UPSC Success Story: The UPSC Civil Services Examination (CSE) is arguably one of the toughest recruitment tests in India, and requires years of preparation and dedicated coaching classes to prepare aspirants for the formidable examination. One such inspirational story is that of UPSC topper IAS Taruni Pandey, who quit her MBBS studies to pursue her dream of becoming a civil servant, an achieved that goal with just four months of dedicated preparation. Who is IAS Taruni Pandey?
Born in middle-income household in Chittaranjan, West Bengal, but raised in Jamtara, Jharkhand, Taruni Pandey had an education-oriented and studious environment at home as both her parents are government employees. Growing up, Taruni was always an exceptional student in school and desired to become a doctor.
After her schooling, Taruni Pandey earned her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in English literature from IGNOU, and later pursued her dream of becoming a doctor, but fate had something else in store for her as health issues forced her to quit her MBBS studies during her second year, and prompting the young woman to explore new career avenues. How a tragic event inspired Taruni Pandey for UPSC?
A crucial moment, which changed Taruni's perspective on life, and inspired her to become an IAS officer, came when her brother-in-law, a CRPF captain, was martyred in action. The event took a toll on her, but also served as an inspiration as she witnessed IAS officers and top bureaucrats coming forward to help her family.
Taruni made up her mind and immediately engrossed herself in preparation for UPSC CSE by relying on self-study, online resources such as YouTube, and her own notes. Unlike majority of aspirants, Taruni Pandey did not opt for coaching classes and instead trusted her own study plan to crack the tough exam. What was her All-India Rank (AIR)?
After just four months or 120 days of preparation, Taruni Pandey was ready to appear in the 2020 UPSC Prelims, but COVID-19 outbreak derailed her plans. This was a major setback as Taruni realized that her next UPSC attempt would be her last because of the age limit for Open Merit or general category candidates.
However, Taruni's hard work and dedication bore fruit when she aced the UPSC CSE in 2021 with an impressive All India Rank (AIR) of 14, and achieved her dream of becoming an IAS officer.

CBSE begins preparing students for board exams
Advt Advt Schools have begun to orient students for next year's board exams on the basis of sample papers and marking schemes which has been recently released by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) for the academic session 2025–26. According to the official CBSE circular, there has been no change in the exam pattern or marking scheme from the previous academic year (2024–25).This year, the CBSE released the sample papers earlier than usual, providing students more time to familiarise themselves with the structure of the upcoming exams. Alongside the sample papers, the marking schemes were also made available on the board's official website: Shekhar, academic coordinator at Oxford Public School, said, "These resources aim not only to aid exam preparation but also to strengthen classroom learning and conceptual understanding. CBSE has encouraged schools to integrate the sample papers into regular teaching practices."According to the circular, the sample papers cover all subjects, with most provided in both English and Hindi (excluding language-specific papers). The board examinations for both classes will be conducted in Feb 2026, with general instructions, section-wise distribution, and maximum marks clearly defined in the sample documents."CBSE's sample papers guide students preparing for competitive exams. It fully incorporates NCERT content. Students should start early and understand these papers thoroughly to perform better in boards," said Jaya Chauhan, Principal of Delhi Public important change highlighted in CBSE's new approach is the decision to conduct Class X board examinations twice a year starting 2026. SSC stenographer admit card 2025 released; download hall ticket at SSC Stenographer admit card 2025: The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has released the admit card for the SSC Stenographer Grade C and D Examination 2025. Candidates who have successfully submitted their application forms can now download their admit cards from the official website The examination is scheduled to take place between August 6 and August 8, 2025. The SSC Stenographer Grade C, D Examination is being conducted to fill a total of 1,590 vacancies, with 230 posts for Grade C and 1,360 posts for Grade D. The Commission advises candidates to download their admit cards well in advance and ensure all details are correct. The admit card will also serve as an entry pass to the examination hall and must be carried along with a valid photo identity. Important dates and exam details The notification for the SSC Stenographer Recruitment 2025 was published on June 5, 2025. Online applications were accepted until June 26, 2025, which was also the last date for fee payment. Candidates could expect to receive their exam city intimation slips by July 31, 2025. The examination will be conducted in a Computer Based Test (CBT) format, followed by descriptive tests, skill tests, document verification, and final selection.
