Returning for the farewell run — which is on track for a 2026 premiere — are Robson Green as Geordie, Rishi Nair as Alphy, Al Weaver as Leonard Finch, Tessa Peake-Jones as Mrs. C, Kacey Ainsworth as Cathy Keating, Oliver Dimsdale as Daniel Marlowe, Nick Brimble as Jack Chapman, Bradley Hall as DC Larry Peters and Melissa Johns as Miss Scott.
See a photo of the cast at the final season premiere's read-through:
As Season 11 gets underway, 'It's the heady Summer of '63, and Alphy is learning more about his past,' the official synopsis begins. 'He comes to realize that there is a whole other life he could have led, making him question who he is and what he believes in. He's also continuing to get to know Meg, the Bishop's daughter….'
Geordie, meanwhile, 'for once is positively brimming with bonhomie! He's learned to weather the storms of life and is enjoying a time of relative peace,' and 'Cathy's happy now that CeCe's Fashion Boutique is a success, and the kids are old enough to look after themselves.' But then, out of the blue, 'the Chief Superintendent comes to Geordie with a beguiling offer,' the overview continues. 'It could be a chance for Geordie to finally be in charge, but it could also mean an end of his crime solving days. And his crime solving partnership with Alphy.'
Elsewhere, Leonard, during a quiet period at the halfway house, is led to 'take stock of his own life and whether he's doing enough with it. When one of Daniel's neighbors becomes ill, Leonard is drawn into helping care for the neighbor's son, Raymond – and discovers a paternal side to himself he never knew he had.'
All told, 'In Season 11 everyone will question the paths they are on, and some huge decisions will be made. This season will look at family, forgiveness, identity, and faith…. Big changes are coming to Grantchester.'
Series creator Daisy Coulam said in a statement, 'At its heart, Grantchester is a show about the power of friendship and love. We've been so lucky over the last 11 series to experience that on and off screen. For over a decade now — cast and crew (many who've been there since the beginning) have met each Summer to film. And it's been an absolute joy.'
Susanne Simpson, MASTERPIECE Head of Scripted Content, added, 'Grantchester has been one of the rare series that has a certain magic to everything about it. The show has found its way into the hearts of countless MASTERPIECE viewers with its warmth, humor, and sense of community…. We are so proud to have been a part of this extraordinary partnership for so long.'
Longtime franchise front man Robson Green said, 'From the very beginning, I have had the incredible fortune to be part of this extraordinary team of talented, passionate, and dedicated individuals who have become more than colleagues. They have become family. I have made friendships forged through shared laughter, challenges, and triumphs. The bonds we've formed extend far beyond the camera lens, and I know that they will endure long after the final scene within the Grantchester world has been filmed. Thank you to everyone who has been part of this incredible journey.'

Netflix ‘Building the Band' Release Schedule

Building the Band will hit our screens this week, on Wednesday, July, 9 to be exact, with 50 singers looking for band members. The twist? They can't see each other. (Think Love Is Blind, but this time the contestants are looking for bandmates instead of a life partner.) The show is hosted by Backstreet Boys star AJ McLean, with Nicole Scherzinger acting as head judge and mentor to the contestants, while Kelly Rowland and late star Liam Payne will join her as guest judges on the panel. The series will be released in a distinctive three-week roll out. So you don't miss a moment from the new Netflix show, here's a full release schedule. Building The Band starts on Netflix on Wednesday 9th July. Episodes will be available to stream from 3 am EST. The search for the next best group will begin on Building the Band, but there's a twist - the talented contestants will choose their band members based solely on their vocals... The official synopsis explains: 'Building the Band brings together talented singers for a truly unique competition show where building the perfect band is all about chemistry. The singers are in complete control as they seek to form their very own bands in individual 'booths' without ever seeing each other. 'All they have to go on is musical compatibility, connection, chemistry and merit. What will happen when the bands finally meet, and looks, choreography, and style come into play? With incredible performances, compelling drama, and one big goal - to find the next great music band - the stage is set for an unforgettable experience.' There are 10 episodes in total for Building the Band. The episodes will be released in a three-week roll out, following the singers' journeys from blind auditions and band reveals to practice sessions and performance showcases. Below is the full schedule: Building the Band will start on Netflix on Wednesday 9th July.

