Bhool Chuk Maaf Box Office Collection Day 8: Rajkummar Rao and Wamiqa Gabbi's romantic comedy Bhool Chuk Maaf has completed half of its planned two-week theatrical run. According to industry tracker Sacnilk, the film's Indian nett collection rose to Rs 47.25 crore, after it earned Rs 3.15 crore on its second Friday. In all probability, the film should be able to cross the Rs 50 crore mark on Saturday, and will then have one week remaining to maximise its earnings.
The Akshay Kumar and R Madhavan courtroom drama Kesari 2 had a similar first week run, but it crossed the Rs 50 crore mark on its second Friday. With the current numbers, Bhool Chuk Maaf has already surpassed the India nett collection of Wamiqa's last film, Baby John, which featured Varun Dhawan and debutant Keerthy Suresh. On the other hand, Rajkummar's last film was the Amar Kaushik directorial Stree 2, which had an India nett collection of over Rs 600 crore.

The occupancy rates remained sparse, averaging of 10.90% throughout the day. The morning and afternoon shows achieved a rate of 5.27% and 11.80%, respectively, while the evening and night shows had a rate of 11.21% and 15.32%. The makers will be hoping that this number will go up the coming two days, as this is the last weekend the film will run in the theatres almost unchallenged. On June 5, Mani Ratnam's Thug Life, featuring Kamal Haasan, will be release in theatres, and on the very next day, the ensemble comedy Housefull 5 will be released. The cast of the latter includes stars like Riteish Deshmukh, Abhishek Bachchan, Akshay Kumar, Sonam Bajwa, Jacqueline Fernandez, Sanjay Dutt and Jackie Shroff.
The limited theatre run was decided after the makers of the film announced that they will be releasing the film straight on Prime Video. This move came during the aftermath of the Pahalgam attack and Operation Sindoor. This did not go well with the multiplex chain PVR INOX, which sued them for damages, and finally, Maddock Films had to release the film in theatres, but just for two weeks. The film will be available to stream on Prime Video from June 6.

'Don't Give Money..': Noted Filmmaker Questions Fee Given To Women, SC & ST Filmmakers; Sparks Row

Last Updated: Adoor said that women filmmaker shouldn't get money only because they are women, adding that they must also be given training. Adoor Gopalakrishnan, the renowned filmmaker sparked a row after he said that women shouldn't be given money to make films just because they are women. His remark on state funding for women and SC/ST filmmakers came at the Kerala Film Conclave. His remarks drew strong reactions from Kerala's Cultural Affairs Minister, Saji Cherian. Speaking at the event, Adoor questioned the current model of financial support being extended to filmmakers from Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), and women communities through the Kerala State Film Development Corporation (KSFDC). 'The government is giving around Rs 1.5 crore to individuals from SC/ST communities. I once told the Chief Minister that this could open up space for corruption," Adoor said. He added that while the intent behind such schemes is positive, proper groundwork was lacking. 'I want to give a suggestion — those selected should be given intensive training, at least for three months, on how films are made. Just having an interest isn't enough. They should understand budgeting and filmmaking. This is public money — tax money — and must be used responsibly. Instead of giving Rs 1 crore to one person, it should be split into Rs 50 lakh each for three people," he added. His remarks were met with immediate criticism. Pushpavathi PR, Vice Chairperson of the Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Akademi, responded by defending the support extended to women and transgender filmmakers as well. 'People from SC/ST communities have not had the opportunity to come to the forefront of cinema. It's been 98 years — that's the reality," said Minister Cherian. 'One of the best decisions taken by this government was to provide Rs 1.5 crore each for two films. We've already released four and are funding two more." 'How many women in our state have directed films? We gave Rs 1.5 crore each for two women-led films and completed three to four projects. We've also launched initiatives for the transgender community. Everyone should have the opportunity to be part of cinema." Responding to concerns about misuse, Cherian said, 'These decisions are not made arbitrarily. A screening committee of respected members from the Malayalam film industry evaluates each project. And the films produced under this scheme have been extraordinary. We are 100 per cent confident that we made the right decision." view comments First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. The film earned Rs 7.25 crore on its opening day, according to figures shared by Sacnilk. Although the start wasn't massive, the collection grew steadily over the weekend. Son Of Sardaar 2 Movie Review Sunday boost lifts total to Rs 24.75 crore On Day 3, as per early estimates, 'Son of Sardaar 2' collected around Rs 9.25 crore. That's less than half of what 'Son of Sardaar 2' has managed so far. Faces stiff fight from 'Saiyaara' Another strong contender at the box office is 'Saiyaara', starring Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda. Despite releasing earlier, it is still pulling in big numbers and collected Rs 8 crore on 3rd Sunday. Though 'Son of Sardaar 2' edged it out on Sunday by a small margin, 'Saiyaara' is clearly holding its ground. About 'Son of Sardaar 2' Directed by Vijay Kumar Arora, 'Son of Sardaar 2' is the sequel to the 2012 hit film 'Son of Sardaar'. The film brings Ajay Devgn back in the lead role, joined by Mrunal Thakur, Ravi Kishan, Deepak Dobriyal, and Sanjay Mishra in important roles. It also features Neeru Bajwa in her Bollywood debut and is the posthumous film of Mukul Dev , making it a special release for fans. 'Son of Sardaar 2' review The Times of India gave the film 3 stars, praising the performances and the overall entertainment value. An excerpt from their review reads,'Ajay Devgn is convincing as the endearing and guileless Sardar, shining in both comedy and emotional scenes. Mrunal Thakur, as the fiery and outgoing Rabia, holds her own. Ravi Kishan delivers a knockout performance as the businessman-turned-gangster who is exasperated with his father Ranjeet Singh's (Sharat Saxena) colourful ways. Mukul Dev and Vindu Dara Singh deserve special mention for their strong onscreen chemistry and impeccable comic timing together. Deepak Dobriyal plays the role of a transgener woman perfectly, though Sanjay Mishra remains underutilised, with characterisation that fall short of his talent.'
