Two injured in Park Street parking fracas
Kolkata: A security guard and the supervisor of a commercial building located on Park Street were injured in a parking brawl on Friday afternoon. Cops have registered an FIR against six persons. The incident happened at Poddar Point, 113 Park Street, when security guard Dwip Giri confronted several individuals over illegal parking around 2.18 pm. The situation escalated when the building supervisor, Avishek Bose, who attempted to mediate the conflict, was threatened and physically assaulted by the group. Police are certain that the two sides got into an argument over a parking dispute that obstructed free movement of others. Probe is underway to ascertain what triggered such a response from the accused. The investigating officer from Park Street said, "What began as a verbal altercation quickly turned violent." Both victims were taken to Calcutta National Medical College & Hospital, where they received treatment for their injuries and were discharged. The supervisor sustained multiple bruises from fist blows, according to medical reports. The police have registered cases under sections pertaining to voluntarily causing hurt, criminal intimidation, and acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention of the BNS. "We have identified all six accused through CCTV footage and are now matching witness accounts," said the officer. The management has announced enhanced security measures following the incident. "We have been informed that they are installing additional cameras and increasing security personnel during peak hours," said a cop. The police have promised increased patrolling and stricter enforcement of parking regulations to prevent similar incidents in the future.
