) is making extensive preparations to ensure the success of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's one-day visit to Varanasi on August 2.
The PM is scheduled to address a large public gathering at Banauli (Kalika Dham) in the Sevapuri Assembly constituency.

, BJP Kashi region president, said the party aims to gather over 50,000 people for the event. Lists of two- and four-wheeler vehicles of party workers, office-bearers, supporters, and leaders from all eight assembly constituencies in the district are being prepared at the divisional level to facilitate smooth transportation.
He said there is great enthusiasm among the public for the upcoming meeting. As in previous visits, the Prime Minister is expected to announce development projects worth thousands of crores for his parliamentary constituency, further accelerating Varanasi's growth.
During his visit, the PM will inaugurate projects worth over Rs 600 crore, including the Sowa Rigpa Medical College at the Central Institute of Higher Tibetan Studies in Sarnath and the Varanasi-Bhadohi four-lane road. Additionally, he will lay the foundation stone for other development projects worth over Rs 1,650 crore.
In view of the visit, Police Commissioner Mohit Agarwal and District Magistrate Satyendra Kumar jointly inspected the proposed venue at Sevapuri.

'As stated by our Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, we have started this 'language movement' from today, which will hit the streets every weekend till the middle of August in the run-up to Independence Day. TMC leader and North Bengal Development Minister Udayan Guha led another march at Dinhata in Cooch Behar, vowing to resist the 'attempt by the BJP to strike off names of legitimate voters from voter lists, and send Indian citizens from Bengal to detention camps for electoral gains'. Thousands of TMC activists took part in the rallies in Sealdah and Bhawanipore with placards displaying Bengali alphabets and slogans against 'torture on Bengali-speaking people by the BJP outside West Bengal'. RO/ARO exam held peacefully, 60% skip test
1 2 Lucknow: The examination for the posts of review officer/assistant review officer (RO/ARO) was conducted smoothly and peacefully at 2,382 centres across the state on Sunday. According to officials, nearly 60% candidates skipped the examination as around 4.5 lakh students took the test out of total 10.7 lakh who had registered for the examination. UPPSC secretary Ashok Kumar said that Ayodhya recorded highest attendance with 52.8% candidates appearing for the examination, while Rampur registered the lowest at 25.8%. Participation in other major cities included 47.6% in Prayagraj, 48.9% in Lucknow, 44.4% in Kanpur, and 49.2% in Varanasi. "The highest number of 139 examination centres were set up in Kanpur, followed by Lucknow (129) and Prayagraj (106)," he said. "Cutting-edge security measures — including AI-based alert system, biometric verification, CCTV surveillance, and monitoring by the STF— ensured zero irregularities across the state. Dedicated teams monitored coaching centres and flagged suspicious behaviour to the authorities," an official said.