Liam Payne's Family React To Netflix's ‘Building the Band'

Liam Payne's final TV project Building the Band will air on Netflix tomorrow (Wednesday 9th July). Hosted by Backstreet Boys star AJ McLean, the show will see 50 singers select their potential bandmates based purely on vocal chemistry without ever seeing one another in isolated booths—think Love Is Blind meets The Voice. Nicole Scherzinger will serve as a mentor and judge, and will be joined by guest judges Kelly Rowland and the late Liam Payne, who sadly passed away on October 16, 2024, in Buenos Aires, Argentina. As the new series airs on Netflix, here's how his family reacted to the show. Following the trailer release, Nicola shared a heartfelt message on her Instagram Stories. 'Over the years I've shared many achievements and momentous occasions as a proud sister and I couldn't be prouder of this show,' Nicola, 37, wrote. 'And I know you are so proud too.' She continued: 'Watching this over the past few months has given me/us a way to still feel close to you and see you at your best and I'm so glad the world gets to see it all now too. You truly are a shining star, miss you more than words can say, love you more than that.' Ruth also responded to the trailer, writing on her own Story: 'I didn't know whether to share this but it felt weird when I've raved about Liam's work and achievements for the last 15 years. I'm heartbroken he never got to see how great he is in this show. 'He knew he had done a good job. We all told him this when we were at filming, but watching it back, wow!' The 34-year-old continued: 'You're a star Liam, you always were and always will be. There are a range of emotions I felt watching this, but one of the main ones is immeasurable pride always. Miss you more everyday.' A statement from Netflix said: 'Liam Payne's family reviewed the series and is supportive of his inclusion.' A source added: 'Netflix have gone out of their way to make sure his family are happy. Producers sent them the footage so they are fully aware of what to expect and they have given it their blessing.' Building the Band starts on Netflix on Wednesday 9th July.

'Tiger King' cast member 'Doc' Antle sentenced for animal trafficking

July 8 (UPI) -- Bhagavan "Doc" Antle of "Tiger King" is going to federal prison for crimes related to trafficking exotic animals after being sentenced Tuesday in Charleston, S.C. U.S. District Court of South Carolina Judge Joseph Lawson III sentenced Antle, 65, to serve 12 months and one day, plus a $55,000 fine and three years of supervised release for violating the Lacey Act, WBTW reported. The Lacey Act bans the sale of illegally acquired wildlife, fish or plants, including those that are designated as protected species by the federal government. Antle entered guilty pleas to conspiracy and money laundering charges in November 2023 and was a cast member of the popular Netflix documentary series "Tiger King" that debuted on Netflix in March 2020. "I made a mistake," Antle told the court on Tuesday. "I did stupid things that never should have taken place, and I'm hoping to pull it back together." Antle founded the Myrtle Beach Safari wildlife preserve in South Carolina and was accused of conspiring to arrange the purchase or sale of two tigers, two lion cubs, two cheetah cubs and a young chimpanzee from September 2018 to May 2020. The animals are protected by the federal Endangered Species Act. Federal prosecutors said Antle hid the transactions by using bulk cash payments and falsified paperwork to hide the financial transactions by making them appear to be donations to the non-profit wildlife preserve. Antle also was accused of laundering proceeds in exchange for a 15% fee related to transporting and harboring "illegal aliens" from February to April 2022. Police arrested Antle in June 2022 on charges of wildlife trafficking, for which he was convicted on four counts in a commonwealth court in Frederick County, Va., in 2023, WCIV reported. The Virginia court sentenced Antle to a suspended sentence of two concurrent years for each charge and $10,000 in fines. An appellate court overturned two of those convictions, and he was banned from working with, possessing, trading or otherwise engaging in activities involving non-native species in Virginia for five years. Two of Antle's employees also were convicted for their part in the criminal activities. Meredith Bybee served a year of probation for selling a chimpanzee, and Andrew Sawyer served two years of probation for helping Antle launder money.
