No rustiness from Gavin Sheehan as Gusserane coast to handy win over Horeswood

Wexford People Today at 04:30 Gavin Sheehan has spent most of 2025 to date with a football rather than a hurl in his hands, but his impact was still immense as Gusserane cruised to a handy win over District rivals Horeswood in Group B of The Courtyard Ferns Intermediate championship in O'Kennedy Park, New Ross on Sunday. The O'Rahillys had missed his influence in their first-round defeat to Askamore, but he was full of running here and claimed 2-1 from centre-forward as the Ballycullane men built steadily on a 3-7 to 0-7 interval lead, with all six forwards already on the scoresheet after 13 minutes.

Askamore boosted by rare derby win against HWH-Bunclody

What's rare is undoubtedly wonderful for Askamore as a blistering first-half showing paved the way for a rare hurling championship victory over neighbours HWH-Bunclody in Sunday's second round Group B The Courtyard Ferns Intermediate derby in Farmleigh. Since both sides suffered demotion from Senior ranks at the end of 2011, they had crossed paths on seven previous occasions in Intermediate, with Askamore losing all bar a round three tie in 2023.
