He comes into the fight against Sy as a massive underdog, the highest line at the betting window of his UFC tenure. ... Sy (11-0 MMA, 2-0 UFC) will aim to keep his professional record unblemished. Although Menifield has significantly more expereince under the UFC banner, Sy has looked great so far. In his debut, he submitted Tuco Tokkos in the opening round, and followed that up with a unanimous decision win over Da Woon Jung.

Despite having more action-packed matchups and appropriate features like local Atlanta fighter Malcolm Wellmaker relegated to the prelims, the main card on ESPN kicks off with light heavyweights Alonzo Menifield and Oumar Sy.
In defense of the UFC matchmakers and their fetish for force-feeding us large men, Menifield and Sy could be an action-filled fight with an empathic ending given the athleticism and finishing potential on both sides.
However, given that both men don't mind grappling (to differing degrees), this could also quickly turn into a three-round artificial insemination reenactment that gets the crowd shouting all sorts of things.
Although a knockout is always on the table with someone like Menifield, I'll officially pick Sy to piss off the live audience by grinding his way to another unanimous decision win.

ZURICH (AP) — England has never lost its first two matches at the Women's European Championship. If that changes on Wednesday, the defending champion could very well be out of Euro 2025. England endured a chastening 2-1 loss to France in their opener at the weekend and another defeat when it faces the Netherlands would almost certainly see the Lionesses eliminated — unless tournament debutant Wales manages an upset against France. But forward Alessia Russo said Tuesday that it will be 'massively' important to play without fear. 'That's some of the conversations that we've had within the team,' Russo added. 'We have so many great players and we want everyone to be as free as possible on that pitch tomorrow night and going forward. 'So I think making sure that everyone's in a good headspace, going into that game tomorrow is important and that's what we've been doing as a team.' Against France, England became the first titleholder to lose its opening match at a women's Euros. The Lionesses could set another unwelcome first on Wednesday as no reigning champion has failed to progress to the knockouts since the group stage was introduced for the 1997 tournament. 'We don't talk about consequence, we talk about our game plan,' said England coach Sarina Wiegman, who will be facing her home country. The Detroit Tigers have the best record in all of Major League Baseball and lead the American League Central by 14 games over the Kansas City Royals and Minnesota Twins. Led by Tarik Skubal, their starting rotation has been solid this season. Skubal won the Cy Young award last season and is following it up with more dominance. Advertisement The Tigers will be an interesting team to watch at the trade deadline, as they'll likely be buyers this summer. They'll have the flexibility to make some big trades. David Schoenfield of ESPN proposed the idea of Detroit actually acquiring Paul Skenes from the Pittsburgh Pirates. "A playoff rotation with Skenes and Tarik Skubal? Thank you very much. Reminder: The Tigers haven't won the World Series since 1984," Schoenfield wrote. "It will take one of the best farm systems in the sport to acquire Skenes, and Detroit is incredibly well positioned to make this kind of deal." Skenes would certainly cost a major haul. But the Tigers do have the prospect capital to get a deal done and land yet another ace. Having both Skenes and Skubal in the same rotation could give them an even better chance to win a World Series title this coming October. It would further cement them as the best team in the Junior Circuit and give them a chance to dethrone the Los Angeles Dodgers. Detroit would also still have a very strong farm system and flexibility to make other trades that bolstered their roster in other areas.
