Colorado's updated 2026 recruiting class ranking after several July commitments
Offensive tackles Colby Johnson and Xavier Payne, along with defensive back D'Montae Tims and linebacker Carson Crawford, all joined the Buffs since July 1.
The four additions raise Colorado's recruiting class to eight total commitments after a slow start to this year's cycle. After spending much of the spring outside the top 100 nationally, the Buffs are now No. 88 in the nation but still rank last in the Big 12.
Deion Sanders and company still have plenty of work to do if they want another top 25 recruiting class, but with the recent wave of commitments and a few others expected soon, momentum is building.
Many have suggested that Deion Sanders' absence from the program while dealing with an unspecified health issue has hurt Colorado's recruiting efforts. However, with Sanders back with the team after his appearance at Big 12 media days this week, it suggests the program's recruiting efforts are looking up as the program gears up to begin preseason camp in a couple of weeks.

'I think Texas A&M makes the playoff': SEC football analyst predicts Aggie CFP bid
While many media members at the Southeastern Conference's media days predicted Texas A&M to finish in the middle of the pack in league play this season, one college football analyst made a bold prediction for the Aggies to reach this year's College Football Playoff. Rusty Mansell, co-owner and publisher of DawgsHQ, joined Michael Bratton (SEC Mike) on "That SEC Podcast" to talk SEC football following a packed week in Atlanta, Georgia. With the league's annual preseason meetings concluding and fall camp set to kick off shortly, SEC Mike asked Mansell to provide the boldest take heading into the 2025 campaign. Mansell's response? He believes that the Aggies are primed for a CFP bid this season, which would mark the program's first playoff appearance if those hopes come to fruition. Here is the full clip from "That SEC Podcast" where Mansell and SEC Mike discussed Texas A&M's potential heading into the second year under head coach Mike Elko: Whether the Aggies will reach the CFP will be determined by how the program handles one of the toughest schedules in the country. Ranked as the No. 9 slate by ESPN metrics, Texas A&M will have road tests against Notre Dame, LSU and Texas, all of which will have massive postseason implications. Having a talented gunslinger at the helm will help the Aggies stay on course, however. Marcel Reed enters his sophomore year in College Station after throwing for 1,864 yards and 15 touchdowns in 11 games played last season. The two-time SEC Freshman of the Week honoree (Sep. 16 and Oct. 28) also recorded 547 yards and seven touchdowns on the ground. With experience under his belt and targets like former ACC Freshman Offensive Player of the Year KC Concepcion surrounding him, Reed has all the pieces to complete the puzzle and lead the Aggies to the CFP in 2025. While the Texas A&M secondary has been a weak spot of the defensive unit for a long time, that could soon change as well with the return of Will Lee III and the addition of transfer standouts Julian Humphrey (Georgia) and Jordan Shaw (Washington), rounding out the Aggie secondary this season. Can the Aggies defy the odds and reach the 2025-2026 CFP? The Maroon and White faithful will have to wait just 41 more days before those answers begin to unfold on the gridiron at Kyle Field. Twins avert series sweep against the Rockies in 7-1 victory
Royce Lewis hit two home runs — his first career multihomer game — and Joe Ryan struck out 11 in seven innings as the Minnesota Twins beat the Colorado Rockies 7-1 on Sunday to prevent a three-game sweep. Coming off his first All-Star appearance, Ryan (10-4) gave up one run and five hits with no walks. The right-hander worked a scoreless fourth inning with two strikeouts in the All-Star Game last Tuesday night at Atlanta. Griffin Jax and Jhoan Duran each threw a scoreless inning of relief for the Twins. Matt Wallner hit a two-run homer off starter Germán Márquez (3-11) in the third and Harrison Bader added a solo shot for the Twins. Willi Castro tripled leading off the ninth and scored on a throwing error by shortstop Orlando Arcia to make it 7-1. Mickey Moniak homered in the third for Colorado. Jordan Beck and Ryan McMahon each had two hits. Castro drew a leadoff walk, moved to second on a groundout by Carlos Correa and scored on a triple by Kody Clemens before Wallner's homer gave the Twins a 3-1 lead in the third. Minnesota racked up 12 hits — six for extra bases — and Twins pitchers had 13 strikeouts. The Twins hadn't announced a starter yet for Monday against Shohei Ohtani (0-0, 1.00 ERA) and the Dodgers in Los Angeles. The Rockies begin a three-game set against St. Louis.

Deion Sanders 'not all the way recovered' from health issue but planning return soon
Colorado football coach Deion Sanders said in a video posted by his eldest son on Sunday, July 20 that he's 'not all the way recovered' but otherwise showed signs of returning to his job in Boulder soon after recently battling an undisclosed health issue this summer. 'You know I'm still going through something,' Sanders said to his daughter Shelomi and son Deion Jr. 'I ain't all the way recovered.' The video posted by Deion Jr. then shows him dipping his legs in an ice bath. The same video showed him more physically active than before, with footage of him shooting baskets on a basketball court, sitting down after tennis lessons and discussing a 'run-walk' he finished at his estate in Texas. 'I'm getting better, though, right?' Sanders said to his youngest daughter Shelomi in the video. Sanders appeared at a Big 12 Conference media days event on July 9 in Frisco, Texas, but declined to reveal the health issue that has kept him away from campus in Boulder while a wave of recruits visited in June. Recruits were told he was out sick. While recovering in Texas, Sanders, 57, also missed a number of events in May and June, including the wedding of his star player, Travis Hunter, on May 24 in Tennessee, a speaking appearance in Florida scheduled for June 8 and Colorado's annual youth and high school camps in Boulder in June. GONE FROM CAMPUS: Did Deion Sanders' absence affect Colorado's recruiting? 'I got on the phone with him' Colorado doesn't open preseason football practice until late July and doesn't open the season until Aug 29 against Georgia Tech. But Sanders indicated he's coming back soon. In a video posted by his son Shilo on July 16, Sanders is heard talking on the phone with Shilo and telling him that he would try his best to rent a plane to visit him in Florida before visiting his other son, Shedeur, in Ohio as they try to make the rosters of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Cleveland Browns. 'And then go to work,' Sanders said. In an interview with media personality Phillip Dukes posted on July 17, Deion Jr. also gave an update from Texas. "We headed back to Colorado next week," Deion Jr. said. "It's a blessing. It's been a long journey, a long road and soon everybody will know the reason I haven't left this house this summer. ... Everyone will know in the next few weeks or so." In another video posted on July 17, Sanders said Shedeur recently mentioned his father's weight loss and said he looked like Lil Duval, the comedian and actor. In late May, Deion Sanders said on a podcast with former NFL cornerback Asante Samuel that he had lost 14 pounds related to his health issue.
