TUI and Jet2 passengers told to do one thing 'six hours before flight'

Yahooa day ago

Millions of Brits are gearing up to fly away on holiday in the coming weeks, with people advised to read up on the travel rules ahead of their trips.
This includes when check-in for a flight opens and closes.
Different airlines have different rules regarding this, so those with flights booked have been advised to familiarise themselves with what they should do before arriving at the airport.

TUI and Jet2 do share a similar position on when check-in closes, NottinghamshireLive reports.
According to the airlines' websites, online check-in with both closes six hours before the flight is due to depart.
Online check-in closes two hours before departure with easyJet and Ryanair, three hours prior with Wizz Air, and one hour before take-off with British Airways.
TUI passengers are usually able to check in online from either 14 days or 48 hours before your flight, depending on whether you've pre-booked seats or not.
There are exceptions, such as for flights to Mexico, Jamaica, and Costa Rica, where online check-in doesn't open until 24 hours before departure.
And with Jet2, online check-in opens 28 days before the flight, and with easyJet this is 30 days in advance.
Ryanair online check-in opens either 60 days or 24 hours before the scheduled flight departure, depending on whether or not you've paid for an assigned seat.
If you miss the online check-in window, you may still be able to check in at the airport.
Check-in desks for TUI generally close 45 minutes before take-off, while those for Jet2, Ryanair, easyJet and Wizz Air close 40 minutes before the flight.
If you're flying long-haul with British Airways, desks will close "at least 60 minutes" before departure, or 45 minutes prior if you're flying short-haul.

Small and 'picturesque' Sussex spot named among the UK's best for a short break

A small and "picturesque" city in Sussex has been named among the best places in the country for a short break. Which? has revealed the best city breaks in the UK for 2025. Following its latest survey of almost 4,000 Which? members, it narrowed down the best large UK cities for a short break. The survey also named the best medium-sized and best small UK cities for a short break. In April 2024, Which? asked 3,967 members to rate UK cities and towns they'd visited for leisure purposes and stayed in for at least one night in the past two years. Making the list of best small UK cities for a short break was Chichester, in West Sussex. The city earned a 69% on its customer score, which is based on a combination of overall satisfaction and how likely people are to recommend the city as a holiday destination to a friend. Each city was also ranked based on its average hotel price, food and drink, accommodation, cultural sights, shopping, ease of getting around, lack of crowds, parking and value for money. Wells, just below Bath in Somerset, got the highest customer score of anywhere in the survey with 86% and was the number one small UK cities for a short break. It was not the only spot in Sussex to be recognised. Brighton and Hove was named on the list of the best large UK cities for a short break. Chichester was recently named one of Britain's happiest places to live. On Chichester, the list by The Guardian said: "Bounded by the South Downs and the sea, Chichester's medieval graces have escaped the commuter belt blight because the 90-minute train journey puts it just out of range of London. "Dominating the city centre is the 11th-century cathedral with world-class choristers and art by Marc Chagall, John Piper and Elizabeth Frink mingling with Anglo-Saxon reliefs and medieval vaulting." It adds: "However you like to spend your spare time, you will find something to do in Chichester. There's a weekly street market in the city centre selling local produce and crafts, which is a happy place to potter. "Chichester Festival Theatre launches new works into the West End and beyond and has a stream of plays, comedy and family entertainment. And you have the great outdoors on your doorstep." Regarding things to do in the city, Visit Chichester lists recommends places such as the City Walls, Priory Park, Novium Museum and Chichester Art Trail. Visit Chichester adds: "Further afield, there's no better place to make the most of the great outdoors than the Witterings. The pretty market towns of Midhurst and Petworth and the seaside town of Selsey are not far away and well worth a visit whilst you're in the area."

Cannes is done with huge cruise ships. The French city is joining the overtourism backlash

PARIS (AP) — The French Riviera resort of Cannes is imposing what its city council calls 'drastic regulation' on cruise ships, banning any vessels carrying more than 1,000 people from its harbor starting next year. The home of the world's premier film festival is joining a growing global backlash against overtourism, which recently saw uproar over Jeff Bezos' and Lauren Sanchez' Venice wedding this weekend, water-gun protests in Spain and a surprise strike at the Louvre Museum. 'Less numerous, less big, less polluting and more esthetic' — that's the aim of Cannes city councilors who voted Friday to introduce new limits on cruise ships in its ports starting Jan. 1. Only ships with fewer than 1,000 passengers will be allowed in the port, with a maximum of 6,000 passengers disembarking per day. Larger ships will be expected to transfer passengers to smaller boats to enter Cannes. France — which drew in some 100 million visitors last year, more than any other European country and more than the country's population — is on the front line of efforts to balance economic benefits of tourism with environmental concerns while managing ever-growing crowds. 'Cannes has become a major cruise ship destination, with real economic benefits. It's not about banning cruise ships, but about regulating, organizing, setting guidelines for their navigation,' Mayor David Lisnard said in a statement. Cruise operators have called such restrictions damaging for destinations and for passengers. Two cruise ships were scheduled to dock in Cannes on Sunday, each bigger than the upcoming 1,000-passenger limit and with a combined capacity of more than 7,000 people. Their owners did not immediately respond to requests for comment on the new restrictions. The nearby Mediterranean city of Nice announced limits on cruise ships earlier this year, as have some other European cities.
