Colby Covington only wants legacy fights, interested in 'weight bully' Paddy Pimblett

USA Today21 hours ago
Colby Covington has his sights set on one of the biggest stars in the UFC.
Covington (17-5 MMA, 12-5 UFC) hasn't competed since a stoppage loss to Joaquin Buckley in the UFC on ESPN 63 headliner last December. The former interim welterweight champion is no longer looking to face rising contenders and wants established names only.
"I'm not done with the UFC. I still have some unfinished business, but I want big fights – high-level, first-ballot Hall of Famer type fights ... legacy fights.," Covington said in an interview with Matan Even.
After coaching opposite side Covington as assistants on Season 33 of "The Ultimate Fighter," Michael Chiesa was hoping to draw Covington next. However, "Chaos" has turned his attention to Paddy Pimblett (23-3 MMA, 7-0 UFC), who he had an altercation with during UFC 314.
"I think the Paddy Pimblett fight is interesting," Covington said. "He's got a little bit of a name right now, but only because he's got an English accent and a bowl cut. He's actually bigger than me. He's a weight bully. He cuts a lot of weight."
However, Pimblett appears to have bigger attention to attend to after facing off with newly crowned lightweight champion Ilia Topuria after Saturday's UFC 317 main event at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

UFC contender Youssef Zalal itching to fight again in 2025, calls out Josh Emmett

Youssef Zalal wants to test himself with one of the biggest punchers in the UFC's featherweight division. LAS VEGAS – Youssef Zalal is getting itchy knuckles, and wants to get back in the cage as soon as possible. The streaking UFC featherweight contender has yet to book his second fight of 2025, and is already growing a bit restless, given he last fought in February. Speaking with MMA Junkie, Zalal (17-5-1 MMA, 7-3-1 UFC), who's on a seven-fight win streak, pitched veteran Josh Emmett to be his dance partner for his return to the octagon. "I hope the Josh Emmett fight can happen," Zalal told MMA Junkie Radio ahead of UFC 317. The Emmett callout is not personal, it's just what Zalal sees feasible at this point. There's a lot of moving pieces in the featherweight division, and several booked bouts. Zalal sees Emmett is one of the few top contenders he has a lot to gain from, who's currently not booked to fight. "I want to be the best in the world," Zalal said. "I want to be the world champion and I will be a world champion, so for me, we need that. I feel like the only way to climb up is to fight the top guys. For me, I'm just trying to climb up in the rankings, so hopefully that happens. Everybody else is booked or starting to get booked. They said Arnold Allen might fight Lerone Murphy, that there are talks about. Yair (Rodriguez) might fight or the belt, and you've got everybody else fighting, so the only one guy that doesn't have a fight in the top 10 is Josh Emmett." Zalal really hopes to make the Emmett fight happen this year. He's not too happy with his current level of activity, but understands the politics side to the game. "I hope so – that's the goal," Zalal said when asked about a 2025 return. "It's more politics. Movsar (Evloev), I think, is the best guy in the division so far that deserves a title shot and hasn't gotten a title shot, and he's fighting a guy that's not even ranked, that's not even in the UFC. It's all about politics in this game. You go out there and do something crazy, it gives you attention."

Olivia Rodrigo Makes First Post With Boyfriend Louis Partridge After Glastonbury originally appeared on Parade. Love may be embarrassing, but that doesn't seem to be keeping Olivia Rodrigo from making her relationship Instagram official. After almost two years of rumors and hopeful speculation from adoring fans, Olivia Rodrigo, 22, confirmed that English actor, Louis Partridge, 22, is most definitely her boyfriend in an Instagram post recounting her wildly successful weekend headlining Glastonbury Music Festival. The caption on Rodrigo's post reads, "glasto. best weekend there ever was. so happy and grateful🌼🌼🌼." And, while it might look like she's only talking about her performance at first, fans who scrolled through the carousel took note of the short video on the 8th slide, the clip of the Vampire singer on the shoulders of none other than Louis Partridge, rocking out in the crowd. Rodrigo's Lowercase shades may be shielding her eyes from the hot Glastonbury sun, but blissful, unadulterated joy is written all over her face. Over the weekend, Olivia Rodrigo performed an iconic headlining set, during which she invited '80s legend Robert Smith of the Cure to join her on stage. The pair performed two of Smith's greatest hits from the Cure's discography: Friday I'm In Love and Just Like Heaven. Fans raced to the comments to celebrate the couple's launch. "THE 8TH SLIDE OMG HELLO LOUIS WE FINALLY GOT HALF HIS FACE ON OLIVIA'S FEED WE WON😭," commented one fan, who had absolutely no chill, but in the best possible way. While rumors have surrounded Rodrigo and Partridge for the better part of the last two years, this is the first time Rodrigo has shared anything about her relationship on social media. Partridge also made a point of posting about Rodrigo on his own Instagram account, praising her performance and her work ethic both on and off-stage. "You are the sweetest most supportive boyfriend and I love the two of you together! ❤️❤️❤️" wrote a commenter on Partridge's post.
