Furore over pervert caught red-handed upskirting but no action as violence was used in nabbing him
THIS is truly disturbing and points to a breakdown in the laws of the country.
In a video that has gone viral, a pervert is caught red-handed upskirting. For those not in the know, it is the act of filming or photo-taking by secretly placing a smart phone under unsuspecting ladies' skirts.
The video shows the young perpetrator being caught in his act, believed to be in the Bukit Bintang vicinity in Kuala Lumpur, before being over-powered by several youths.
JANTAN PERVERT!!
Rakam dalam skirt perem*uan. Terima kasih orang ramai yang membantu. Katanya student lagi.
Terima kasih rakyat prihatin pic.twitter.com/tEZmKssvOC

A post uploaded to social media purportedly by one of the young 'heroes' explained that when attempting to hand over the perpetrator to the cops, shockingly, they were advised to let him go!
Why? They had used violence in overpowering the culprit.
In the end, they filed a report that the culprit had illegal gambling websites on his phone instead of the 500GB (gigabyte) of lewd photos (which were already deleted).
The young hero explained that he is posting to alert others about this troubled pervert, especially given creep is allegedly a student at the Multimedia University (MMU).
That explanation (please use translation tool to decipher) along with video of the fracas was shared on X by AsalBukanAnwar (@SnappyCraps)
According to FB, the police advised the people who caught him to let him go, because apparently they used violence to apprehend him…despite him having 500GB of upskirt video footage in his phone when they checked it. https://t.co/INYrABG7RI pic.twitter.com/ye2ktRm3Ha

One of the young heroes also posted a follow-up by stating they are not trying to glorify their actions but merely stop such abhorrent actions by perverts.
He stated that he did not want the perpetrator to get away scot-free and claim that he had been arrested for mere gambling offences when the truth was for more disturbing and sinister.
Thanking everyone for their support, he was baffled at how they could be charged for causing harm when their citizen arrest was intended to stop a criminal act.
It was also disconcertingly highlighted that the law did not cover citizen's arrest for such incidences.
Robbery, rape, kidnapping, house-breaking, snatch theft, murder and even the spreading of fake news were covered but not apprehending perverts caught outraging the modesty of women!
Perhaps the Criminal Procedure Code needs to be updated, insinuated one netizen.
Many netizens could not quite believe what had actually transpired either with the evidence on the phone and after the pervert was caught red-handed.
Many questioned the logic applied by the cops. Were they expecting the apprehenders to politely invite the pervert to turn himself in to the police sans struggle? Can a criminal now be let off the hook simply because some force was applied in apprehending him?
There is an obvious disconnect between the law and reality when the schedule permitting a citizen's arrest is so narrow and limited. If spreading fake news can be included, surely cases of outraging modesty of females can as well.
The police also need to re-think how to go about dealing with such cases. Letting the pervert go is far from being a good idea.
Given that there is huge public outcry over this viral video, perhaps the police can charge him with the appropriate crime – unless ALL of the evidence has been wiped out.
The public, in particular concerned parents of MMU students, can also pressure the tertiary institute to expel or at least suspend this pervert if it is proven that he is indeed studying there.
Time to mobilise public opinion. – June 23, 2025

Court issues peace bond over property boundary quarrel in Kampung Matang
Based on the facts of the case, Mustapha had scolded Siti and attempted to throw a flower pot at her during an incident, which occurred around 2pm on April 29, 2025, at Kampung Matang. – Photo by Chimon Upon KUCHING (June 26): The Magistrates' Court here today placed a man and a woman on a six-month bond of RM400 each to keep the peace after they were involved in a quarrel over property boundary issues. Magistrate Syarifah Fatimah Azura Wan Ali made the order against Mustapha Noor Abdullah, 34, and Siti Nur Syahada Muliadi, 24, after they pleaded guilty under Section 67 of the Criminal Procedure Code. Based on the facts of the case, Mustapha had scolded Siti and attempted to throw a flower pot at her during an incident, which occurred around 2pm on April 29, 2025, at Kampung Matang. It was believed that Mustapha also threatened to destroy flower plants belonging to Siti and her family. Fearing for her safety and that of her family, Siti lodged a police report, which led to Mustapha's arrest on June 23, 2025. Investigations revealed that Mustapha acted aggressively after being prevented from erecting a fence near Siti's house due to an unresolved boundary issue between their properties. The placement of Siti's flower plants was said to obstruct the path where Mustapha intended to construct the fence, leading to a dispute between the two parties. To prevent a recurrence of the incident, the court ordered both individuals to execute a bond to keep the peace for six months. The case was handled by ASP Arman Ibrahim, while Mustapha and Siti were not represented by lawyers. Kampung Matang peace bond property boundary

