Transfer news live: Arsenal given Gyokeres warning, agree Madueke and Chelsea target Donnarumma

The summer transfer window rolls on as Premier League clubs and those around Europe look to add to their squads. Arsenal 's negotiations for Sporting 's Viktor Gyokeres have stalled over a difference in overall value and terms. However, Gyokeres appears to be taking action over the impasse, with the Sweden striker having refused to show up to Sporting training, which has led to the Gunners being given a stark warning, while they have also been busy in agreeing a deal for Chelsea winger Noni Madueke. Tottenham have been busy and have aggressively backed new manager Thomas Frank with a deal for West Ham's Mohammed Kudus, but despite triggering the release clause for Morgan Gibbs-White, Nottingham Forest are now considering legal action over what they believe to be an illegal approach. Manchester United secured Matheus Cunha from Wolves for £62.5m early in this window but a subsequent deal for Brentford's Bryan Mbeumo has been slow to develop, while the likes of Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho remain at the club despite pushing for a fresh start this summer. Jordan Henderson is set to return to England by signing for Brentford on a free transfer. The former Liverpool captain left Ajax after deciding not to trigger a 12-month extension to his contract with the Dutch club. And Brentford have moved for the 35-year-old as they look for a replacement for Christian Norgaard, who has joined Arsenal. Henderson, who is likely to sign a two-year contract, is expected to have a medical before completing his move to Brentford, which he hopes will enable him to keep his place in the England squad for next summer's World Cup. 'He increased his profile at Sporting. He's come back a completely different animal, worked on his physical side. 'He deserves whatever he gets. Very driven, self-minded. The Portuguese club have also warned the Gunners that they will not bow to pressure to accept an offer 'below market value'. Gyokeres, who scored 39 league goals to fire Sporting to the Portuguese title last season, is at the top of Arsenal's wishlist. However, the two clubs are yet to agree a transfer fee and the 27-year-old has appeared to play his hand by refusing to return for pre-season training. Sporting president Frederico Varandas told Portuguese news agency LUSA: 'We're calm. Everything can be solved with the closure of the market, a hefty fine and an apology to the group. If they don't want to pay Viktor's fair market value, we'll be very comfortable with [keeping him] for the next three years.' Luke Baker13 July 2025 13:38

Man Utd in race against time to meet Amorim's deadline to sign 'frustrated' star

Manchester United are hoping to sign Brentford star Bryan Mbeumo this summer, but negotiations have dragged on and Ruben Amorim wants the deal done as soon as possible Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim wants a deal for Bryan Mbeumo finalised before their pre-season tour of the US begins on July 22. The Red Devils have already had two bids rejected by Brentford, who want more than the £62.5million United paid for Matheus Cunha. And United are now in a race against time to sign Mbeumo before they leave for America later this month to play three games against West Ham, Bournemouth and Everton. Mbeumo has also been left frustrated by the situation, with negotiations dragging on. ‌ Mbeumo has made it clear that he wants to join United and Ashu Cyprian Besong, Cameroon's assistant coach, has revealed the forward is not happy with how things are going. "Yes, obviously he's very frustrated with how long it's taken," Besong told Telecom Asia. ‌ "But he's a professional and anticipates these things. I spoke to him about a week ago and he is very calm with everything that is going on. 'But of course, he's already told them he wants to go to United. "He just wanted the two clubs to find an agreement, as he's very grateful for the opportunity that he's been given by Brentford in his career." However, Brentford have hinted that Mbeumo will remain at the club if their asking price is not met, with director of football Phil Giles telling BBC Sport last month: "He had a fantastic season. ‌ "We expected big interest in him, we have had big interest in him. He has his ideas about where he wants to take his career, of course he does – he is well within his rights to do that. We are in constant dialogue with him and representatives about that. "As it stands at the minute we don't have an agreement in place for him to leave. It is not impossible he is still a Brentford player next season if we agree he is going to stay. It has to be the right deal for Brentford, any club will tell you that. ‌ "If it's not right deal why would we do it? He is certainly one of our best players, if not our best player, and we need our best players. There's no harm in keeping your best players." Mbeumo enjoyed an outstanding campaign for Brentford last season, netting 20 Premier League goals in 38 appearances. Liverpool boss Slot makes heartfelt tribute to Jota ahead of pre-season match

July 13 (Reuters) - Liverpool boss Arne Slot said it had been difficult for the team to get back to work after the death of Diogo Jota and so he had suggested to his players that perhaps the best way forward was to follow their late teammate's shining example. Liverpool were kicking off their pre-season friendlies with a game at Preston on Sunday, 10 days after Jota and his brother Andre Silva died in a car crash in Spain on July 3. "What I've said to the players, it's very difficult to find the right words because we constantly debate what is appropriate," Slot said in an emotional interview with Liverpool's in-house media. "What is appropriate in our actions? What is appropriate (for) what we have to say? Can we train again? Can we laugh again? Can we be angry if there's a wrong decision? "And I've said to them, maybe the best thing for us to do is handle this situation like Jota was," he added. "And what I meant with that is that Jota was always himself, it didn't matter if he was talking to me, to his teammates, to the staff, he was always himself. "So let us try to be ourselves as well. So, if we want to laugh we laugh; if we want to cry we're going to cry." Liverpool delayed the return of players to pre-season training as most of them attended the funeral in Portugal last week. The club announced on Friday that they would permanently retire Jota's number 20. Slot said the 28-year-old, who played a key role in Liverpool winning the Premier League title this past season, was one player he could always count on in difficult moments. "I always looked at him and said, 'now we need something special from you'," Slot said. "And he delivered so many times. I can come up with all of these moments. "So we are in a very difficult time, so let's try to do what Diogo did so many times. If it's so difficult then try a little bit harder or just keep on going and try to make it work." Slot, who said the team would always carry Jota in their hearts, said it was a challenge to see anything, including football, as "important if we think of what has happened". "But we are a football club and we need to train and we need to play again, if we want it or not."
