Alonzo Menifield vs. Oumar Sy prediction, pick, start time for UFC on ESPN 69
Alonzo Menifield and Oumar Sy meet Saturday in the main card opener of UFC on ESPN 69 at State Farm Arena in Atlanta. Check out this quick breakdown of the matchup from MMA Junkie analyst Dan Tom.
Last event: 3-2
UFC main cards, 2025: 52-43-1
Alonzo Menifield vs. Oumar Sy UFC on ESPN 69 preview
Menifield (16-5-1 MMA, 9-5-1 UFC) enters on the heels of a split decision win over Julius Walker in February. The result ended a two-fight skid of stoppage losses against Carlus Ulberg and Azamat Murzakanov. Prior to those setbacks, Menifield was on a solid run with four wins and one draw. He comes into the fight against Sy as a massive underdog, the highest line at the betting window of his UFC tenure. ... Sy (11-0 MMA, 2-0 UFC) will aim to keep his professional record unblemished. Although Menifield has significantly more expereince under the UFC banner, Sy has looked great so far. In his debut, he submitted Tuco Tokkos in the opening round, and followed that up with a unanimous decision win over Da Woon Jung.
Alonzo Menifield vs. Oumar Sy UFC on ESPN 69 expert pick, prediction
Despite having more action-packed matchups and appropriate features like local Atlanta fighter Malcolm Wellmaker relegated to the prelims, the main card on ESPN kicks off with light heavyweights Alonzo Menifield and Oumar Sy.
In defense of the UFC matchmakers and their fetish for force-feeding us large men, Menifield and Sy could be an action-filled fight with an empathic ending given the athleticism and finishing potential on both sides.
However, given that both men don't mind grappling (to differing degrees), this could also quickly turn into a three-round artificial insemination reenactment that gets the crowd shouting all sorts of things.
Although a knockout is always on the table with someone like Menifield, I'll officially pick Sy to piss off the live audience by grinding his way to another unanimous decision win.
Alonzo Menifield vs. Oumar Sy UFC on ESPN 69 odds
The oddsmakers and the public are heavily favoring the French fighter, listing Sy -800 and Menifield +520 via FanDuel.
Alonzo Menifield vs. Oumar Sy UFC on ESPN 69 start time, how to watch

Eagles ‘new wrinkle' on offense could help Saquon Barkley continue to dominate in 2025
A collection of NFL scouts, coaches and executives were recently surveyed by ESPN, and Saquon Barkley emerged as the No. 1 running back in football entering the 2025 season. That's hardly breaking news, as Barkley put together arguably the greatest regular- and post-season run in NFL history, helping the Philadelphia Eagles win Super Bowl LIX for the franchise's second championship in eight years. Advertisement Barkley's ability to make game-changing plays for the Eagles' offense isn't in question with training camp just around the corner. The question is how coach Nick Sirianni and newly appointed offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo plan to stay a step ahead of the competition, continuing what at times was an unstoppable ground attack during the team's magical 2024 season. The answer could be a subtle 'new wrinkle' on offense, as analyst Josh Davis of The Philly Special Show recently put it, that debuted with a short sample size last season. The results? An average of over 6 yards per carry on 22 plays. We're talking about Ben VanSumeren, Philly's former undrafted linebacker who's spent the past year converting to fullback.\ 'You could just see from BVS's snaps that the former running back flashed a natural ability as a lead blocker, helping one of the game's best offensive lines open up even more space for Barkley,' Davis said. 'So when you consider the Baltimore Ravens ended up averaging the most rushing yards per game last season, and used fullback Patrick Ricard on 495 snaps… it's as if Philly is sitting on a hidden gem that not a lot of people know about.' VanSumeren will be an important player to watch during Eagles training camp this summer. In 2024, the 25-year-old played 213 snaps on special teams and 22 snaps on offense as a fullback before going down with a season-ending knee injury suffered during a late-November practice. He was back healthy for OTAs, and enters camp working primarily with Philly's offensive skill position players. Advertisement Now, is VanSumeren poised to approach the 500 offensive snaps that Ricard did for Derrick Henry and the Ravens last season? Definitely not. But the former Michigan State product earned himself an extended look working with Philly's offense last season, he's a strong bet to not only make the initial 53-man roster, but to log 100-plus snaps as Barkley's lead blocker in 2025. Euro 2025: England needs to play without fear against the Netherlands to avoid historic early exit
