No rustiness from Gavin Sheehan as Gusserane coast to handy win over Horeswood

Gavin Sheehan has spent most of 2025 to date with a football rather than a hurl in his hands, but his impact was still immense as Gusserane cruised to a handy win over District rivals Horeswood in Group B of The Courtyard Ferns Intermediate championship in O'Kennedy Park, New Ross on Sunday.
The O'Rahillys had missed his influence in their first-round defeat to Askamore, but he was full of running here and claimed 2-1 from centre-forward as the Ballycullane men built steadily on a 3-7 to 0-7 interval lead, with all six forwards already on the scoresheet after 13 minutes.

Wexford anglers represent Ireland in world championships

Wexford native and Ireland manager, Adrian Browne, has nurtured the skills of the young members to craft two teams to compete in Merida in early August, as six of 10 members are hailing from the Oakland's Club, four of whom are local to New Ross and surrounding areas. Twenty-year-old John Browne, from New Ross is described by Mr Browne as 'a seasoned campaigner at this stage'. John has being fishing for Ireland since the age of 12. He will be fishing his ninth major Championship in Spain and has represented Ireland at senior level. He was also a member of the Under 25 feeder team that won a silver medal at last year's World Championship in Hungary. Meanwhile, three summer camp graduates, Conor Fitzharris from Horeswood who is 'eager to learn with loads of potential', Michael Urbanski, 'a hard worker' from Camross, and Charlie Upton, 'a very talented angler' from Ballycurren, Glenmore, will all be making their first international appearances for Ireland on the Under 15 team. 'There's excitement building across the board and it's great to see the enthusiasm among the team members. We're actively looking for sponsorship and are grateful for the ongoing support from the community,' Mr Browne said. The team will travel to Spain on August 1, with management and parents also making the trip and will set out to practice until the championship takes place on August 8 and August 9.

Gusserane going well but it's a struggle for HWH-Bunclody with so many absentees

Wexford People Today at 09:30 THE HWH-BUNCLODY faithful ventured into McCauley Park, Bellefield on Saturday with an air of trepidation, and their pre-match fears were well founded. One week after defeating Fethard by 4-17 to 1-7, Gusserane coasted to another easy win in Group B of the Dominic Smith Electrical Senior football championship on a quite similar scoreline, 4-19 to 1-6 this time around as a late two-pointer from veteran substitute Adrian Flynn helped to bolster their first-round haul.

Glynn-Barntown will feel that they should have got something from the game and for perhaps three-quarters of it they were the better side.
