A few deals have come together in the past week, notably Josh Naylor (Mariners) and Ryan McMahon (Yankees) finding new homes. Some of the other top players who have surfaced in trade rumors are Arizona Diamondbacks slugger Eugenio Suárez and Miami Marlins pitcher Sandy Alcantara. Suárez is in the midst of a spectacular season, on pace for 55 home runs and 133 RBIs, while former Cy Young winner Alcantara has struggled after missing all of 2024 following Tommy John surgery.

DIamondbacks trade rumors continue
'Do I think there's a chance we make more trades? Yes, I do,' Diamondbacks GM Mike Hazen said. 'I think there's going to be enough interest that we probably will have to look at — think long and hard about what we're doing. I just don't know the extent to which that's going to happen and how many that's going to be.'
He said interest in his veterans on expiring deals — namely right-handers Merrill Kelly and Zac Gallen and third baseman Eugenio Suarez — has been strong, though he admitted his group has not yet focused its attention on those players. – Nick Piecoro, Arizona Republic
Yankees add depth with Amed Rosario trade
The New York Yankees acquired Amed Rosario in a trade with the Washington Nationals, providing depth as a player who has the versatility to play all around the infield. Rosario has started 20 games at third base and 13 games at second base for the Nationals this season.
He's also proven to be trouble for left-handed pitchers. He's batting .299 with an .816 OPS against lefties in 2025.

Shortly after sending James Outman to the Minnesota Twins for reliever Brock Stewart, they replaced Outman on the bench. Call is in his fourth MLB season and is under team control through 2029. ESPN's Jeff Passan broke the news. 'The Los Angeles Dodgers are acquiring outfielder Alex Call from the Washington Nationals, a source tells ESPN,' Passan reported. The Dodgers have gotten poor production from Michael Conforto in left field this season. Call is significantly better against lefties, .802 OPS, than Conforto has been this season, with a .688 OPS. They needed to improve their bullpen, which cost them Outman. Then, they needed to replace Outman, so they dipped into their prospect pipeline to get Call. The Dodgers gave up minor-league pitchers Sean Paul Liñan and Eriq Swan to land Call. Swan was ranked 16th in LA's system, while Liñan was ranked 20th. With a disappointing season slipping away and new management in place, Washington lands two pitchers to improve their pipeline. The rest of the Nationals' season will be about the continued development of James Wood, CJ Abrams, and MacKenzie Gore. Gore was a part of trade rumors all the way up to the deadline, but Washington was asking a high price. The Cubs and Padres were among the teams interested and could make that move in the winter. The Dodgers now turn their eyes to another NL West title and another World Series title. Call will get some important at-bats down the stretch, especially if there is an injury. But don't expect to see him in many postseason games as the Dodgers have one of the deepest rosters in the league. MIAMI (AP) — Jason Alexander pitched six scoreless innings, Jeremy Peña doubled twice and the Houston Astros used a five-run fourth to beat the Miami Marlins 8-2 on Monday night. Alexander picked up his second win of the season after holding Miami to three hits. He struck out six and walked one. The Astros built a 5-0 lead during a disastrous fourth by Marlins starter Sandy Alcantara (6-10), who was perfect his first time through the Houston order before giving up six hits in the inning. Peña led off the fourth with a double. Jesús Sánchez then drove in Peña with a double in his first game against his former team, which dealt him to Houston at the trade deadline. Yainer Diaz added a two-run double, Carlos Correa had an RBI single and Christian Walker drove in another run on a fielder's choice. Alcantara allowed nine hits and six runs. He struck out five over seven innings and threw 100 pitches. TIGERS 6, TWINS 3 DETROIT (AP) — Kerry Carpenter homered in a three-run sixth inning and Detroit rallied for a win over Minnesota. Wenceel Pérez and Dillon Dingler also homered for the Tigers, while Ryan Jeffers, Trevor Larnach and Matt Wallner had homers for Minnesota. Detroit has won six of its last eight games since losing 12 of 13. The Twins have lost five of six. Casey Mize (10-4) picked up the win, allowing three runs in six innings while Kyle Finnegan pitched the ninth for his second Tigers save. Noah Davis (0-2) took the loss in relief. PHILLIES 13, ORIOLES 3 PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Kyle Schwarber homered twice, including a grand slam Philadelphia's eight-run sixth inning, and the Phillies pounded Baltimore. Schwarber finished with six RBIs, running his major league-leading total to 94 on the season. Schwarber's first homer of the game was a two-run shot deep into the second deck that tied it at 3 in the third. He heard 'MVP! MVP!' chants when he came to the plate in the sixth. Schwarber, the All-Star Game MVP, launched his NL-best 40th of the season into the right-center seats off Yaramil Hiraldo for a grand slam that sent the crowd of 41,099 into a frenzy. Gabriel Arias' 440-foot, three-run homer to left-center ended a five-run sixth inning against Sean Manaea, who surrendered RBI singles to David Fry and Carlos Santana earlier in the inning. Alonso, starting at designated hitter for the 59th time in his career, hit a 388-foot blast to left-center in the bottom half against Slade Cecconi. Dodgers activate Max Muncy from injured list, but put Tommy Edman on shelf
LOS ANGELES — The Los Angeles Dodgers activated Max Muncy from the injured list and put fellow infielder Tommy Edman on the list Monday. Muncy has been out since July 2, missing nearly five weeks with a bone bruise in his knee after a collision on a tag play during a game against the Chicago White Sox. The veteran slugger had been on a monthlong roll at the time of his injury, boosting his OPS to .832 with 13 homers and 55 RBIs. Muncy returned more quickly than the initial six-week projection for his recovery. He was batting fifth and playing third base at Dodger Stadium on Monday night when Los Angeles opened a homestand against the St. Louis Cardinals. 'He's put in a lot of work to get back with this timeline,' Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said. 'Getting him back lengthens and strengthens our lineup.' But just when Muncy is healthy enough to return, the NL West-leading Dodgers are losing Edman after he aggravated his injured right ankle. Edman left a game in Boston last week after apparently spraining his ankle while running the bases, and he came out of the Dodgers' game against Tampa Bay on Sunday with pain from running the bases again. 'Don't know how long it's going to be, but I do think that he'll be back at some point,' Roberts said. 'The main thing is when he gets back, how we can make sure that this doesn't happen again. It's kind of a ligament strain, tendons, whatever it is.' Edman also missed time in May with a sprained ankle. Last year's NLCS MVP is batting .228 with 12 homers and 44 RBIs this season. Edman joins the lengthy list of Dodgers hoping to return soon from injuries to bolster the defending World Series champions' repeat bid. Los Angeles didn't make a bold move at the trade deadline last week, deciding to roll with its current roster while aiming for full health in October. Utilityman Kiké Hernández went out last month with a sprained left elbow, and he isn't close to returning despite undergoing multiple procedures including platelet-rich plasma therapy and cortisone shots. 'We're not there yet, as far as worrying the season is lost' for Hernández, Roberts said. Other injury news is more encouraging: Second baseman Hyeseong Kim is swinging a bat and taking grounders in anticipation of returning from left shoulder bursitis as early as this weekend, while reliever Tanner Scott will throw another batting practice session soon in his recovery from left elbow inflammation. Roki Sasaki is still on the injured list on his bobblehead night Monday. The rookie right-hander has been out since May 8 with a right shoulder injury, but he will throw three live innings Friday after hitting mid-90s velocity in his most recent mound session. If his arm continues to feel good, he will get a minor league rehab assignment next week, Roberts said.
