New kid on the block Captain accused of impersonating Mampintsha
Newly signed Afrotainment singer Captain has been accused of impersonating Mampintsha.
Captain, real name Siphamandla Mathebula, is known for his debut single Cinderella featuring Danger, which has sparked controversy among Durban entertainers who accused him of impersonating the late Big Nuz member.
Mampintsha died in 2022 at Durban hospital after a short illness, leaving his group member Danger in the cold.
Many video clips have been circulating showing Babes Wodumo expressing her anger towards Captain.
A source close to West Ink (record label and production company) suggested Captain is a 'plant' in the music industry to bring the kwaito group Big Nuz back to its glory days.
'Captain used to be (West Ink founder) Mampintsha's driver. It is evident he studied Mampintsha's flow, dance moves and dress code. All his years working as Mampintsha's driver he was envying the guy. A lot of people are angry, not only Babes Wodumo', he said.
Another source said: 'Captain's collaboration with Danger was going to be a gateway for Big Nuz's comeback, but their plan has gone up in flames. It might be the beginning of the end for him as he was aiming for the mega prize, which was ending up being on Big Nuz's album sleeve.'

Babes Wodumo reunites with Mampintsha's father
Babes Wodumo shared a special encounter with the father of her late husband Mandla ' Mampintsha' Maphumulo, who died on December 24 2022 after a stroke. While performing at the EFF's Youth Day celebration in Umlazi, Durban, on Monday, the gqom star spotted Mampinstha's father, Thembinkosi Maphumulo, in the crowd and later escorted him to the VIP section. The two spent quality time together and reminisced about memories of Mampintsha. Their reunion coincided with Mampintsha's son's birthday. Speaking to TshisaLIVE, Babes said she was happy to spend time with Thembinkosi on such a special day. 'June 16 has always been a bittersweet day for us since our son was born. Every year I have to leave him to go work instead of celebrating his birthday because it's a busy day for me as an artist, even when his father was alive,' she told TshisaLIVE. 'Mampintsha's father and I have a relationship but don't see each other often. We were in the neighbourhood where Mampintsha grew up. I was excited to see the father of my husband, it reminded me of Mampintsha, who used to call him Mseshi. What excited me is I met him on his son's birthday. We were together until about 10pm.'
