, and all cattle are made to cross it. The villagers pray to forest spirits, wild animals and insects, seeking their goodwill and protection for the cattle that graze in the forest. 'We ask the forest and its creatures to treat our cattle as their own and protect them from harm,' said Thodasam Kailash, a resident.
The preparations began a day earlier, with the village patel informing residents about the puja. At dawn, one person from each household gathered with offerings and walked to the forest.
There, they performed rituals for Rajula Devara, cooked sweet rice (Naivedyam) and first served it to the cattle grazers. Only after they had eaten did the rest of the villagers share the meal, before returning home.

Kanaka Durga temple will conduct re-consecration of ‘Navagraha Mandapam' from June 3, says Executive Officer
Sri Durga Malleswara Swamyvarla Devasathanam will conduct the re-consecration (punah prathistha) of the 'Navagraha Mandapam' atop Indrakeeladri, the abode of goddess Kanaka Durga, on June 3, 4 and 5. Addressing a press conference here on Monday, Kanaka Durga temple Executive Officer V.K. Seena Naik said that the temple management is aiming to complete the Annadanam Building and Laddu Preparation Unit to operationalise them by Dasara. The Stone Yagasala and Puja Mandapams will be made available by the month of Shravan. Buses will be arranged from the Bus Station, Railway Station, and Punnami Ghat to Indrakeeladri Hill for devotees' convenience. Steps are being taken to resolve traffic issues on the hill, he said. The EO said that the temple has chalked out plans for the expansion of Durga Ghat. Measures are being taken to expand and further develop Durga Ghat. Referring to the parking arrangement, he said that a 4-acre holding area is being developed near Seethamma Vari Paadalu for vehicles. If necessary, an additional holding area will be arranged at the TTD site, near Kummari Palem Centre. VIP darshan Mr. Seena Naik said that the temple is regulating the VIP darshan atop Indrakeealdri. The VIP darshans are suspended daily from 11.30 a.m. to 1.30 p.m. due to Naivedyam (offering to the Goddess). It was personally observed that halting the queue during this time caused inconvenience to elderly, disabled persons, and children. Hence, VIP darshan timings are being regularised. A detailed format is being used to collect information regarding VIP visitors for darshan, he added.
