Morgan Gibbs-White misses start of Nottingham Forest pre-season camp in fresh twist to Spurs saga
Gibbs-White was set for a medical at Tottenham Hotspur earlier this month after Spurs were understood to have triggered his £60m release clause.
However, Forest accused Spurs of an allegedly illegal approach for Gibbs-White - contacting the player directly before going to the club - and the protracted saga has failed to move on the weeks since. Forest are currently considering legal action against Spurs.
The England international has now made himself notable for his absence from the travelling Forest pack, but it understood that this is not transfer related.
He has instead not travelled with the rest of the squad due to a personal reason and is expected he will join up with the team later in the week.
Gibbs-White had already returned to pre-season training with Forest last Monday and has trained again with the club since.
He also started Forest's 0-0 friendly draw with Chesterfield on Saturday at the SMH Group Stadium and played the first half.
Forest will spend the next week-and-a-half in Portugal on a training camp and will play friendlies against Premier League side Fulham and Portuguese side Estoril Praia.

Their partnership was broken shortly after Rodrigues reached 50 when she clipped the ball behind to Jones off Lauren Filer. Kaur's starring innings was ended just after bringing up her ton in the 47th over as she fell to Linsey Smith, with Sciver-Brunt making an excellent diving catch. Richa Ghosh added a quick cameo of 38 from 18 deliveries as India finished on 318 for five, but England's reply got off to a disastrous start when Goud smashed Beaumont's stumps in the opening over. Ryan Reynolds pays tribute after death of Joey Jones
Wrexham co-owner Ryan Reynolds has paid tribute to former Wrexham defender Joey Jones following his death at the age of 70. Llandudno-born left-back Jones made 479 appearances for the Red Dragons across three spells with the club. Hollywood A-lister Reynolds posted a picture on Instagram of himself and fellow co-owner Rob McElhenney alongside Jones. 'I'm really glad I got to spend time with you,' wrote Reynolds, who completed his takeover of the club with McElhenney in 2021. 'Thanks for the stories. Condolences to his family, friends and Mickey (Thomas, Jones' close friend and former Wrexham team-mate). Rest up, Joey. Big second half coming up.' Jones, who was capped 72 times by Wales, began his career with Wrexham in 1973 before moving to Liverpool, where he won two European Cups and a league title, two years later. He returned to play at the Racecourse Ground between 1978 and 1982 and then ended his career with the club – from 1987 to 1992 – following stints with Chelsea and Huddersfield.