Father pleads guilty to raping two daughters for 11 years
MUAR: The suffering of two sisters who were victims of molest, rape, and sodomy by their biological father for the past 11 years ended when the man was sentenced to 124 years in prison and 92 strokes of the cane by the Sessions Court here today. A 44-year-old father of two siblings was sentenced after pleading guilty to all 14 charges presented to him by the interpreter in front of Judge Sayani Mohd Nor. The palm oil worker was sentenced to 21 years in prison and six strokes of the cane for the first to third charges of committing physical sexual abuse against a daughter who is now 16 years old. The act was committed against the victim since the age of five at his home in Batu Pahat during the day and night between the years 2014 and 2022. For this charge, he was prosecuted under Section 14 (a) and (d), the Sexual Offences Against Children Act (Soaca) 2017. For the fourth to fourteenth charges, he was accused of raping, sodomising, and committing physical sexual assault against his eldest child, who is now 17 years old, in various locations including a hut in an oil palm plantation and a store between the years 2014 and May 2025. The charges were brought under Section 376(3) of the Penal Code, Section 14(d), and Section 377C of the same code, amounting to a total sentence of 103 years in prison and 86 strokes of the rotan. However, the court ordered that the sentences under Section 376(3) and Sections 14(a) and 14(d) run concurrently, while the additional sentence under Section 16 would begin after the first term is served. As a result, the accused will serve a total of 22 years in prison and receive 24 strokes, which is the maximum allowed under Section 288 of the Criminal Procedure Code. Based on the facts of the case, a police report was made after the victim's mother, who is also the defendant's wife, was called by the school due to the declining performance of both of her children. Both defendants then told their teacher and mother that they had been raped, sodomised, and molested by their father since they were five and six years old. Preliminary police investigations found that the incident occurred while both victims were at home and in the palm oil plantation hut, with the accused committing the act without the victims' consent. In fact, one of the victims almost fainted and had difficulty breathing after being raped by the accused, despite pleading multiple times, but the man ignored them. Even more cruel, the victim also experienced bleeding and was ordered not to tell anyone, including her mother, if she didn't want anything to happen to her. The prosecution was handled by deputy public prosecutor, Othman Affan Ismail, while the accused was not represented by a lawyer. The court also ordered the accused to undergo police supervision for two years upon completion of the sentence in accordance with Section 27 of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017.

Police cripple Klang Valley drug network in Sungai Buloh and Hulu Selangor
KUALA LUMPUR: Police have dismantled a drug distribution network involving cannabis in Sungai Buloh and Hulu Selangor with the arrest of three local men aged between 28 and 42. Sungai Buloh district police chief Superintendent Mohd Hafiz Muhammad Nor said a total of 1,006.5g of cannabis was seized during the operation on June 19. "In addition to the cannabis, an estimated 40.93g of heroin, 57.56g of Yaba pills, 3.32g of ecstasy pills, and 0.82g of methamphetamine were also seized during the operation conducted by the Sungai Buloh Narcotics Criminal Investigation Division. "Intelligence gathered and interrogation conducted on one of the suspects provided additional information, which was shared with other district police departments across Selangor. This led to more arrests and significantly disrupted the cannabis distribution network," he said in a statement. Hafiz said preliminary investigations revealed the network's modus operandi was to order cannabis from a neighbouring country, with the drugs then delivered via local courier services before being distributed in the Klang Valley. The estimated market value of the seized drugs is between RM30,000 and RM40,000. All three suspects have been remanded for between five and seven days from June 20 to 26 under Section 117 of the Criminal Procedure Code. The case is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, which carries the mandatory death penalty or life imprisonment with whipping upon conviction. Hafiz urged members of the public with information on criminal activities, particularly involving drugs, to come forward and assist police efforts to eradicate drug distribution and abuse within the jurisdiction of the Sungai Buloh District Police Headquarters.
