Jurassic World Rebirth Roars to Life with $312.5 Million Global Box Office Smash
Universal Pictures and Amblin Entertainment have scored a massive win at the box office with Jurassic World Rebirth, which posted a towering $312.5 million global debut in its opening weekend. Surpassing all projections, the film is now officially the second-highest worldwide opener of 2025, only trailing A Minecraft Movie. With Gareth Edwards at the helm and a star-studded cast including Scarlett Johansson, Mahershala Ali, and Jonathan Bailey, Rebirth is breathing new life into the beloved dinosaur franchise. Originally forecast to open around $260 million worldwide, Jurassic World Rebirth crushed those estimates with an explosive launch. The film earned approximately $141.2 million domestically and $171.3 million internationally, according to a Deadline report. These numbers place it ahead of major competitors and mark one of the strongest franchise comebacks in recent memory. The domestic market responded strongly despite mid-week openings. The movie launched in North America on a Wednesday with $30.5 million, followed by $25.3 million on Thursday. Over the five-day period, it amassed around $133 million, becoming one of the summer's biggest box office draws. China played a significant role in the film's global success. Jurassic World Rebirth debuted in the country with a staggering $9.9 million on opening day, commanding over 50% of the total market share. It ultimately grossed $33.7 million during its first weekend, making it the year's biggest studio opening in China so far. The film's success in China signals strong audience engagement, especially when compared to recent Hollywood releases that struggled to connect with local viewers. In India, Jurassic World Rebirth delivered an impressive performance, grossing between ₹9 crore and ₹9.25 crore ($1.1–1.3 million) on its opening day. That made it the second-highest Hollywood opening in India in 2025, trailing only Mission: Impossible – Final Reckoning. On Day 2, the film added another ₹2.84 crore, bringing the cumulative total to ₹11.84 crore. Given the crowded release calendar, these numbers are remarkable and point to continued traction in the Indian market. South Korea contributed significantly, bringing in $2.4 million on Saturday alone and totaling $5.1 million over the weekend. Rebirth claimed the top box office position in the country for three consecutive days. Meanwhile, the United Kingdom and Ireland posted a combined $7.5 million, representing 50% of the total weekend market share and outperforming competitors like F1 The Movie. In France, the film launched with $1.8 million, placing second only to Lilo & Stitch for the year. In Mexico, Rebirth pulled in $2.2 million on Friday alone, reaching $6.5 million by Sunday. The film opened at No. 1 in nearly every Latin American market. European territories like Spain, Italy, Germany, and Poland also delivered impressive returns, helping boost the international tally. The film was particularly dominant in markets such as Thailand (76% share), Poland (42%), and the UAE (40%), solidifying its global appeal. In Taiwan, it even outperformed the entire lifetime gross of Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, demonstrating strong franchise loyalty. Directed by Gareth Edwards, known for Rogue One and Godzilla, Jurassic World Rebirth successfully blends new storytelling with the classic tone of Spielberg's original films. Edwards shot several sequences on 35mm film, adding a nostalgic texture that fans have widely praised. The cast features Scarlett Johansson, Mahershala Ali, and Jonathan Bailey, who deliver performances that resonate with audiences across age groups. Their dynamic adds emotional depth to the film's thrilling dinosaur action and gripping narrative. Unlike Dominion, which concluded the previous trilogy, Jurassic World Rebirth serves as a franchise reboot. It introduces a fresh plot centered on a dinosaur rescue mission and a race to develop a life-saving drug. Critics and fans alike have responded positively to this new direction, which moves away from the militarization and cloning themes of the earlier films. With more grounded storytelling, richer character development, and stunning visuals, the film is drawing in both longtime fans and new viewers. Positive reviews and strong word-of-mouth have helped the film maintain momentum despite a competitive summer movie landscape. With limited blockbuster competition in the coming week, Jurassic World Rebirth is expected to continue performing strongly in its second weekend. Industry analysts project a solid hold in the 40–50% drop range, which would place the film firmly on track for a potential $650–700 million global run if trends continue.
