EA FC 25 patch notes – long-awaited tackling nerf made in latest gameplay update

Daily Mirror4 days ago
EA FC 25 Title Update 17 will be available soon for players on PC, PlayStation and Xbox and Nintendo Switch
EA Sports has released a new set of EA FC 25 patch notes, with tackling being nerfed in EA FC 25 Title Update 17.
At the beginning of June, EA Sports released EA FC 25 Title Update 15, titled the 'Season Finale Update'. The EA FC 25 update saw lots of gameplay changes made, including passing, heading and PlayStyles, but the title was slightly misleading, with this not being the 'Finale' update players expected.

Since Title Update 15, EA has released two more Title Updates, with the latest set of EA FC 25 patch notes, Title Update 17, making a much-needed change to tackling, though with EA FC 26 set to be released in a few months time, it feels like this update is a few months overdue.

Along with the gameplay changes, some updates have been made to Ultimate Team and Career Mode, while a couple of quick fixes have been made to general, audio, and visual. These are the EA FC 25 patch notes for EA FC 25 Title Update 17.
EA FC 25 Title Update 17 patch notes
EA announced EA FC 25 Title Update 17 in the latest set of patch notes, and the biggest change by far is to the gameplay, with EA nerfing tackling. Too often, players were able to spam tackles, both standing and sliding, an unrealistic amount. But now, EA has updated the game so players will take longer to recover from failed tackles, finally nerfing spam tackling.
The list of available Icons that you can use in Player Career Mode has also been updated, but EA hasn't mentioned the players being added or taken away, so we have to wait until the update is live to see what new players are in the game. EA FC 25 Title Update 17 will go live soon on Xbox, PlayStation, PC and Nintendo Switch. Here are the EA FC 25 patch notes for Title Update 17 in full:
Gameplay
Made the following change:
Failed tackles can now take longer to transition out of, with hard tackles being the most impacted.
The intent of this change is to reduce situations where failed tackles instantaneously lead to another tackle attempt.
Ultimate Team
Addressed the following issue:

In some specific cases, claiming Premium Pass rewards did not function as intended.
Career Mode
Made the following change:
Updated list of available ICONs in Player Career.
This change will be activated through a Server Release shortly after the Title Update.
General, Audio, and Visual
Made the following changes:
Updated some button callouts, hair, kits, equipment, stadium, trophies, badges, ad boards as well as placeholder text and images.
We're rapidly approaching the time of the year where EA starts to shift its attention to the future, so unless there are any major bugs or issues with EA FC 25 gameplay in the next few weeks, this could be one of the last big gameplay changes made in EA FC 25.

But for now, we have Shapeshifters Team 4, with more out-of-position Icons, Heroes and regular players entering packs. ‌ As well as the Shapeshifters Team 4 squad, EA has released a Euro 2025 Path to Glory Team 2 squad in packs as well, with the squad featuring more live player items that will upgrade based on how the players' respective nations perform at Euro 2025. EA Sports makes Diogo Jota tribute following Liverpool forward's death

Diogo Jota was known for his love for esports and football games, such as EA FC 25, off the pitch EA Sports has paid tribute to Diogo Jota following the death of the Liverpool forward and his brother, Andre Silva. The 28-year-old tragically died in a car crash alongside his brother in the Spanish province of Zamora in the early hours of Thursday morning, and since then, tributes have been pouring in for the Liverpool footballer from all over the world. Portugal teammate Cristiano Ronaldo and former Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp have posted emotional tributes on social media, and so have EA Sports, the developers of the popular EA Sports FC and FIFA game series. As well as being a brilliant player on the pitch, Jota was a gem off the pitch, and his passion for gaming, football games like EA Sports FC in particular, was clear for all to see. The 28-year-old had partnered up with EA multiple times over the last few years to help promote Ultimate Team promos while also boosting the EA Sports FC Pro scene by shooting promo videos for the pro tournaments. EA Sports pays tribute to Diogo Jota In a statement on its @EASPORTSFC Twitter, EA tweeted: "We are heartbroken by the news of Diogo Jota's passing. "Diogo was not only an exceptional footballer, but also a true friend and talented member of the FC family whose abilities were renowned amongst the community. Our thoughts are with his family, his teammates, and all who knew him. Rest in peace, Diogo." Jota has a history in the FUT community of being one of the best players of the game, finishing one FUT Champions Weekend League in FIFA 21 as the number one ranked player in the world. He was also crowned the winner of the FIFA 22 Challenge Champions, where the forward and Manchester City Esports player, Tekkz, teamed up to win the competition. In 2021, the forward first showcased his famous 'gamer' celebration when he scored a brace in a 3-0 win over Southampton, but he most famously performed the celebration when he scored the last-minute winner in a 4-3 victory over Tottenham in 2023. In the build-up to the win over Southampton, Jota was competing in qualifiers for the FIFA 22 Global Series, but the forward was forced to quit one of his games early to ensure he made it in time for Liverpool's game. "Good Luck!" messaged Jota to his opponent at 1:23 BST, just one hour and 37 minutes before the Reds were due to kick off against the Saints. Jota's opponent posted the message on Twitter before kick-off, and as word got out, Jota opted to perform his 'gamer' celebration, which is currently his default celebration in EA FC 25. Jota also owned his own Esports team, Luna Esports, which is named after one of his dogs. In fact, the 28-year-old was so obsessed with gaming that his job title in his Instagram bio is gamer instead of footballer. Jota's death is a huge loss to the footballing world and gaming and Esports. The 28-year-old was one of the few footballers who treated gaming and Esports as more than just a hobby. Rest in peace, Diogo.
