Bad news for India, star player ruled out of Ind-Eng Test series due to...

India star all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy on Sunday was ruled out of teh remainder of the Test series between India and engalnd. According to a report, Reddy sustained a knee injury during a gym session on Sunday, and scans confirmed ligament damage. The 22-year-old injury news has come as a major blow to India's hopes of winning a Test series in England after eighteen years. With Rishabh Pant, Arshdeep Singh, and Akash Deep on the injury list, the team is already struggling with fitness issues. Pant's availability as a wicketkeeper is still up in the air, as both Akash Deep and Arshdeep have been ruled out of the Manchester Test beginning July 23. Shardul Thakur is likely to play in Manchester Test In the absence of Reddy, Mumbai's all-rounder Shardul Thakur is set to be a part of India's playing XI in Manchester Test. Shardul, who has taken 33 wickets in 12 Test matches so far, was picked before Nitish in last month's series opener at Headingley in Leeds, but he did not accomplish much with the bat and ball. Nitish scored 43 runs (30 and 13) and grabbed three wickets (2 and 1) at Lord's Test. Nitish scored two runs (1 and 1) in the second Test of the ongoing Anderson-Trophy Trophy, but he was still included in India's playing XI for the third Test. Nitish Kumar Reddy Tests stats soo far On November 22, 2024, Nitish made his Test debut for India in a match against Australia in Perth, and he made an immediate impression with his batting. In the red-ball match at Optus Stadium, he scored 41 runs in the first innings and stayed undefeated with 38 in the second. He also took one wicket in the second innings of his first Test match for India, clean bowling Mitchell Marsh. In the opening innings of the Boxing Day Test between Australia and India, which took place at Melbourne Cricket Ground from December 26 to 30, Reddy smashed his first Test century for India. However, India lost by 184 runs, and his 114-run knock was in vain. Reddy has played a total of seven Tests for India, scoring 343 runs in 13 innings while also claiming eight wickets. In seven overs, his best bowling stats in Test matches are 2 for 32.

WI vs AUS 1st T20: Dwarshuis, Owen star in Aussies' 3-wicket win in Jamaica

In the penultimate T20 match in Andre Russell's international career, Australia defeated West Indies by 3 wickets at Sabina Park, Kingston in Jamaica on Monday morning (IST). With the win, Australia took 1-0 lead in the five-match T20 series. Earlier, Australia staged a remarkable comeback in the final overs to restrict West Indies to 189 in their innings, after the hosts looked set for a 200-plus total. A flurry of early boundaries and an aggressive knock by Roston Chase had put West Indies in a commanding position before the Aussies pulled things back in dramatic fashion. Speaking after the innings, Roston Chase said, "I wanted to make the most of the powerplay and rotate after that. I wanted to play my shots and express myself — that is my role as well." Chase looked in top form, smashing a quickfire 50 off just 21 balls and punishing the Australian bowlers with clean hitting. Alongside him, Shai Hope anchored the innings with a composed half-century, as the duo built a strong platform in the middle overs. Promising Start Fizzles Out West Indies got off to a solid start thanks to Brandon King, who struck a flurry of boundaries early on. However, his momentum was halted when he was stumped attempting to attack Connolly. Chase and Hope then took charge, punishing the visitors all around the park. But after Chase was dismissed by Dwarshius, the West Indies innings began to unravel. Dwarshius, who had already removed Chase, returned to deliver a game-changing final over, picking up three wickets and dismantling the lower order. Nathan Ellis followed up with a tight final over to ensure Australia closed the innings on a high. Andre Russell's performance in his penultimate T20 International match Andre Russell failed to lite up the Sabina Park with bat or ball. During the first innings, Russell managed to score only 8 runs off 9 balls, hitting a six. 37-year-old all-rounder failed to perform with the bat as well. He leaked 37 runs in the two overs he bowled during West Indies' chase. Final Five Overs Turn the Game The last five overs saw West Indies lose six wickets while scoring just 37 runs — a dramatic shift considering their earlier dominance. At one point, a score beyond 200 looked likely, but disciplined bowling and timely wickets from the Australians saw the home side fall short of expectations.

'Don't want to talk to you, you hit my father…': Harbhajan Singh recalls a heartfelt conversation with…

S Sreesanth (L), Harbhajan Singh (R) Former India's star spinner Harbhajan Singh opens up about about the one moment in his career that he wish he could remove from his career and cites the spat with former teammate S Sreesanth. Harbhajan Singh admitted it was completely his mistake in the inaugural edition of the Indian Premier League. He also discussed about the conversation with Sreesanth's daughter that left him devastated. During the inaugural season of the IPL in 2008, Harbhajan who played for Mumbai Indians slapped Sreesanth, who played for Kings XI Punjab at the end of a league fixture. Harbhajan Singh opens up about the infamous IPL 2008 incident involving Sreesanth. Speaking on 'Kutti Stories,' a YouTube show hosted by R Ashwin, Harbhajan was asked if there was anything in his life that he wished he could take back. In response, the off-spinner, who was part of the 2011 World Cup-winning squad with Sreesanth, said 'One thing I'd want to change in my life is that incident with Sreesanth. I want to remove that incident from my career. That is the incident I would change from my list. What transpired was wrong and I shouldn't have done what I d id. I apologised 200 times.' said Harbhajan 'What I felt so bad was even years after that incident, I have been apologising every opportunity or stage I get. It was a mistake. We all make mistakes and we hope and try to never repeat such mistakes. He was my teammate and we were playing together. Yes, in that game we were opponents. But it shouldn't have gone to that level where we behave in such a manner. So yeah, that was my fault and the only fault of his was that he provoked me, but that's okay actually. However, what I did was not okay. I said, 'Sorry',' an emotional Harbhajan said. Harbhajan Singh's heartbreaking conversation with Sreesanth's daughter The 45-year old said the incident made him feel more devastated when he had a conversation with Sreesanth's daughter. 'What hurt me even after many years was when I met his daughter and I was talking to her with a lot of love and she said, 'I don't want to talk to you. You hit my father.' My heart was shattered and I was on the verge of tears. I was asking myself what is the impression I've left on her? She must be thinking of me in a poor light, right? She sees me as the guy who hit her father. I felt so bad.' said Harbhajan 'I still apologise to his daughter that I can't do anything. I keep telling her, 'but if there's anything I can do to make you feel better and make you think I'm not that kind of person, please tell me'. I wish when she grows up, she doesn't see me in the same light. And think her uncle will always be with her and extend any kind of support he can. That's why I want to remove that chapter,' Harbhajan added.
