"This isn't just a guide to exhibits, it's a layered narrative," said Sudhanva Ranade, museologist and director of the museum. "It took us nearly six months to complete, and it covers everything from the story of how this museum came into being to the extraordinary vision of its founder. Visitors will now be able to experience all eight galleries in the museum through a fresh, immersive lens."
The initiative was inaugurated by Sonali Deshpande, chairperson of persistent systems, who became the first visitor to take the audio tour.
The guide, which is accessible via a simple QR code scan, walks users through 35 specially curated artefacts. High-quality audio explains each object's history, material, function, and cultural context.
Cloud-powered and mobile-driven, the system is designed for use on personal smartphones. It incorporates geofencing technology, ensuring the guide functions only within museum premises.
"Visitors can begin their journey the moment they scan the QR code on the standee at the entrance," said Ranade.
"The content is multilingual, and we are working on adding more languages such as German, Russian, Japanese, and other regional Indian languages so that international and non-Maharashtrian or Hindi-speaking visitors can share the knowledge."
Developed in collaboration with Persistent Foundation and Glorytel Digital LLP, with active participation from the museum's staff, the project reflects the institution's commitment to innovation, research, and accessibility.

"This is a homegrown innovation," Ranade said. "Our team put in extensive effort to ensure authenticity and historical accuracy. The goal was to move beyond static displays and offer storytelling that truly brings the artefacts to life."
In addition to providing rich information about the artefacts, the guide features social media integration, allowing visitors to share photos, tag the museum, and offer real-time feedback.
Founded in 1962 by Dinkar Gangadhar Kelkar, the Raja Dinkar Kelkar Museum in Shukrawar Peth houses over 20,000 artefacts, with around 2,500 currently on display. From musical instruments and lamps to intricate sculptures and everyday household items, the collection offers a window into pre-industrial Indian life.
"We've requested our tech partners to support us further as we move toward developing a state-of-the-art Museum City in Bavdhan," said Ranade. "By merging this heritage with technology, the museum will continue to educate and inspire a new generation of visitors locally and globally."

Ed Sheeran lookalike fools Indian fans, they call him ‘humble'; real one is rocking Oslo jamming with Sigrid
'Humble' Ed Sheeran, a lookalike of the singer, who gets great reviews for mingling with crowds who don't know he's not real, made an appearance at the Old Trafford Test match. Test Match Special and Barmy Army also registered his presence on their official accounts. The British singing sensation is a genuine fan of Test cricket and has attended matches at Old Trafford. But on Sunday, even as Washington Sundar and Ravindra Jadeja went about resurrecting hopes of a draw on a pitch that has seen many centuries, the crowds managed to entertain themselves posing for selfies with the fake Sheeran. England Cricket, official ECB handle tweeted, 'Always pleasure to have @EdSheetan with us at cricket', as the figure with no tattoos (the biggest giveaway of unauthenticity), dressed in fuschia pink with glares, posed with mostly Indian ethnicity fans. Always a pleasure to have @EdSheeran with us at the cricket 😅 — England Cricket (@englandcricket) July 27, 2025 The Castle on the Hill, I don't care and Shape of You songmaker is a cricket fan but was performing right that moment with Norwegian star Sigrid in Oslo and his doppelganger did not have tattoos Most in the crowd knew that the redheaded TY Jones, a bonafide doppelganger, is not Ed Sheeran. But selfies don't sing, so even with his hair not messy and the individual not being the Shape of Him, fans happily amused themselves posing with the gallivanting lookalike who was Thinking Out Loud. A celebrity lookalike agency rents out artists, and Jones is one such. He even sported a accreditation. In April, the lookalike turned up at a nightclub but didn't know words to all Sheeran songs, and spent the evening avoiding the real Justin Bieber so as not to be caught. More recently an Arijit Singh lookalike created a parody video of his collaboration with Sheeran, as reported by Express. Sheeran earlier in the year had a Bhangra Collab on the Kapil Sharma show, and the Indian drum beats have reverberated, be it with Wonderwall or a Sheeran single. There was also a Fernando Alonso flukealike immersed in watching the match, who was not aware of his likeness with the F1 driver.

Meet actress who allegedly dated star cricketer, later married into a royal family, sparked controversy due to..., she is...
While most heroines were told their careers ended with motherhood, Moon Moon Sen did the exact opposite. She married into royalty, had two daughters, and then made her big-screen debut at 30. With her first film Andar Baahar in 1984, she raised eyebrows. But it wasn't just her looks that made headlines; it was her confidence and bold choices, both onscreen and off. She later shared screen space with Madhuri Dixit in 100 Days and acted in a string of notable films like Kuch Toh Hai, Zakhmi Dil, Mohabbat Ki Kasam, and Sheesha opposite Mithun Chakraborty. Across Hindi, Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada films, she appeared in over 60 films and 40+ TV shows. Where did she come from? Born into privilege, Moon Moon was the daughter of Bengali legend Suchitra Sen and granddaughter of a wealthy businessman, Adinath Sen. She was an English literature teacher in Kolkata and studied at Oxford before Bollywood found her. She married Bharat Dev Varma, from a royal lineage, in 1978. The couple has two daughters, Riya and Raima, both of whom tried their hand at acting. What about the Imran Khan connection? The buzz around Moon Moon wasn't limited to her films. Over the years, she was linked to several high-profile names, from Saif Ali Khan and Romu Sippy to Victor Banerjee. But the most talked-about was her alleged affair with former Pakistani cricketer and PM, Imran Khan. The media claimed the two dated and even shot for a magazine together, while Moon Moon was married. In a 2019 interview with PTI, she addressed it, 'I like spending time with Imran. If my husband doesn't have a problem, why should others?' She added that they were just friends. But the buzz never quite died down. Did she stop at films? Nope. Moon Moon later joined politics, becoming a member of Mamata Banerjee's Trinamool Congress and winning a Lok Sabha seat. Politics, like cinema, welcomed her late, but she made it count. Moon Moon Sen's story is one of charm, controversy, and breaking conventions. From teaching English to starring in 6 languages and facing political elections, her script was anything but ordinary.
