Save the Malayan Tiger campaign raises RM2.1 million since 2021
He credited the success to strategic partnerships, including the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM), which contributed RM200,000 through match ticket sales.
'I would like to thank FAM for their support,' he said during the national-level Global Tiger Day celebration.
The event was attended by Peninsular Malaysia Department of Wildlife and National Parks (Perhilitan) director-general Datuk Abdul Kadir Abu Hashim and FAM president Datuk Mohd Joehari Mohd Ayub.
Johari, also Minister of Plantation and Commodities, highlighted the Cabinet's approval in 2021 of a 10-year conservation plan for the Malayan tiger. The strategy focuses on halting population decline, improving governance, and ensuring long-term survival.
Perhilitan's monitoring, supported by NGOs, indicates a rising tiger population, signaling progress in conservation efforts.
Malaysia is also seeking 'Conservation Assured Tiger Standards' accreditation for Taman Negara and Endau Rompin National Park.
Additionally, Perhilitan aims to secure ASEAN Heritage Park status for the Tengku Hassanal Wildlife Reserve. - Bernama

'If we, as a party, cannot understand the thinking of our youngsters, how are we going to cultivate and constantly produce young leaders who understand?… our problems will be bigger next time. Commenting on the statement by opposition leader Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin yesterday that the opposition is considering tabling a no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim in Parliament, Johari said each Member of Parliament (MP) has the right to do so. 'In this Parliament, any MP can table that motion (of no-confidence). Nobody can stop it. 'So, the motion is tabled in Parliament… then we will see who has the support and who hasn't. MPs have every right to file motions, Johari says amid no-confidence talk
SHAH ALAM: All members of Parliament have the right to file any motion in the Dewan Rakyat, said Umno vice-president Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani. However, the Titiwangsa MP said any decision on a motion is made by Parliament. "No one can forbid it (filing a motion)," he told reporters after officiating the Shah Alam Umno division meeting here. "If it is brought to Parliament... we will see who gets support and who does not, and Parliament will decide." He was asked to comment on opposition leader Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin's remarks at the Pas-led rally yesterday, in which he hinted at filing a motion of no-confidence against Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. However, Perikatan Nasional chief whip Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan dismissed such a plan. He said a vote of no-confidence was limited to members of Parliament and that the opposition might not have enough numbers to move such a vote. Anwar said today that he was open to any motion of no-confidence brought against him in Parliament.