ZURICH (AP) — England has never lost its first two matches at the Women's European Championship. If that changes on Wednesday, the defending champion could very well be out of Euro 2025. England endured a chastening 2-1 loss to France in their opener at the weekend and another defeat when it faces the Netherlands would almost certainly see the Lionesses eliminated — unless tournament debutant Wales manages an upset against France. But forward Alessia Russo said Tuesday that it will be 'massively' important to play without fear. 'That's some of the conversations that we've had within the team,' Russo added. 'We have so many great players and we want everyone to be as free as possible on that pitch tomorrow night and going forward. 'So I think making sure that everyone's in a good headspace, going into that game tomorrow is important and that's what we've been doing as a team.' Against France, England became the first titleholder to lose its opening match at a women's Euros. The Lionesses could set another unwelcome first on Wednesday as no reigning champion has failed to progress to the knockouts since the group stage was introduced for the 1997 tournament. 'We don't talk about consequence, we talk about our game plan,' said England coach Sarina Wiegman, who will be facing her home country. It is an unusual position for Wiegman to be in after her flawless record at the Euros was brought to an end by France. Wiegman had previously won 12 out of 12 matches across two tournaments as she steered first the Netherlands to the title and then England. She has lost only two matches at the World Cup: the 2019 final against the United States when in charge of the Netherlands and the trophy match again four years later, with England against Spain. The 55-year-old Wiegman has not felt this level of pressure so early on in a tournament. 'It's a game, it's a football game. And the outcome, of course, has consequences but that was the same at the final in the Euros and the final in the World Cup,' Wiegman said. 'So then we bring it back to what do we have to do. And the focus is on what actions do we have to take to play our best. And that's the conversations we have with the players. And how can we stick together then. In good moments it's easier.' Apart from the result against France, there was also the manner of the performance, with few positives to take from England's display, save the opening 15 minutes and the finale. Keira Walsh reduced the deficit late on, but her 87th-minute strike was England's first on target. 'Ultimately, we were disappointed after that game,' Russo said. 'Obviously, we came up against a great French side but we know that we can be better and we have really high standards as a team. 'We've had a good few days to switch off, reflect and now we're ready to go again.' In contrast to England, the Netherlands won its opening match comfortably, downing Wales 3-0 with a dominant performance that also saw it hit the woodwork three times. Another victory on Wednesday would see the Dutch book their place in the quarterfinals, as long as Wales does not manage to beat France. The Netherlands faces France in their final match on Sunday, when England plays neighbor Wales in what could prove to be a meaningless match. ___ AP soccer:

Wild blockbuster trade proposal sends Pirates Paul Skenes to Tigers
The Detroit Tigers have the best record in all of Major League Baseball and lead the American League Central by 14 games over the Kansas City Royals and Minnesota Twins. Led by Tarik Skubal, their starting rotation has been solid this season. Skubal won the Cy Young award last season and is following it up with more dominance. Advertisement The Tigers will be an interesting team to watch at the trade deadline, as they'll likely be buyers this summer. They'll have the flexibility to make some big trades. David Schoenfield of ESPN proposed the idea of Detroit actually acquiring Paul Skenes from the Pittsburgh Pirates. "A playoff rotation with Skenes and Tarik Skubal? Thank you very much. Reminder: The Tigers haven't won the World Series since 1984," Schoenfield wrote. "It will take one of the best farm systems in the sport to acquire Skenes, and Detroit is incredibly well positioned to make this kind of deal." Advertisement Follow The Sporting News on WhatsApp This trade proposal has Detroit sending Max Clark, Kevin McGonigle, Jackson Jobe, Colt Keith and Sawyer Gipson-Long to Pittsburgh. Skenes would certainly cost a major haul. But the Tigers do have the prospect capital to get a deal done and land yet another ace. Having both Skenes and Skubal in the same rotation could give them an even better chance to win a World Series title this coming October. It would further cement them as the best team in the Junior Circuit and give them a chance to dethrone the Los Angeles Dodgers. Detroit would also still have a very strong farm system and flexibility to make other trades that bolstered their roster in other areas. It will be interesting to see how Detroit navigates the deadline. More MLB: Tigers facing stiff competition from Yankees for $70 million Gold Glove winner
