A French fugitive wanted for attempted murder is believed to be hiding in Morocco
Adel B., 25, has once again narrowly escaped death. On the evening of June 22, he was reportedly targeted in a shooting in Garges-lès-Gonesse, a suburb of Paris, that left three people injured. This marks the fourth assassination attempt on his life in just three years.
According to initial findings, Adel and several members of his family have been repeatedly targeted by a network of contract killers, allegedly acting on orders from «Mareko Scarla», a 23-year-old French inmate known to authorities for his role in organized crime and drug trafficking.
However, investigators are now focusing on another suspect: Akim A., also known as «Kimo». Believed to be the mastermind behind the latest attack, the 25-year-old is reportedly on the run in Morocco, according to French judicial sources. An international arrest warrant has been issued for him, Le Parisien reports.
The attacks appear to be part of a long-running feud between rival families that has escalated into a deadly cycle of revenge. Adel's brother and stepfather have already been killed in similar assaults. Several suspects have been indicted, particularly for murder as part of an organized gang.
French authorities are also investigating potential accomplices, including those behind bars. Despite being held in solitary confinement, Mareko is believed to have continued directing criminal operations from his cell. A mobile phone was recently discovered in his possession.

Mosque in Isère vandalized amid rising anti-Muslim acts in France
The El Hidaya Mosque in Roussillon, Isère (France), was vandalized overnight from June 27 to 28. Around 5 a.m., four masked individuals broke the entrance windows, overturned furniture, and posted hateful flyers on the mosque's walls. Several similar documents were also found scattered on the ground. The town's mayor, Robert Duranton, told ICI Isère that the evidence «suggests the perpetrators belong to the far-right movement». The attackers fled in a vehicle after the mosque's caretaker intervened. The mosque's religious association has filed a complaint, and an investigation is currently underway to identify those responsible. This attack is part of a broader and increasingly alarming trend. Just a few weeks ago, a man was arrested for desecrating the Errahma Mosque in Villeurbanne, where a burned copy of the Quran was left at the building's entrance. Around the same time, a halal butcher shop owned by a Franco-Moroccan in Haute-Garonne was targeted twice, with racist messages scrawled on its windows. In March, hateful graffiti defaced another halal butcher shop and a mosque in Haute-Savoie. According to figures released by French authorities, 79 anti-Muslim acts were recorded between January and March 2025— a 72% increase compared to the same period last year. This spike reflects a toxic climate increasingly fueled by hostile rhetoric toward Muslims, including from within French political circles.

Attackers Target Another Mosque in France as Anti-Muslim Violence Rises
Berlin – On Saturday, the El Hidaya Mosque in Roussillon, southeastern France, was the target of a violent act of vandalism. Around 5 a.m., masked individuals smashed the entrance windows, overturned furniture, and plastered the mosque's walls with hate-filled leaflets. Several similar flyers were found scattered on the ground. The religious association overseeing the mosque has filed a formal complaint. Authorities have launched an investigation to identify those responsible. This attack follows a troubling pattern of recent anti-Muslim incidents across the country. A few weeks earlier, a man was arrested after desecrating the Errahma Mosque in Villeurbanne, where a burned Quran was found at the building's entrance. According to figures released by French authorities, 79 anti-Muslim acts were recorded between January and March 2025, a 72% increase compared to the same period in 2024. This rise reflects a climate of growing hostility, driven in part by increasingly aggressive rhetoric toward Muslims, including within French political circles. The Grand Mosque of Paris issued a strong condemnation of the attack, calling it an 'Islamophobic act.' In a statement, the institution said that 'the Grand Mosque of Paris firmly condemns the Islamophobic act committed this Saturday, June 28, 2025, against the El Hidaya Mosque in Roussillon, which is affiliated with the federation of the Grand Mosque of Paris.' It expressed its full support for Nouredine Louchene, president of the ACMR (Association Cultuelle des Musulmans de Roussillon), as well as for the local Muslim faithful and all the residents of Roussillon. The Grand Mosque of Paris also urged authorities to move swiftly. As the investigation continues, the Roussillon attack adds to mounting concerns over the safety of Muslim communities in France, and raises pressing questions about the response of society and the state in the face of a rising tide of hate. Police in Agadir Arrest Two Wanted British Nationals
Rabat – Security services in Agadir arrested on Saturday two British nationals, subject to arrest warrants issued by the UK. The arrest took place based on precise intelligence from the General Directorate for Territorial Surveillance (DGST), a security source said. The first suspect is allegedly involved in a case of voluntary manslaughter, while the second was subject to an international wanted notice through a red notice issued by the UK. He was wanted for charges related to failure to appear in court and violations of parole conditions. The suspects are in custody as part of extradition proceedings. Police informed security authorities of the arrests to ensure the necessary extradition procedures. Morocco is a key stakeholder in the Interpol as the country has helped many countries to arrest suspects subject to arrest warrants. Earlier this month, Morocco's police arrested a French national of Malian origin on an international warrant issued by French judicial authorities. In May, Interpol President Ahmed Nasser Al Raisi commended Morocco's security efforts, describing the country's security system as advanced, efficient, professional, and committed to respecting human rights. Al Raisi also commended King Mohammed VI's efforts and determination to consistently give special care and attention to bolstering security efforts locally and on regional and international levels For the Interpol chief, Morocco has played a 'key role in supporting numerous global security projects and initiatives,' adding that the country contributed to strengthening international security cooperation mechanisms. The North African country has been playing a significant role in the fight against migrant smuggling networks, human trafficking, drug trafficking, terrorism, and organized crime, he added.
