LU researchers to get access to ScienceDirect AI

Lucknow: In a boost to research innovation, research scholars at
Lucknow University
will now have access to ScienceDirect AI, Elsevier's advanced artificial intelligence platform that is transforming academic discovery and publishing.
The announcement was made during a one day Author Workshop organized by Tagore library in collaboration with Elsevier on Wednesday.
ScienceDirect AI provides powerful features such as smart article recommendations, automated summarization, visual topic clustering and AI-powered citation tracking, enabling researchers to conduct more efficient literature reviews and choose the most relevant journals for their work across all academic disciplines.
"This access will be a game-changer for our research community, ScienceDirect AI does not just provide content, it intelligently guides scholars through the ever-expanding landscape of information," said, honorary librarian Prof Keya Pandey
The technical session featured customer success manager, South Asia at Elsevier, Aishwarya Nayal as the keynote speaker. In her session, she elaborated on the ethical and practical dimensions of publishing, including how to avoid predatory journals, understand the peer review process and maximize visibility using platforms like ScienceDirect and Scopus.

NU to present lifetime achievement award to Datta Meghe
Nagpur: The Nagpur University will confer lifetime achievement award on veteran politician Datta Meghe during its 102nd Foundation Day on Monday. The university will also present several annual awards as part of the foundation day celebration. The function will be held at Guru Nanak Bhawan off Ambazari Bypass at 11am. Revenue minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule will be the chief guest, while minister of state for home (rural), housing, school education, Pankaj Bhoyar will be the special guest. Acting vice-chancellor Madhavi Khode-Chaware will chair the event in presence of acting pro-VC Subhash Kondawar. NU, which established with just six colleges, 917 students and 4 faculties, now comprises 47 postgraduate academic departments and over 500 affiliated colleges, with approximately 4 lakh students pursuing higher education. Addressing a press conference on Saturday, Chaware said the administration recently took a slew of steps to ease processes for students. LU integrates AI into commerce PG course
Lucknow: The Department of Commerce at Lucknow University has integrated Artificial Intelligence (AI) into the postgraduate curriculum for both one-year and two-year programmes. Recognising AI's growing influence across industries, the new course — AI in Business — is designed to provide students with both foundational understanding and practical knowledge of AI applications in core commerce domains. As around 18% of the start-up economy, particularly in digital marketing, relies heavily on AI-driven strategies, the course is structured to reflect current industry needs. The course, which will begin from the new academic session, adopts an interdisciplinary approach, covering the use of AI in accounting, auditing, finance, taxation, marketing, and human resource management. The curriculum begins with an introduction to AI, focusing on its basic concepts, automation, learning, and decision-making. It then explores AI's application in accounting and auditing, highlighting its role in data entry, journal entries, ledger postings, and financial analysis. In the finance and taxation modules, students are introduced to AI-powered tools for financial planning and tax calculation, including income tax and GST software. The marketing section examines key technologies like machine learning and natural language processing, emphasizing their role in customer targeting and data-driven campaigns.
