"I hope you become German champions again," he said.
The transfer hadn't yet been finalized on the last matchday of the previous Bundesliga season. Therefore, Wirtz hadn't yet been able to say goodbye to the Leverkusen supporters.
To record the video, Wirtz returned to Leverkusen's BayArena and recalled some of the most special moments of his career at the club, where he won the Bundesliga and German Cup in the 2023-24 season.
"What we achieved that season is still hard to grasp: Unbeaten, champions, with such a huge points gap," he said.

However, with the likes of De Bruyne orchestrating the midfield and Lucca offering fresh firepower up front, optimism is steadily growing among fans. They will open their Serie A campaign on August 23 against Sassuolo.
