"I did it in childhood for fun but didn't try to extensively pursue it": Tusshar Kapoor admits using Ouija Board to contact ghost spirits in past

India Gazette19-05-2025
New Delhi [India], May 19 (ANI): Bollywood star Tusshar Kapoor is set to return to the big screens with a horror comedy 'Kapkapiii' which is based on a group of friends who decided to play a game with a Ouija board to make a contact with otherworldly spirits. While sharing his own experience regarding the Ouija Board, Tusshar revealed that he tried it in his 'childhood' for fun but now has decided to stay away from it.
At the press conference of 'Kapkapiii', which was attended by Tusshar Kapoor, Sonia Rathee and Siddhi Idnani, the 'Golmaal' actor humourously said that using Ouija Board or other activities to call the otherworldly spirits should only be 'limited' to movies.
When asked by ANI if he ever had a chance to interact with the people who tried Ouija Board or other such activities, as the movie is said to be 'based on true events'. To this, the actor responded,
'These are not my true events. People have done these things about which I don't know much. I did it in the childhood for fun but I didn't try to extensively pursue it neither want to do in future. It would be better if it is limited to films,' said Tusshar Kapoor.
The 'Golmaal' actor further believes that people should not 'disturb' the other world if they don't have complete knowledge about it.
'And why disturb the other world or the unknown about which we don't have much knowledge except those people who have an understanding of that world. They should also do it with safety. I am inquisitive and curious only till a point where people can watch horror film and get entertained with such stories,' added Tusshar.
The actor further said that he is unwilling to experiment or try activities similar to the Ouija Board in future.
'But, trying to experiment (Ouija Board) with it, is something I won't do. I would say that we should be in peace and let them also be rest in peace,' concluded Tusshar Kapoor.
The film is directed by the late filmmaker Sangeeth Sivan, who is known for his works like 'Kya Kool Hain Hum' and 'Apna Sapna Money Money'.
The movie also stars Shreyas Talpade in the lead role. (ANI)

'It made me an icon': Sharon Stone on her infamous Basic Instinct leg-crossing scene

Washington DC [US], August 5 (ANI): Actress and film producer Sharon Stone shared that she had the legal right to remove her leg-crossing scene from the 1992 movie, 'Basic Instinct', but chose not to, reported People. The controversial scene featured Stone, who played the role of crime novelist Catherine Tramell alongside Michael Douglas (Detective Nick Curran), crossing her legs while being questioned, revealing that she wasn't wearing underwear. "I very much believe that none of us knew at the time what we were getting in regard to that shot, and when Paul [Verhoeven] got it, he didn't want to lose it, and he was scared to show me. And I get that," recalled Stone. "Once I had time to calm down, I didn't make him take it out of the movie when I had the legal right to," she said, adding, "So I did have the chance to do it differently, and I didn't because once I had the chance to step back, I understood, as the director, not the girl in the film, that that made the movie better." Although having claimed in 2023 that she lost custody of her son following her role in Basic Instinct, Stone revealed that she has no hard feelings, reported People. "It made me an icon, but it didn't bring me respect. But would I do it again? We don't get to make these choices in life. I don't participate in the fantasy world in this way," she said. "What I did with what happened is exactly the way I wanted to do it. Verhoeven and I have a wonderful relationship," Stone added, 'Basic Instinct' is set to get a reboot, with the film's original writer, Joe Eszterhas, penning the script. Stone previously said that making the iconic film took a toll on everyone involved. "Paul Verhoeven [director] ended up in the hospital--his sinus thing ruptured, and he couldn't stop having a nosebleed," she said. "There was tremendous pressure on that set." "Now people walk around showing their penises on Netflix, but in the olden days, what we were doing was very new," she continued. "This was a feature film for a major studio, and we had nudity, sex, homosexuality, all these things that, in my era, were breaking norms," she added, reported People. (ANI)

The film will be produced by Sahil Seth under the banner of Cinedust 18 Films Pvt. Ltd. "This is not just a story about a blast -- it's about what followed. The human stories, the political shadow, the search for truth, and the emotional and legal turmoil faced by the accused and the victims' families. 'Malegaon Files' is our attempt to bring that reality to the screen," director Rajiv S Ruia, said about the film in the press note. Ruia told ANI that the film is currently in the pre-production stage and will be shot on real locations. "Our writer team is in talks. It is a very sensitive subject. Every detail behind it needs to be brought out. Research is going on...99 per cent we will shoot on real locations. We will do recce soon," he said. According to the press note, the makers stated that the script is being developed with inputs from investigative reports, court documents, and real testimonies to ensure that the narrative remains grounded and respectful. The film is slated to go on floors by late 2025, with more details about the cast and shooting schedule expected to be revealed soon. The Malegaon blast tragedy took place on September 29, 2008 in which six people were killed and 95 others injured when an explosive device strapped to a motorcycle detonated near a mosque in Malegaon City's Bhikku Chowk. Originally, 11 people were accused in the case; however, the court ultimately framed charges against 7, including former MP Sadhvi Pragya. The Mumbai NIA court on July 31 acquitted all seven accused of being involved in the 2008 blasts in Malegaon, with the court saying the prosecution failed to establish the case beyond a reasonable doubt. The 2008 Malegaon blast case was transferred to the NIA in 2011 from the Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS). After a 17-year-long wait and examination of hundreds of witnesses, the NIA special court acquitted all seven people accused under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, Arms Act and all other charges.
