Does Apple offer early July 4 sales?
It's important to note that while the Apple Store doesn't run sales for July 4 (and rarely offers discounts outside of educational promos), deals on Apple devices and accessories can be found from authorized retailers, including Amazon.
The best deals usually accompany big events like Amazon Prime Day or a major holiday, both of which are coming up. There are plenty of sales where you can find discounted Apple products, including Best Buy and Walmart, making it an excellent time to shop for Apple sales on several devices. If you're looking to spend less, try foregoing the latest releases. You'll find bigger discounts on previous-generation models or refurbished devices.
Should I wait until Prime Day for deals on Apple products?
There's no definitive way to say whether Fourth of July sales or Prime Day deals are best. Both sales offer plenty of deals, including some of the best prices we'll see all year. Plus, in all likelihood, the two sales are going to blur into one big discount extravaganza, given their expected proximity.
Fourth of July sales offer more variety in retailers, though much of your shopping may take place on Amazon anyway. There are also plenty of non-Amazon retailers that will keep their sales rolling through mid-July, often directly competing with Amazon Prime prices. Since you'll be able to shop so many Fourth of July sales in just a few weeks, you'll be able to check out the deals, grab what you need and then keep tabs on Prime Day deals later for anything you miss out on.
How does CNET select the best July 4 deals?
Our team of expert shoppers and deal hunters has spent years helping buyers understand which major sales and deals are legitimately good and which are more routine. That includes Black Friday, Prime Day, Memorial Day and countless other shopping events. We've gotten good at weeding out scams and superficial deals on tech of every kind, so you see only the best offers, including Apple deals.
At CNET, we look for real discounts, quality reviews and remaining sale time when choosing a deal to show you.

Fed up with AI slop? Here's how DuckDuckGo can help

If you've had enough of AI-generated images filling up your search results, then the DuckDuckGo search engine is here to help. The Pennsylvania-based company recently announced an easy way to filter out AI-generated images from search results on its privacy-focused search engine. Recommended Videos To try it, simply make a search on DuckDuckGo and then head to the Images tab. You'll see a new drop-down option that says, 'AI images: show.' Select it and then select 'AI images: hide,' and then voilà, your page of images will appear slop-free! Alternatively — and this is a neat touch — if you want the feature auto-enabled on DuckDuckGo's search engine, all you need to do is bookmark This page also hides DuckDuckGo's AI-assisted summaries and AI chat icons. 'Our philosophy about AI features is 'private, useful, and optional,'' DuckDuckGo said in a post on X announcing the new feature. 'Our goal is to help you find what you're looking for. You should decide for yourself how much AI you want in your life — or if you want any at all.' The company said that its new filter blocks AI-generated images by using community-made lists that identify known AI image sources. It checks images against these lists and then hides from its search results the ones flagged as AI-generated. It added that while it won't catch 100% of AI-generated results, 'it will greatly reduce the number of AI-generated images you see.' DuckDuckGo's attempt to give people more control over the presence of AI-generated images in search results is a notable effort by the company toward preserving the integrity and usability of its search engine as the internet becomes increasingly filled with content created by AI tools. It's great that DuckDuckGo is listening to user gripes about the proliferation of synthetic images, with the new feature sure to prove popular among folks keen for real images in their results. Now, if only the social media sites would follow suit …

Europe Prepares for a U.S. Trade Fight

BRUSSELS—The European Union thought it was on the verge of a deal with the U.S. to keep tariffs in check. Now it is readying a counterattack. U.S. officials told the EU's trade chief this past week that they expect President Trump to demand further concessions from the bloc to get an agreement, including a baseline tariff on most European goods that could be in the range of 15% or higher, according to people briefed on the talks.
