Liam Lawson Responds to 'False' Red Bull F1 Rumors
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. Racing Bulls driver Liam Lawson addressed speculation about his time at Red Bull and made his stance clear. Lawson replaced Sergio Perez heading into the 2025 season after an impressive stint with Racing Bulls. After just two race weekends, Lawson ended up getting axed and replaced by former teammate Yuki Tsunoda. The New Zealander didn't make it out of Q1 during his time at Red Bull and finished at the bottom of the pack during the races. More Photo byMeanwhile, champion Max Verstappen fought for podium finishes in the same car, and the gap between the two drivers was untenable for the team. After his demotion to Racing Bulls, several reports suggested that Lawson had lost confidence, but, in a recent interview, he denied this notion. "I think I would say one thing to be clear about is that between the first couple of races, to the team switch, then going to Japan, mentally for me nothing changed," he told "It's been very heavily speculated that my confidence took a hit and stuff like this, which is completely false. From the start of the year, I felt the same as I always have. "I think in two races, on tracks I'd never been to, it's not really enough for my confidence... maybe six months into a season, if I'm still at that level, if the results are still like that, then I'd be feeling something – maybe my confidence would be taking a hit. "I was well aware that those results weren't good enough, but I was just focused on improving, fixing and learning, basically. I was in the same mindset as I have been since I came into F1." Lawson felt he wasn't given enough time during his stint at Red Bull, especially for a relatively inexperienced driver who never raced at a top-flight team. Since he swapped teams, Lawson is getting beaten by his teammate Isack Hadjar. There are indicators that he may be settling in with the team. He finished in P6 at the Austrian Grand Prix after starting at the same position. For the first time this season, he showed why he was trusted with a seat at Red Bull in the first place. Meanwhile, Tsunoda isn't fairing much better than Lawson at Red Bull. The Japanese driver manages to get the car out of Q1 more often, but he has experienced several low points similar to Lawson's. Even Verstappen is facing issues with the RB-21. As Red Bull's struggles continue, Lawson's poor form at the start of the season becomes understandable. Now, he faces a 12-race run to prove he still merits a spot on the F1 grid. For more F1 news, head on over to Newsweek Sports.

F1 Rookie, 20, Raises Concerns as Alleged Attitude Problem Comes to Light at NYC ‘F1' Movie Premiere: ‘Not Stoked'
F1 Rookie, 20, Raises Concerns as Alleged Attitude Problem Comes to Light at NYC 'F1' Movie Premiere: 'Not Stoked' originally appeared on Parade. As F1 gears up to hit theaters on June 27, the 2025 Formula One grid is stepping out in style, ready to show their support at the F1 movie premiere in New York City tonight (June 16). Well, maybe not the entire grid, as one F1 driver is facing controversy after seeming rather uninterested in the oh-so special evening: Visa Cash App Racing Bulls F1 Team rookie Isack Hadjar. For those who are unfamiliar, F1 — directed by Joseph Kosinski, written by Ehren Kruger and starring Brad Pitt, Damson Idris, Kerry Condon, Tobias Menzies, Kim Bodnia, Javier Bardem and more — is a film centered around the life of Sonny Hayes (Pitt), a fictional F1 driver from 1990s who retired after a terrible accident, revisiting the racing world to join rookie Joshua 'Noah' Pearce (Idris) on the on the Apex Grand Prix team (APXGP). While the movie itself looks nothing short of sensational, fans are equally as excited for cameos from their favorite F1 drivers, who will make brief appearances throughout F1: Max Verstappen, Sergio Pérez, Lewis Hamilton, George Russell, Charles Leclerc, Carlos Sainz Jr., Lando Norris, Oscar Piastri, Fernando Alonso, Lance Stroll, Pierre Gasly, Esteban Ocon, Valtteri Bottas, Zhou Guanyu, Nico Hülkenberg, Kevin Magnussen, Nyck de Vries, Daniel Ricciardo, Liam Lawson, Yuki Tsunoda, Logan Sargeant and Alex Albon. Although he will not be featured in the film, Hadjar put on his finest fit to attend the F1 movie premiere, rocking an oversized brown suit that looked cool-as-can-be. He paired the blazer with a white Hugo shirt underneath, and to accessorize the outfit, the 20-year-old opted for a bold black