David Tennant perfectly examplifies how to parent a nonbinary child

Metro02-05-2025
David Tennant and Georgia Tennant have highlighted how to be the perfect parent allies.
The actor is best known for playing the 10th and 14th incarnations of Doctor Who, and his roles in hit dramas from Good Omens to Broadchurch.
But more recently, it has been his vocal support of the LGBTQ+ society and the trans community that has made headlines.
Last year, he told Kemi Badenoch, the Leader of the Conservative Party, to 'shut up' at the British LGBT Awards, and this week gave a dignified response to Rowling during an episode of ITV's The Assembly.
Despite being private about his home life with his wife, Georgia, 40, and their five children together. The couple has perfectly highlighted how to be parents and allies to children.
Marking their child's 12th birthday, Georgia shared an image of Wilfred in a navy jumper, with blonde plaits and a birthday badge.
The adorable caption celebrated their birthday with a sweet message that read: 'Our kid is 12 today. 12 years of being exactly who they are. 12 years of challenging people's perceptions, 12 years of forever changing ours. 12 years of being the smartest person in the room. And the funniest.
'12 years of loving you. For who you are now and whomever you end up being. I am so glad you exist. #moveoverryanrichardisinthehouse.

The post was completely on brand for the couple who have continued to celebrate their child's identity, without making it a huge topic of conversation.
The same took place on Wilfred's 11th birthday when Georgia shared: 'Happy 11th Birthday to you. I won't ever be able to express how important you are to the world but I suspect you'll do that for me. Your kindness, humor and fearlessness is second only to your pretty intense love for Ryan Reynolds. I am so proud of who you are, always x ps. Get off my Instagram and tidy your room.'
While it should be the bare minimum for any parent, the couple has highlighted how to support a child, while still maintaining their anonymity with strategically placed emojis.
The couple hasn't publicly spoken about having a nonbinary child, likely in an effort to protect their 12-year-old, but will use they/them pronouns when referring to their middle child.

The couple has five children together, 23-year old actor Ty – best known for appearing in House of The Dragon, Olive, 14, Wilfred, 12, Doris, 10, and Birdie, five.
On Georgia's social media, she has highlighted how important pride and advocating for LGBTQ+ issues is to their family – making the support of the community issue as something they are united in.
Images show the whole Tennant gang wearing rainbow colours for Pride, wearing t-shirts that support gay rights, and encouraging their children to wave the pride flag whenever they like.
The parents have spoken about their style of parenting, and truthfully admitted that they are just figuring it out along the way.
In 2020, David told Radio Times: 'I think parenting is often sentimentalised, and sort of cleaned-up for consumption, and in my own experience being a parent, it's hit and miss, and full of triumphs and disasters.'
Speaking to Candid magazine, he added: 'Our kids are lovely, and I think that being a dad is one of the most extraordinary and life-affirming things that can ever happen to you, as well as being something you have to keep working at if you're going to be any good at it.'
Talking on his own podcast, he also emphasised that he and Georgia constantly remind their children how much they love them. More Trending
'My mum and dad were very loving. But it was never very expressed. And it was expressed their presence and their actions and, their consistency, but not particularly tactile. I don't remember us as a family saying, 'I love you' to each other.
He added: 'We do that to our kids all the time. Too much and they do it back. That's not an experience I had growing up.
'I mean, I never doubted for a second that we were adored. No, but it was always understood rather than exhibited. No, that's not true. It was exhibited, but it wasn't stated.'

Olivia Attwood to front new reality TV cooking show

The Heat will take place in Barcelona and involve 10 chefs working under Michelin star chef Jean-Christophe Novelli, as he tries to find the next rising star for his new restaurant in the Spanish city. The show, which will be broadcast on ITV2 and ITVX next year, is not a straightforward cooking competition, as each day the cameras will keep rolling once the cast have finished in the kitchen. Viewers can expect promotions, demotions, power plays, sackings and shock decisions throughout the series, according to producers. Attwood, who has presented a number of documentaries for ITV, said: 'It is such an honour to host this brand-new format for ITV2 and ITVX. Being at the helm of something this fresh and exciting is a total pinch-me moment!' Novelli, who has previously appeared as a judge on Masterchef Australia, said: 'I couldn't be more thrilled to join this new exciting show and help spotlight the next generation of culinary talent. 'Known for my drive and intensity in the kitchen, I'll be using my passion and unique teaching style to push these young chefs to dig deep, stay sharp, and prove they have what it takes to grow, evolve, and make their mark. 'I'll mentor them to use all five senses together and put it all on the plate, the right way. It's going to be a wild ride, and I know we'll discover some true culinary stars along the way.' Paul Mortimer, director of reality commissioning and acquisitions at ITV, said: 'The Heat is the perfect fusion of a high-stakes cooking show with real-life drama, and with the fantastic Olivia at the forefront alongside the renowned Jean-Christophe calling the shots in the kitchen, it's shaping up to be a new reality obsession for our younger viewers on ITV2 and ITVX.' The Heat is produced by Twofour, part of ITV Studios for ITV.

Coronation Street's Lisa moves on in early ITVX release but a dark secret looms

Lisa Swain is ready to move on (Picture: ITV) This article contains spoilers for tonight's Coronation Street, which has not yet aired on TV but is available to watch now on ITVX. Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers) made the enormous decision to look to the future in tonight's Coronation Street after a breakthrough in therapy – but is the past really dead and buried? The detective sergeant has been fixated on finding out what really happened to late wife Becky Swain over the past few months, after revealing that she was being investigated for corruption before her death. All of the mystery surrounding Becky's death has taken a toll on Lisa, especially since Craig Tinker's death brought back so many memories. After making a mistake at work, Lisa was ordered to undergo a course of therapy, and after much resistance she finally began to open up in her most recent session. She told her therapist that she was concerned that Becky really was corrupt, and got upset as she questioned how much she really knew her, before realising that all of her current issues stem from Becky's death. Lisa made a breakthrough in her therapy session (Picture: ITV) Determined that she had to know the truth one way or another, Lisa went snooping through DI Costello's emails for any trace of Becky, though it wasn't long before she was caught. Costello was furious at her breach of conduct, but was willing to let it slide provided she stop looking into Becky's corruption, assuring her that there was nothing in it. However, Lisa was horrified to see that Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) had also requested access to Becky's files and wasted no time in confronting him to warn him off. At home, Lisa confided in Carla Connor (Alison King) that she didn't want to be around liars, only to discover that Carla herself had been hiding something. Lisa was desperate for answers (Picture: ITV) When Lisa stumbled across Carla's online search for a woman called Tia Wardley, Carla was forced to explain that she had visited Logan Radcliffe in prison, against Lisa's wishes. Carla offered Logan money in exchange for information, and as a token of good faith he gave her a name. However, Carla explained to a betrayed Lisa that the search had led nowhere, which led Lisa to wonder if there wasn't anything to find because Becky had been innocent all along. Deciding to put the speculation behind her, Lisa took off Becky's wedding ring and told Carla that she was ready to move forward and fully devote herself to their relationship. Carla Connor went against Lisa's wishes (Picture: ITV) Unfortunately, there may still be secrets bubbling below the surface, as Logan faced a menacing visitor in his prison cell. The fellow inmate told him that their 'mutual friend' wasn't happy about what he'd spilled to Carla, before shutting them both in the cell. Could Becky have really been involved in something dodgy, and is Logan set to pay the price for pointing Carla in the right direction? And is Lisa truly set to move on, or will she be dragged back into the mystery of Becky's death?
