Happy that my hard work paid off, says AP topper in JEE (Advanced) Vadlamudi Lokesh
'I was fast asleep when my brother Karthikeya woke me up and broke the news of my success in the JEE exam. The house erupted in celebrations. I am still excited,' said an excited Vadlamudi Lokesh, who secured an all-India 10th rank in the JEE (Advanced) 2025 and is also the State topper.
IIT-Kanpur announced the results in the early hours of Monday for the entrance exam conducted on May 18. Lokesh had appeared for the exam from the IIT Hyderabad zone and secured 317 marks, placing him in the top 10 of the Common Rank List (CRL).
His father, Venkaiah Naidu, who works with a Dutch-based NGO, and mother, Sailaja, a homemaker, are elated over their son's achievement. 'Ï worked really hard and was confident that the amount of hard work I invested in my preparation for the exam, would pay off,' he says, adding that he was expecting a rank below 60. 'To know that I had done way better and had scored 10th rank came as a pleasant surprise,' he told The Hindu on Wednesday.
Lokesh is keen on joining IIT-Bombay and pursue a course in Computer Science Engineering (CSE). 'My aim is to start my own company in the future and pay back to society,' says the young achiever. After completing his schooling in different places, including his primary education in Ethiopia, he joined the Narayana campus at Kanuru in Vijayawada for intermediate education.
Students of IIT Hyderabad zone performed exceptionally well this year, securing five positions in the top 20. Arnav Singh from Hyderabad bagged the 9th rank with 319 marks, while Lokesh secured 10th position. Dharmana Gnana Rutvik Sai, also from Andhra Pradesh, secured 18th rank and topped in the OBC-NCL category at the national level. Vangala Ajay Reddy from Nellore stood 19th and secured first rank in the GEN-EWS category, followed by Avanaganti Anirudh Reddy, who secured 20th position.

I always dreamt of clearing IIT and securing a seat in either IIT Mumbai or Roorkee,' the report quoted him as saying. Harsh said his father always encouraged him to keep studying. 'He said, 'couldn't study, but you should pursue your dreams'.' 'My message for other aspirants is that don't let failure define you. I never gave up, even though I failed in Class 12. I am the first IITian in my family, and my school,' he added. Harsh recalls classmates' taunts after Class 11 failure Throughout his journey, Harsh said his classmates teased him and doubted his potential after he failed Class 11, saying a 'pani puri' vendor's son could not crack IIT. But he ignored the naysayers and focused on his studies, dedicating 10-12 hours a day to coaching and self-study. 'But, I didn't pay much heed. I worked hard,' he said, thanking his family and friends 'for always supporting' him. His father, Santosh Gupta, expressed pride, saying, 'I may be a pani puri vendor, but I'll go to any extent to support my children's dreams.' 'I am very happy. He has always been good at studies, but we had financial constraints,' Gupta added. Despite limited earnings, he arranged funds by withdrawing from his savings. 'I also want my two other sons, Shubham and Shivam, to pursue higher education,' he said.

LUCKNOW: In a dazzling new addition to the opulent offerings at the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple in Ayodhya, two intricately designed 24-carat gold jhoolas (swings), crafted by Chennai-based artisans, will soon be used to ceremonially seat Ram Lalla during the auspicious month of Shravana beginning July 11. Each swing weighs approximately 5.5 kg and together they are valued at an estimated Rs 12 crore. The twin jhoolas, created with exquisite precision and devotion, are among the most ritually significant artefacts added to the temple's already lavish collection. The latest addition to the glittering trove of donations enhances the temple's grandeur even further. Notably, the sanctum sanctorum is adorned with 42 gold-coated doors, a majestic throne featuring Lord Ram, Goddess Sita, his four brothers and Lord Hanuman; and several other sacred items including crowns, bows, arrows, chhatras and the kalash atop the temple's spire, all of which have captured public and media attention since the consecration. According to sources from the temple trust, the jhoolas have been designed in consonance with traditional Vaishnavite aesthetics, featuring lotus-petal-shaped borders, Shankh and Chakra motifs, and delicate floral filigree.