watch, as well as some black-and-white sneakers. While Hadjar certainly posed for some sexy solo shots, he also caught up with his Visa Cash App Racing Bulls buddies, snapping some photos with his teammate, Liam Lawson, as well as team principal Laurent Mekies and CEO Peter Bayer. How sweet is that? Although Isack was all smiles in a majority of the photos from the F1 movie premiere, as mentioned previously, Formula One fans jumped to conclusions after the official Formula One Instagram account shared an image of the French driver looking rather grim. "Why Hadjar looks sad bro 😭" one fan wrote in the comment section of the post, while others added "Hadjar did not wanna be there 💀" and "Isack was clearly not stoked to watch this movie again 💀" "Someone check up on Hadjar and Lawson," a fourth fan wrote, looping his teammate into the allegationa as well. Based on the rest of the photos and videos from the evening, we're going to go out on a limb and say that the official Formula One Instagram account caught Hadjar in a bad moment, but could there be more to the story? Needless to say, we will be obsessively refreshing social media for the rest of the evening for any further updates. Hadjar aside, be sure to mark your calendars — F1 will hit theaters on June 27, and it is truly a must-see for Formula One fans everywhere. Controversial Driver's Striking ‘F1' Movie Premiere Attire Proves to Be Better Than His Driving Skills
Controversial Driver's Striking 'F1' Movie Premiere Attire Proves to Be Better Than His Driving Skills originally appeared on Parade. Visa Cash App Racing Bulls F1 Team driver Liam Lawson might have had a tough 2025 Formula One season thus far, but that did not stop him from stepping out in style at the F1 movie premiere in New York City tonight (June 16). For those who need a refresher, Lawson had a disastrous start to his Formula One career, joining Oracle Red Bull Racing for the 2025 Formula One season after stepping in on Red Bull's junior team, Visa Cash App Racing Bulls, the year prior. Unfortunately, he was extremely unsuccessful, getting demoted back to the Visa Cash App Racing Bulls after just two races. Despite being demoted, Lawson is still struggling on the track, only managing to earn four points all season — poor guy! Nevertheless, the Kiwi driver still manages to put a smile on his face, grinning ear-to-ear at tonight's F1 movie premiere. Adding some vintage flair to the evening, Lawson opted for a gray pinstriped suit with black buttons. To compliment his ensemble, the 23-year-old paired the suit a simple white dress shirt, a black belt and black loafers, but his best accessory of all was his girlfriend: Hannah St. John. The student-turned-social media sensation followed in the footsteps of many of the other F1 partners — Eglė Ruškytė-Hülkenberg, Alexandra Saint Mleux, Flavy Barla and more — rocking a classy-as-can-be black gown. Featuring silver gemstones on the bust area, St. John tied in the glitz and glamour with matching jewelry, as well as a half-up hairstyle that allowed her flawless makeup to steal the show. Despite wowing attendees with her beauty, St. John stepped aside so her boyfriend could snap some photos with his Visa Cash App Racing Bulls buddies: CEO Peter Bayer, team principal Laurent Mekies and (of course) teammate Isack Hadjar. I have a feeling this photo will be framed and hung up in the Visa Cash App Racing Bulls hospitality suite! Nevertheless, aside from Lawson, Max Verstappen, Sergio Pérez, Lewis Hamilton, George Russell, Charles Leclerc, Carlos Sainz Jr., Lando Norris, Oscar Piastri, Fernando Alonso, Lance Stroll, Pierre Gasly, Esteban Ocon, Valtteri Bottas, Zhou Guanyu, Nico Hülkenberg, Kevin Magnussen, Nyck de Vries, Daniel Ricciardo, Yuki Tsunoda, Logan Sargeant and Alex Albon will all make cameos in F1 — how exciting is that? With our favorite F1 drivers aside, the film is certain to have a great story as well, centered around the life of Sonny Hayes (Brad Pitt), a fictional F1 driver from 1990s who retired after a terrible accident, revisiting the racing world to join rookie Joshua 'Noah' Pearce (Damson Idris) on the on the Apex Grand Prix team (APXGP). Directed by Joseph Kosinski, written by Ehren Kruger and co-produced by Formula One's very own Lewis Hamilton, we seriously cannot contain our excitement for everything it will entail. If you're anything like us and cannot wait for F1 will hit theaters on June 27, be sure to mark your calendars and snag your tickets.
