Diljit Dosanjh, Hania Aamir's Sardaar Ji 3 Becomes Top-Grossing Indian Film In Pakistan
Last Updated: Diljit Dosanjh's Sardaar Ji 3, featuring Hania Aamir, became the highest-grossing Indian film in Pakistan, earning Rs 3 crore on its 1st day, breaking Salman Khan's Sultan record. Diljit Dosanjh's Sardaar Ji 3 hasn't released in India yet given the ongoing controversy and backlash over Pakistani actress Hania Aamir's casting. However, the film is breaking records in Pakistan. It has become the highest-grossing Indian movie there, even though it stirred controversy for featuring Pakistani actress Hania Aamir, something that goes against the ban on Pakistani artists in India. According to reports, the film earned Rs 3 crore on its first day in Pakistan, making it the biggest opening ever for an Indian film in the country. It even beat the record set by Salman Khan's Sultan back in 2016. Despite facing backlash in India, Sardaar Ji 3 is doing really well at the box office in Pakistan. In fact, reports say that theatres across the country have been running houseful shows. Sardaar Ji 3 has been banned in India in the wake of rising tensions with Pakistan, especially after the tragic Pahalgam terror attack in April. While the film hasn't released in India, it has hit theatres internationally, including in Pakistan. Diljit, standing by his decision to release the film abroad, has been sharing videos and reactions from packed theatres in Pakistan. Recently, Diljit Dosanjh took to Instagram and re-posted a video, which comprised the public's reaction to Sardaar Ji 3 inside a theatre in Pakistan. Interestingly, the video posted by the singer-actor showed Hania on the screen. He shared another post, in which he is seen proudly flaunting the film's global box office figures. Diljit has been facing boycott calls in his home country India. Diljit Dosanjh recently broke his silence on the controversy and Hania Aamir's casting in the film that was done months before the Pahalgam attack in April. Speaking to BBC Asian Network, the singer said that the project was completed before any of the current political tensions surfaced. 'Jab yeh film bani thi tab situation sab theek tha. We shot this in Feb and then everything was fine. Uske baad, bhut saari badi cheezen humare haath mein nahi hai. Toh producers ne decide kiya ki film obviously ab India toh nahi lagegi, toh overseas release karte hain. Toh producers ka bahut paisa laga hua hai aur jab yeh film bann rahi thi tab aisa kuch tha nahi (When this film was made, everything was fine. We shot it in February, and at that time, the situation was normal. After that, a lot of big things happened that are not in our control. So the producers decided that since the film obviously can't release in India now, they'll release it overseas. The producers have invested a lot of money, and when the film was being made, there was no such issue)," he said, adding that the makers are aware they will incur losses. 'Now the situation is not in our hands. So if the producers want to release it abroad, I support them," he shared. First Published: June 30, 2025, 12:17 IST

Kuberaa Box Office Collections: Dhanush starrer falters after good weekend, crawls near 125cr worldwide
Kuberaa witnessed a steep drop in its second weekend, collecting just Rs. 12 crore approx at the Indian box office. That takes its total box office gross in India to Rs. 91.50 crore approx, with another Rs. 30 crore (USD 3.50 million) from overseas markets, the worldwide gross stands at Rs. 122 crore approx. The film had a promising first weekend with an excellent trend, but it had an ordinary drop on Monday and then weekdays saw further drops. The way the film dropped on weekdays, it seemed it would be lights out in the second weekend, with competition arriving. However, the weekend did saw business stabilising a bit, but the damage was already done on days prior. Same time last week, the film was looking to be a much-needed HIT for the Telugu film industry, with a Rs. 150 crore plus worldwide final, but now it will barely scrape over the Rs. 125 crore mark. The box office collections of Kuberaa in India are as follows: The big underperformance for the film has come from Tamil Nadu, which is set to wrap under Rs. 20 crore, an abysmal number for a film starring Dhanush. Telugu states have actually done well, though they could have been far better considering where things stood after the first weekend. The territorial breakdown for Kuberaa is as follows:

Jackie Shroff feels producers should sign stars only if they come with reasonable entourage costs: ‘Baad mein kyu rota hai'
A lot of producers have been blaming the escalating entourage costs for the rising budgets of films which lead to odds being stacked against the box office prospects. Stars have been increasingly demanding producers to cover the costs of their extensive entourage, which includes multiple spotboys, hair and makeup teams, drivers, and even chefs and trainers. Jackie Shroff, who has been in the industry for over four decades, recently weighed in on this debate. While he claimed that he usually has only a spotboy along with him, he believes every star has their own demands which should be put on the table while signing the contract. And once the producer has agreed to meet those demands, they shouldn't backtrack or complain later. 'Talk to the production house first that you have these many people in your staff. An actor usually has a makeup person, hairdresser, and a spotboy. If they don't bring a spotboy along, they can get one from the producer's company. If there are 17-18 artists on a set, they all have their own requirements,' Shroff told Vickey Lalwani. 'Maybe they also have someone who cooks for them. Their habits have changed and the entourage has grown bigger. But when they talk to the producer, they should discuss how much cost they can cover for their entourage and how much the producer can. That combination should be there,' added Shroff. 'It could be a shared cost, but it depends on them. If they make a very expensive film, have four artists, and those four artists have around 12 entourage members, I can afford them as a producer. But the producers who can't afford that much should ask the artists to reduce that cost and then divide the costs. But this doesn't usually happen these days,' said Shroff. He claimed that the producers shouldn't whine after committing to the costs. 'Don't sign them otherwise! If you sign an artist happily, and you know their entourage is there, don't cry later! Baad mein kyu ro raha hai. Ro kyu raha hai. Itna kama raha hai (Why cry later? Or why cry at all? You're earning so much),' argued Shroff. Also Read — Jackie Shroff wants to rent out his childhood chawl room, but landlord isn't allowing: 'I still visit that place, stand in the balcony and eat paan' Last month, renowned hairstylist Aalim Hakim pointed out that several of his colleagues often armtwist the producer to increase their fees by three times once their associated star delivers a hit. 'What does a technician have to do with a film becoming a superhit? They've just cut the actor's hair. The actor has given a good performance, the director has made a good film, which is why the film becomes a hit. Their actor scoring a Rs 500 crore film shouldn't increase the hairstylist's fees just because the actor has become comfortable with them,' he said.
