Diljit Dosanjh's Sardaar Ji 3 hit the cinema screens worldwide on June 27. Despite skipping a theatrical release in India due to backlash over the casting of Pakistani actor Hania Aamir, the film has made a significant impact globally. The horror comedy minted Rs 33.60 crore overseas in just one week.
Team Diljit Dosanjh shared the news in an Instagram post on Friday.
" SARDAAR JI 3 Record Breaking OVERSEAS." The text on the poster read, "MASSIVE GLOBAL TURNOUT. ONE WEEK—33.60+ CR* (GROSS) SARDAARJI 3. NOW IN CINEMAS."

While Sardaar Ji 3 didn't release in India, it is being screened in Pakistani theatres and if videos on social media are to be believed, it's receiving a rave response. It is directed by Amar Hundal and produced by Gunbir Singh Sidhu, Manmord Sidhu, and Diljit Dosanjh.
Punjabi singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh was embroiled in a controversy after it was revealed that he is sharing screen space with Pakistani actor Hania Aamir in Sardaar Ji 3. The makers only released the movie in international territories amid the diplomatic and military tensions between India and Pakistan following the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22, 2025.
Reacting to the controversy in an interview with BBC Asian Network, Diljit Dosanjh had said, "When this film was made, everything was fine. We shot it in February and things were okay back then. After that, a lot of big things happened that were beyond our control. So the producers decided that the film obviously won't be released in India now, so they'll release it overseas. The producers have invested a lot of money, and when the film was being made, nothing like this was happening."
He added, "They know there will be a loss because you're removing an entire territory. Even when I signed the film, everything was fine. Now the situation is not in our hands. So if the producers want to release it abroad, I support them."
While Diljit Dosanjh has been facing backlash on social media and elsewhere, celebrities such as his Amar Singh Chamkila director Imtiaz Ali, veteran writer Javed Akhtar, and singer Jasbir Jassi have backed him amid the controversy.

Victoria Beckham misses Mel B's wedding, sends heartfelt gift instead

Spice Girls star Mel B recently tied the knot with hairstylist Rory McPhee in a dreamy ceremony at the historic OBE Chapel at St. Paul's Cathedral in London. While the wedding made headlines for its fairytale setting, one notable absence was that of Victoria Beckham. Although the fashion designer couldn't attend the wedding, reportedly due to being overseas, she found a special way to be part of the celebrations. Beckham gifted Mel B's daughter, Phoenix Chi, a custom-designed silk dress for the occasion. The 26-year-old wore the elegant blue ensemble, complete with a matching fascinator, as she walked in with her mother. In an earlier interview with Hello! magazine, Mel B had revealed she hoped her former bandmate would create a dress for her big day. 'Victoria did say she'd be happy to make me a dress,' she shared, adding, 'I don't want just one; I want many dresses for a week of celebrations. I've been married twice before, so third time lucky.' While Victoria couldn't be there in person, she celebrated the moment on Instagram by sharing a throwback video of the Spice Girls with the caption: 'Congratulations @officialmelb and @rorymcphee on your special day! I couldn't be more excited for you both and wish you a lifetime of happiness!' She followed it up with a sweet photo of herself with Mel B, writing, 'Sending you love @officialmelb @rorymcphee is a very lucky man!' Last month, Victoria Beckham said she 'couldn't be prouder' of husband David Beckham after he received knighthood in King Charles III's Birthday Honours list this year. She also said that David has always been her 'knight in shining armour, but now it's official'. The former England football captain, who played for his country 115 times, was honoured for his services to sport and charity. The football star, who was formerly appointed an officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in 2003. In a heartfelt Instagram post, the former Spice Girls singer said, 'You've always been my knight in shining armour, but now it's official. Sir David Beckham!!! What an honour, I couldn't be prouder of you.'

‘Thammudu' box office collections day 2: Nithiin starrer struggles; Collects Rs 3.05 cr

(Picture Courtesy: Facebook) 'Thammudu', starring Nithiin and Varsha Bollamma , is off to a subdued start at the box office. After earning Rs 1.90 crore on its opening day, the film witnessed a dip on Saturday, collecting around Rs 1.15 crore, as per early estimates by the Sacnilk website. That brings its total two-day collection to Rs 3.05 crore across India. Occupancy fails to pick up across key cities On Saturday, the film recorded an overall Telugu occupancy of just 14.46%. Morning shows started slow at 11.44%, and even by night, occupancy hovered around 16.68%. Major centres like Hyderabad saw slightly better turnout (15.25% overall), but cities like Bengaluru and Vijayawada remained weak. Chennai, interestingly, showed a relatively higher response with an overall 20.25% occupancy, thanks in part to interest in regional crossover actors like Sapthami Gowda. Still, the numbers weren't enough to make a real impact on Day 2 totals. Thammudu - Official Trailer Can Sunday offer some relief? With Sunday being the final push for weekend collections, all eyes are now on whether Thammudu can recover some ground before weekdays kick in. A good Sunday could take the film past Rs 5 crore, but that depends heavily on stronger word-of-mouth and improved turnout in Tier-2 towns. ETimes review for the film reads, "On the technical front, the film is visually appealing, with cinematographer KV Guhan capturing the tribal locales with flair. Ajaneesh Loknath's background score is atmospheric but rarely elevates the emotional beats. The action choreography is stylised, though several sequences stretch believability, further distancing the viewer from the story's emotional core. Thammudu had all the ingredients for a stirring emotional-action drama, but in trying too hard to be everything, it ends up being less than the sum of its parts. A film that had the potential to hit the bullseye sadly misses the mark." At the moment, 'Thammudu' appears to be facing an uphill battle at the box office. Despite a promising cast and familiar genre elements, the film hasn't quite clicked with the audience — at least not yet.

Cierra Ortega's friends ‘take a step back from running' Love Island USA 7 contestant's account after racial slur row

Cierra Ortega, the Love Island USA Season 7 contestant, is making headlines after multiple posts allegedly featuring language offensive to Asian communities resurfaced. Recently, two of Cierra Ortega's close friends broke silence over the old social media posts and have taken 'a step back from running' 25-year-old Love Island contestant's accounts. Several social media users expressed disappointment with the use of language and demanded her removal from the show. The controversy reached a point that Love Island Season 7 team is now planning to hold a meeting and make a decision about Ortega's future on the reality series, The Sun reported. Addressing the issue, Love Island USA Season 5 former contestant Johnnie Oliva in an Instagram story said, 'I'm sure many of you have noticed I have refrained from talking about Love Island and have stopped publicly supporting my friend on the show. This was after I saw the post involving a racial slur for the first time,' She added, 'I loved supporting her during the time on the show, but once I came across that post, I felt it was necessary to take a step back. I do not support or condone that kind of language, never have, never will." "Racism in any form is unacceptable, and to be clear, unless you are Asian, you do not get to decide whether or not that word is offensive. Anyone who isn't Asian should not be speaking about the seriousness or impact of that word," she said concluding her statement. The other major remark came from Cierra Ortega's friend, MJ Hedderman, who had been managing her account while she was on the show. Speaking out on the issue, she said, 'Hi guys, I see your comments concerning someone I love and care about,' adding, she said, 'I want to be clear that I do not condone racism, bigotry, or hate in any way shape or form nor was I aware of the recent screenshots until they were posted.' Condemning racism, Cierra Ortega's friend stated, 'I discovered it at the same time as all of you did. I cannot speak for anybody or make any statements besides my own, and decided to take a step back from running her account. I was asked by her family to turn off comments and refrain from speaking on her behalf. This situation has been really difficult and I'm still processing everything,'
