Deepika to be honoured with Hollywood Walk of Fame star

Los Angeles [US], July 3 (ANI): It's a proud moment for India as Deepika Padukone has been chosen as a recipient of prestigious Hollywood Walk of Fame star in the coming year.
On Wednesday, Deepika's name along with other renowned personalities from the worlds of recordings, motion pictures, television, live theater/live performance and sports entertainment, were announced at a live press conference from Ovation Hollywood, Billboard reported.
Miley Cyrus, Timothee Chalamet, Hollywood actress Emily Blunt, French actress Cotillard, Canadian actress Rachel McAdams, Italian actor Franco Nero, and celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay will also be honoured with a Hollywood Walk of Fame star.
Deepika's fans have been going gaga ever since the news broke out.
Notably, in 2017, Deepika made her Hollywood debut 'xXx: Return Of Xander Cage'. She has also been featured in TIME's 100 most influential people list and Variety's International Women's Impact Report.
She has also made remarkable appearances at the Cannes Film Festival and Met Gala in previous years.
The honorees were selected by the Walk of Fame selection panel of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce from 'hundreds' of nominations at a meeting on June 20.
The selections were ratified by the Chamber's board of directors on June 25.
'We are excited to announce the newest selections of 35 esteemed individuals who will be enshrined on the Walk of Fame as part of the prestigious Class of 2026,' Peter Roth, former CEO of Warner Bros. Television and chairman of the Walk of Fame selection committee, said in a statement.
'These talented individuals have made significant contributions to the world of entertainment, and we are thrilled to honour them with this well-deserved recognition.' (ANI)

Following the tragic crash of Air India Flight AI171 in Ahmedabad on Thursday, actor Shah Rukh Khan took to social media to offer his condolences and prayers for the victims and their families. In a post on X, he expressed, 'Absolutely heartbroken with the news about the crash in Ahmedabad... my prayers for the victims, their families and all affected.' The AI-171, bound for London's Gatwick, crashed shortly after taking off from the Ahmedabad International Airport on Thursday. The airline said only one out of the 242 people on board survived the crash. There were 169 Indian nationals, 53 British nationals, seven Portuguese nationals, and one Canadian national on board the crashed plane. Miraculously, one person, a British national of Indian origin, survived the crash, airline authorities said. The aircraft was piloted by Captain Sumeet Sabharwal, a Line Training Captain with 8,200 hours of flying experience, assisted by First Officer Clive Kundar, who had logged 1,100 flying hours. According to Air Traffic Control (ATC), the aircraft departed from Ahmedabad at 1339 IST (0809 UTC) from runway 23. It made a Mayday call to ATC, but thereafter, the aircraft did not respond to the calls made by ATC. Immediately after departing Runway 23, the aircraft crashed outside the airport perimeter. Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi arrived in Ahmedabad on Friday morning, took stock of the site of the Air India plane crash and then proceeded to the Civil Hospital in the city to meet with those injured in the mishap that took place a day ago. Taking to her Instagram stories, Janhvi wrote, 'Shaken by the news of the Air India flight crash that took place shortly after takeoff from Ahmedabad. The weight of such tragedies is impossible to put into words. Praying deeply for the passengers, the crew, and every family waiting for answers tonight.' Sunny Deol wrote on X, 'Devastated by the news of the plane crash in Ahmedabad. Praying with all my heart for survivors -- may they be found and receive the care they need. May those who lost their lives rest in peace, and may their families find strength in this unimaginable time.' 'Can't imagine the pain of the family members of the ill fated Air India flight today. According to an Air India statement, the Boeing 787-8 aircraft, operating as Flight AI-171, departed from Ahmedabad at 1:38 pm IST with 242 people on board, including crew. 'The flight, which departed from Ahmedabad at 1338 hours, was carrying 242 passengers and crew members on board the Boeing 787-8 aircraft. Of these, 169 are Indian nationals, 53 are British nationals, 1 Canadian national and 7 Portuguese nationals. The injured are being taken to the nearest hospitals. We have also set up a dedicated passenger hotline number 1800 5691 444 to provide more information,' the airline said in a statement. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) said that a team has been rushed to the spot for investigation. 'On 12th Jun, 2025, Air India B787 Aircraft VT-ANB, while operating flight AI-171 from Ahmedabad to Gatwick, has crashed immediately after takeoff from Ahmedabad. There were 242 people on board the aircraft, consisting of 2 pilots and 10 cabin crew,' said a senior DGCA official. The aircraft was under the command of Captain Sumeet Sabharwal, an LTC with 8,200 hours of flying experience. He was assisted by First Officer Clive Kundar, who had 1,100 hours of flying experience, the official said. As per Air Traffic Control (ATC), the aircraft departed from Runway 23 at 1339 IST (0809 UTC). It gave a mayday call to ATC, but thereafter, no response was given by the aircraft to the calls made by ATC.'Aircraft immediately after departure from Runway 23, fell on the ground outside the airport perimeter. Heavy black smoke was seen coming from the accident site,' the official added. Meanwhile, expressing sadness over the incident, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said it is 'heartbreaking' beyond words. He said he is in touch with Ministers and authorities who are working to assist those affected. 'The tragedy in Ahmedabad has stunned and saddened us. It is heartbreaking beyond words. In this sad hour, my thoughts are with everyone affected by it. Have been in touch with Ministers and authorities who are working to assist those affected,' PM Modi said in a post on X. (ANI)
