NCM Issues Over 59,000 Weather Bulletins to Support Air Navigation, Safety During Hajj

Leaders13-06-2025

The National Center for Meteorology (NCM) announced that it issued and transmitted more than 59,000 meteorological reports and data entries during the 1446 Hajj season. These efforts were aimed at supporting air navigation and ensuring flight safety by providing accurate, timely information to relevant authorities.
As part of its broader operations during the pilgrimage, NCM also issued over 39,000 weather bulletins to assist agencies responsible for crowd management and pilgrim services. These measures were designed to help maintain a safe and stable environment throughout the holy sites.
In addition to its operational activities, the center conducted three specialized field research studies involving more than 25 researchers and experts. The studies focused on monitoring microclimate variations, advancing forecasting technologies, and evaluating the environmental and public health impacts of weather conditions in the holy areas. Artificial intelligence was also utilized to enhance the accuracy of numerical weather models.
These initiatives were carried out under a comprehensive operational plan developed in coordination with various authorities. The plan also included public awareness campaigns and field outreach programs at the Grand Mosque, the holy sites, and Haramain High-Speed Railway stations, supported by NCM's partners across several service sectors.
NCM reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring public safety through high standards of quality and integration, in line with the Kingdom's leadership vision and the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030.

Saudi Arabia says GCC citizens, residents can now perform Umrah any time

Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has announced that citizens and residents of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries can now perform Umrah at any time of the year. Entry for GCC citizens is permitted through all land and air ports as long as pilgrims apply for permits through the official Nusuk application. As for GCC residents, they are eligible to perform Umrah using multiple types of visas, including Umrah visas available via Nusuk, transit visas issued in partnership with Saudia Airlines and Flynas, and tourist visas that can be obtained through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' official portal. As part of the facilitation provided to the Guests of Allah, GCC residents may perform Umrah using a variety of available visa types. #Ease_And_Tranquility — Ministry of Hajj and Umrah (@MoHU_En) June 27, 2025 The decision is part of the Kingdom's ongoing efforts to streamline pilgrimage procedures and improve the overall experience for pilgrims. To access the holy sites, all pilgrims, whether citizens or residents, are required to obtain a prior permit through the Nusuk app for Umrah and prayer in the Rawdah Al Sharifah, the sacred chamber in the Prophet's Mosque in Medina. Umrah is a non-mandatory Islamic pilgrimage to Mecca that can be done at any time of the year, except during the Hajj period.

Islamabad says 21,700 Hajj pilgrims have left for Pakistan from Madinah so far

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan's post-Hajj flight operations are in full swing as 21,700 pilgrims have so far departed for Pakistan from Madinah, state-run media reported this week, with more expected to leave in the coming days. Pakistan began its post-Hajj flight operations on June 11 with the arrival of a Pakistan International Airlines flight, PK-732, in Islamabad carrying 307 pilgrims. The flights are expected to conclude by July 10. State broadcaster Radio Pakistan reported on Saturday that Pakistani pilgrims are arriving in Madinah following the completion of their Hajj rituals in Makkah. It said the post-Hajj phase has begun under the supervision of the newly established Main Control Office (MCO) to facilitate Pakistani pilgrims for their return to the country. 'So far, 21,700 Pakistani pilgrims have departed for Pakistan from Madinah, with the remaining expected to leave in the coming days,' the state broadcaster said. It said the MCO, set up in coordination with the Pakistan Hajj Mission Madinah, has been equipped with dedicated sections such as Lost and Found, Complaint Cell, Airport Team and other support services. It said all sections are fully operational to ensure seamless facilitation for pilgrims traveling from Makkah to Madinah before their return to Pakistan. 'The office is managing pilgrims' accommodation, food, transportation, and other logistical needs during their stay in Madinah,' Radio Pakistan said. Pakistan received a quota of 179,210 pilgrims from Saudi Arabia for Hajj 2025, which was evenly divided between the government and private Hajj operators. While the government filled its full allocation of over 88,000 pilgrims, a major portion of the private quota remained unutilized due to delays by companies in meeting payment and registration deadlines.
