Visa Cash App Racing Bulls F1 Team driver Liam Lawson might have had a tough 2025 Formula One season thus far, but that did not stop him from stepping out in style at the F1 movie premiere in New York City tonight (June 16).
For those who need a refresher, Lawson had a disastrous start to his Formula One career, joining Oracle Red Bull Racing for the 2025 Formula One season after stepping in on Red Bull's junior team, Visa Cash App Racing Bulls, the year prior. Unfortunately, he was extremely unsuccessful, getting demoted back to the Visa Cash App Racing Bulls after just two races.
Despite being demoted, Lawson is still struggling on the track, only managing to earn four points all season — poor guy!
Nevertheless, the Kiwi driver still manages to put a smile on his face, grinning ear-to-ear at tonight's F1 movie premiere.
Adding some vintage flair to the evening, Lawson opted for a gray pinstriped suit with black buttons. To compliment his ensemble, the 23-year-old paired the suit a simple white dress shirt, a black belt and black loafers, but his best accessory of all was his girlfriend: Hannah St. John.
The student-turned-social media sensation followed in the footsteps of many of the other F1 partners — Eglė Ruškytė-Hülkenberg, Alexandra Saint Mleux, Flavy Barla and more — rocking a classy-as-can-be black gown. Featuring silver gemstones on the bust area, St. John tied in the glitz and glamour with matching jewelry, as well as a half-up hairstyle that allowed her flawless makeup to steal the show.
Despite wowing attendees with her beauty, St. John stepped aside so her boyfriend could snap some photos with his Visa Cash App Racing Bulls buddies: CEO Peter Bayer, team principal Laurent Mekies and (of course) teammate Isack Hadjar.
I have a feeling this photo will be framed and hung up in the Visa Cash App Racing Bulls hospitality suite!
Nevertheless, aside from Lawson, Max Verstappen, Sergio Pérez, Lewis Hamilton, George Russell, Charles Leclerc, Carlos Sainz Jr., Lando Norris, Oscar Piastri, Fernando Alonso, Lance Stroll, Pierre Gasly, Esteban Ocon, Valtteri Bottas, Zhou Guanyu, Nico Hülkenberg, Kevin Magnussen, Nyck de Vries, Daniel Ricciardo, Yuki Tsunoda, Logan Sargeant and Alex Albon will all make cameos in F1 — how exciting is that?
With our favorite F1 drivers aside, the film is certain to have a great story as well, centered around the life of Sonny Hayes (Brad Pitt), a fictional F1 driver from 1990s who retired after a terrible accident, revisiting the racing world to join rookie Joshua 'Noah' Pearce (Damson Idris) on the on the Apex Grand Prix team (APXGP). Directed by Joseph Kosinski, written by Ehren Kruger and co-produced by Formula One's very own Lewis Hamilton, we seriously cannot contain our excitement for everything it will entail.
If you're anything like us and cannot wait for F1 will hit theaters on June 27, be sure to mark your calendars and snag your tickets.

Toto Wolff Reveals Key Mercedes Issue Behind Performance Slump

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff has pointed out the problem that caused a significant performance slump on the team's W16 F1 car in recent races. Both drivers, George Russell and Andrea Kimi Antonelli, struggled in the last round at Spa-Francorchamps, with the problem now narrowed down to the rear suspension. Following Russell's maiden victory of the season in Canada, he secured P5 in Austria. The British Grand Prix saw him struggle in adverse weather conditions, eventually securing just one point by finishing tenth. In Belgium, the Briton's W16 failed to contend with Charles Leclerc's Ferrari, finishing P5. Kimi Antonelli endured tougher challenges, given his DNFs at the Red Bull Ring and Silverstone, followed by a P16 finish in Belgium last weekend. Wolff pointed out a problem with the upgraded rear axle of the W16 that didn't give drivers enough confidence. As a corrective measure, Mercedes has reverted to the older rear suspension for this weekend's round at the Hungaroring. Wolff told Sky Sports DE, as quoted by RacingNews365: Toto Wolff, Executive Director of Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 Team looks on during qualifying ahead of the F1 Grand Prix of Belgium at Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps on July 26, 2025 in Spa, Belgium. Toto Wolff, Executive Director of Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 Team looks on during qualifying ahead of the F1 Grand Prix of Belgium at Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps on July 26, 2025 in Spa, Belgium."The problem with the new rear axle, which we used for a few races, was mainly in the fact that it made the rear end completely unstable and it didn't give any confidence. "With the old rear axle we do have that [confidence], now that we have the old suspension reinstalled. Both drivers say the problem is gone, so that's considerably better." The effect of reverting to the old rear axle was seen immediately, as Russell finished P8 in FP3, while Kimi Antonelli finished in P5. Mercedes trackside engineering director Andrew Shovlin also confirmed that switching to the old suspension would likely help address performance concerns surrounding the car. He told the media: "We feel that there is a good chance that this will take the car in a better direction. "If it doesn't, we need to look at what else is on the table that may have changed between now and the early races, but honestly that list is quite small by then. "But as with anything, you use the race weekend very much as a forum to experiment and understand. "We're hoping that the conclusion is that this recovers it. If it isn't, we've got more work ahead of us and we'll have to get stuck into that." Mercedes is currently placed third in the Constructors' Championship, 28 points adrift of Ferrari in second. The gap between Mercedes and the leading team, McLaren, stands at 296 points.

Tom Holland Just Gave Us a Proper Look at the ‘Brand New Day' Spider Suit

Friday was Spider-Man Day (maybe), and to mark the occasion, Sony teased the hero's new suit for his next movie, Brand New Day. Now, Tom Holland's gone and shown the full thing. Most of it, at least. On his Instagram, the actor released a video this morning of him walking into a room, stepping into the light to display the new costume in its full glory as a new version of Michael Giacchinno's Spider-Man theme plays. 'We ready?' he asks to someone offscreen, before going off to shoot the movie. Beyond the raised webbing first shown in the teaser, the biggest change is the spider on the chest, which looks to be a little bigger here than it was in his Final Swing suit at the end of No Way Home. Compared to Tobey Maguire's suit and Andrew Garfield's second Amazing threads, it looks in between those in terms of size and length. View this post on InstagramSpeaking of Brand New Day, we also learned on Friday the film would see the return of Mark Ruffalo as the Hulk and Michael Mando as Mac Gargan, aka the Scorpion. The former will mark his first appearance in the Spider-Man corner of the MCU, and Gargan's been MIA since 2017's Spider-Man: Homecoming. (However, the MCU's last few Phases have been big on bringing back its surviving villains.) Ruffalo and Mando are the latest additions to the cast, which includes Jon Bernthal as the Punisher and Sadie Sink and Liza Colón-Zayas in mysterious roles. It's still unclear if Zendaya and Jacob Batalon are back as MJ and Ned, and if so, in what capacity. Directed by Daniel Destin Cretton, Spider-Man: Brand New Day swings into theaters on July 31, 2026. Want more io9 news?
