MoJ presents working paper at Saratov Legal Forum in Russia

The Ministry of Justice (MoJ), represented by the Center for Legal and Judicial Studies, participated in the Saratov Legal Forum organised by the Saratov State Academy of Law in Russia, on June 19 and 20, via videoconferencing.
Director of the Center for Legal and Judicial Studies at the Ministry of Justice Dr Abdullah Hamad Al Khalidi presented a working paper on the future prospects for the Center for Legal and Judicial Studies, capacity building and advancing the legal profession.
He reviewed the centre's experience in supporting the legal system in Qatar through training and qualification programmes aimed at developing legal cadres in various sectors.
Dr Al Khalidi highlighted the centre's efforts to build legal capacity through a range of programmes that include preparing judicial assistants, qualifying lawyers, and offering specialised courses in legal drafting, memorandum writing, and legal contracts, in addition to offering modern programmes in the fields of artificial intelligence and law, smart contracts, and digital transformation in the legal field.
Dr Al Khalidi also discussed the centre's role in promoting legal research, noting the use of modern legal and statistical data to analyse legal reality and develop judicial policies.
He also introduced the Center's Legal and Judicial Journal and its role in publishing peer-reviewed research and enhancing legal knowledge.
In the area of legal awareness, Dr Al Khalidi showcased the centre's efforts to implement national initiatives aimed at raising legal awareness among various segments of society through community partnerships and the use of digital media to expand impact and disseminate legal culture.
In his presentation, he also addressed the centre's strategic directions within the Ministry of Justice's 2025-2030 plan, including developing quality policies in training, establishing specialised legal writing units aligned with the Qatari legal system, integrating artificial intelligence technologies into the delivery and evaluation of training programmes, and building an integrated digital environment for managing legal knowledge in the country.
The forum participants praised Qatar's experience in developing the legal profession, emphasising the importance of exchanging expertise and enhancing international cooperation in the field of legal capacity building.
The Center for Legal and Judicial Studies' commitment to best practices and its commitment to adopting the latest legal and training systems was emphasised to ensure excellence and innovation in this vital sector.

NRNA Qatar elects Krishna as president for 2025–2027
Ashraf Siddiqui Doha The National Coordination Council (NCC) of the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA), the main representative body of the Nepali community in Qatar, has successfully concluded its general convention, electing Krishna Panthi as president for the 2025–2027 term. The convention was held recently in the presence of Dr Prakash Sharan Mahat, spokesperson of the Nepali Congress and former Foreign Minister of Nepal, who attended as Chief Guest. Krishna Panthi, a committed community leader with years of service in NRNA Qatar—including his previous role as first vice-president—was elected to the top post, reflecting the community's confidence in his leadership and vision. He has played a vital role in advocating for workers' rights, organising welfare programmes, and promoting Nepali culture in Qatar. The newly elected executive body comprises Rabin Magar as first vice-president; Santosh Poudel and Jahagir Alam as second and third vice-presidents; Toumaya Gurung as women's vice-president; Meher Singh Tamang as youth vice-president; and Vivek Pulami Magar as general secretary. The secretaries are Buddha Pandey, Sujan Gurung, and Arjun Sangraula. Kavindra Kandel serves as treasurer, with Kanchha Shrestha (Ajay) as co-treasurer. Kalpana Pun Magar it the new women's coordinator and Keshav Raj Malla (Keshu) as youth coordinator. The inclusive Working Committee reflects a broad representation of the community, with members such as Rita Pokharel, Indira Shah, Ram Chandra Giri, Amrit Bishwakarma, Prakash Darnal, Darshan Sunar, Ganesh Adhikari, Rajan Chapagain, Tara Tamata (Kamal), Dilli Ram Bhattarai, and Mohammad Rafiq Ryan. Additional members include Bishwanath Bhattarai, Gorakh Bahadur Chand Thakuri, Md. Anwarul Haq, Sheikh Momtaz, Prakash Thapa, Sushil Kumar Subba, Krishna Bhandari, and Pushkar Bahadur Saud, all of whom have significantly contributed to community welfare and social service in Qatar. The Accounts Committee is chaired by Ram Prasad Gautam, with Kamal Khatri and Ashok Ale Magar as members. The Disciplinary Committee is led by Tak Kumar Khadka (Kumar), with Kalyan Thapa and Arjun Khadka serving alongside him. The newly elected team has pledged to prioritise welfare initiatives, legal aid, education, cultural promotion, and stronger diplomatic engagement with the Nepali Embassy. Special focus will be placed on low-income workers, youth empowerment, and strengthening ties between Nepal and Qatar. Adding a cultural touch to the convention, renowned Nepali folk singer Baburam Panthi, specially invited from Nepal, delivered a memorable performance that captivated the audience. Under Krishna Panthi's leadership, the new committee aims to serve as a bridge between the Nepali and Qatari communities through cultural exchange, social initiatives, and collaborative events. They have expressed their strong commitment to organising impactful programmes that celebrate Nepali identity while embracing the multicultural values of Qatari society.
