If you were like me, you were a little nervous that SYFY's Resident Alien wasn't going to get a season four after some months had passed after season three's finale, since we didn't have word of a renewal. Then, it was announced that season four would be premiering on USA Network instead of the SYFY channel and we all collectively cheered. Who cared if it was switching networks, as long as we were getting more of this great show.
After watching the premiere episode of season four, we can say that you can't tell there was a network change. This still feels like the Resident Alien we know and love and it's good to have Harry and the crew back. Season three ended with a lot going on, with the biggest cliffhanger being that the real Harry was stuck on the moon, while Mantid was on Earth, assuming Harry's shape.
Does season 4 start with a bang? No. Instead, it's a gentle slide back into the world of Resident Alien. A gentle reminder of who the players are, what we're dealing with, and the pressures at stake. The show extends its reach, where minor characters become more important to the overarching story, as opposed to background characters. In a way, it reminds me of when everyone finally found out about zombies in iZombie. Everyone knows about aliens, even if Sheriff Mike denies it; which, makes everyone working together more feasible and easier.
The biggest takeaway of this episode is how good of a job Alan Tudyk does at playing both Harry and Mantid. As Mantid, he's a chain-smoking cool guy who likes assuming the role of Harry within the town, but is also disinterested in the idea of replicating Harry's personality to a T. However, due to Harry being a bit odd at all times, Mantid's change of behavior is hardly noticed, even by his closest friends. We then have the real Harry, who never disappoints, caught between being genuinely poignant and just wanting pizza. Sheriff Mike and Deputy Liv's partnership continues to be a standout of the show, with their moments in episode one sticking out in second place to Harry's storyline. We have the deeply stubborn Sheriff denying the existence of aliens, even after personally encountering one. Then we have Liv, who is always kind and optimistic. At this point, she knows how to get through to Mike, and it was good to see that she did so in one episode, so we have him on board moving forward.
Of course, Asta and D'Arcy provided some good moments in this episode, with a heavy emphasis on D'Arcy's growing bond with Kate's baby. These moments definitely add deeper layers to D'Arcy, who has gone through her own troubles over the last couple of seasons. While Asta doesn't take as big of a role in episode 1, we do see Kate and Ben preparing for the next alien invasion, with some funny mishaps involving these two throughout the first episode.
Overall, episode 1 was a good introduction to the new season that lays down the groundwork for the rest of the episodes. Episode 1 ends with a well-deserved standoff, and we can't wait to see what sort of hijinks this season has in store for us.

Jana Kramer faces 'a lot of pressure' to provide for her family
Jana Kramer has accepted jobs that challenge her "moral compass". The 41-year-old star has to pay child support cheques to ex-husband Mike Caussin, and Jana admits that financial pressures have influenced some of her career decisions. Jana - who has Jolie, nine, and Jace, six, with Mike, as well as Roman, 19 months, with current husband Allan Russell - told Fox News Digital: "There's definitely some things, some ads that I'm like, 'Oh, I wish I could have gone back and maybe not done that ad,' but you know, you learn and you go back and you go, 'All right, I'm not gonna do that one again,' you know? "So sometimes when you gotta pay that child support cheque, it's just like, 'Well, this is a good cheque money. I'm gonna take this.'" Asked if she was referring to a commercial in which she promoted a sex toy, Jana replied: "It's OK, honestly it is what it is. "I'm not gonna do it again, like you know what I mean? Like I'm like, OK, I'm good now, like, you know? Like we're good, we're levelling up to a different [place], you know?" Jana has occasionally comprised her values because she needs to provide for her family. She said: "I am a sole provider, where I have a lot of pressure on my shoulders to provide for my kids. And so I think that piece of it sometimes outweighs my moral compass." Jana is best known for playing Alex Dupre on One Tree Hill. And the actress - who starred on the TV show between 2009 and 2012 - previously revealed that she's eager to star in a reboot. She told TooFab in 2024: "I definitely talked to Sophia [Bush, her former co-star] about it and it's one of those things where she's kind of getting a temperature check on who would come back." Jana is a fan of reboots and she's keen to see what the show's characters are up to now. She shared: "I love when shows get rebooted and they bring back old characters because I like to see what they're up to. "I understand if they don't. I understand why some actors don't want to come back to a show that's been done, and they have closed that chapter. But for the viewers and the fans, I want to know what they're up to, what they're doing."

Yankees' George Costanza desk nap bobblehead pre-selling for five times more than tickets to game
This week the New York Yankees announced that the bobblehead giveaway for its Seinfeld Night promotion on Aug. 21 for its game against the Boston Red Sox will be one of George Costanza sleeping under his desk. The unique giveaway, which Seinfeld fans will surely agree is perhaps the greatest bobblehead ever created, is a reference to an episode from season eight of the show titled 'The Nap.' In the episode, George, then working for the Yankees as assistant to the traveling secretary, commissioned a carpenter working for Jerry to build a custom sleep nook under his desk at Yankee Stadium. He was then caught under there by then Yankees owner George Steinbrenner's grandson. The bobblehead will only be given to the first 18,000 fans who enter the stadium that night, but pre-sales of the item have already been purchased on eBay for up to $250 while tickets to the game are still available for as little as $53. 'I love a good nap. Sometimes it's the only thing getting me out of bed in the morning.' – George Costanza Join us at @yankeestadium on Thursday, August 21 for Seinfeld Night! 1st 18,000 guests will receive a George Costanza Bobblehead 🎟️👉 — New York Yankees (@Yankees) June 26, 2025 For last season's Seinfeld Night, the Yankees gave away a bobblehead of George in a batting pose from an episode where he taught real-life Yankees Bernie Williams and Derek Jeter how to hit. While this is only the second year the Yankees will hold a Seinfeld Night, the New York Mets and its minor league affiliates have had several bobblehead giveaways tied to the show. The Brooklyn Cyclones, a High-A affiliate of the Mets, have done bobbleheads of George in his Gore-Tex coat, and pulling a golf ball out of a whale's blowhole while pretending to be a marine biologist. The Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp, a Triple-A affiliate of the Miami Marlins, also gave away one of George eating so many shrimp that it prompted a call from the ocean. The character has proven popular in trading card form, too. 2021 Panini National Treasures cards featuring pieces of a Yankees jersey worn by actor Jason Alexander have sold for $1,000 or more on at least five occasions and numerous unofficial Costanza cards have been produced.
