When she pointed out that nasi goreng originated in Indonesia, he didn't argue the history — but he also didn't budge on his preference.
'Just accept it, Malaysia is better,' he said coolly, wrapping up the exchange with a line that had viewers both laughing and debating in the comments.
The woman tried several times to make her point, reiterating the dish's origins, but the man stood firm. 'While the dish may not have originated in Malaysia,' he explained, 'I still preferred the way it tasted there.'
Malaysian netizens were quick to jump into the comments, proudly backing the Jordanian's bold claim.
'Suddenly, nasi goreng is from Indonesia. Nasi goreng can't really be claimed by anyone since it's a worldwide dish found in every country. But as usual, Indonesians love to claim it,' one user called @kaukoyakketu commented.
'That Jordanian guy looked super annoyed with her. But his reply was spot on!' LEON wrote.

Top local record producer Luncai Emas unleashes the talented Iskandar Zulkarnain in his comeback trail with 'Sewaktu Bahgia'
After a long hiatus, the talented pop-rock singer Iskandar Zulkarnain, former singer of Projektor Band, is now coming out with his latest solo single titled Sewaktu Bahagia. This emotional song was released under the Luncai Emas label, marking his next artistic journey. ''Sewaktu Bahagia'' was born from a true story experienced by composers and lyricists under Luncai Emas, namely Aidil AF and Jeremy Erskine, who each faced disappointment in love. Lyric lines such as 'kau berjalan tanpa ku sedar, kau rasahkan sukuk bahagia' encapsulate the disappointment of a lover who ruined the happiness they once experienced. This song is an honest expression of the heart, embroidered with the beauty of melody and the pain of love feelings. Iskandar was previously known for his distinctive voice and ability in 'emotional' songs that have been hits on the radio before. ''I am very honoured and grateful to be able to collaborate with big names like Aidil Af and Datuk M. Nasir. This song not only reflects my personal story, but also symbolizes my resurgence in the world of music,'' said Iskandar. Iskandar also expressed his hope that ''Sewaktu Bahagia'' would not only be well received but would also become an evergreen song that would continue to be relevant across generations. He also expressed his appreciation to the fans who have never stopped supporting him and have been faithfully waiting for his comeback. 'Thank you for all the prayers and support. Expect the best from me,' he said. Luncai Emas Sdn Bhd Production Director – Keon Omar has chosen Hidayat Nasir, a young producer to take on the responsibility of producing this single. "I am very grateful to have been given the opportunity to produce the latest song sung by Iskandar Zulkarnain, created by Aidil, which marks Iskandar's comeback after several years of going on a break. This collaboration would not have been possible without the support of Luncai Emas who believed in my abilities as a new producer," said Hidayat Nasir, producer of the song Sewaktu Bahagia and also guitarist for the band Pitahati. The production process of this song also received a special touch from music legend M. Nasir, who also guided and monitored Iskandar in delivering this song more effectively, and the singer said that it had a great impact on the final quality of this work. For the record, Iskandar Zulkarnain is a Malaysian singer-songwriter and previously vocalist of Projector Band, a popular pop-rock group known for their emotional and melodic music with their hit single "Sudah Ku Tahu", which became a chart-topping success and resonated with fans for its heartfelt lyrics and catchy tune. Iskandar's distinctive voice and ability to convey deep emotions through his performances have made him a standout figure in the Malaysian music scene. Over the years, he has contributed significantly to the band's discography and has also explored solo projects that further showcase his versatility as an artist. With a growing fanbase and continued involvement in both group and individual music ventures, Iskandar Zulkarnain remains a respected name in contemporary Malaysian pop and rock music. A lyric video for ''Sewatu Bahagia'' has been filmed and will be released on the Luncai Emas YouTube channel on Friday (July 25, 2025) along with the official audio on all digital channels.

Taiwan-based Malaysian actor Hero Tai says wife's constant air-cond use led to RM2k electricity bill
Malaysian actor Hero Tai and his Ukrainian wife, model Tatiana Lin, recently aired their marital woes during an appearance on a Taiwanese variety show. The couple, who are currently based in Taiwan, revealed that clashing views on finances have been a huge source of tension in their relationship. 'I'm trying to save money, but she's busy spending it,' Tai, 38, said as quoted by Singaporean news outlet 8days. 'I manage the finances myself – from groceries to baby formula, diapers and baby food. However, she's unwilling to communicate about it.' Tai, known for his roles in Kepong Gangster and The Perfect Girl, had previously grumbled about Lin spending NT$10,000 (RM1,439) a month on coffee alone. Their latest budget battle? Air conditioning. According to Tai, there was no reason for Lin to keep the air conditioner running all day, which has resulted in a steep NT$16,000 (RM2,303) electricity bill. Defending her actions, Lin – who married Tai in 2023 and is currently expecting their second child – cited the punishing summer heat. 'What do you expect me to do? Not turn on the air conditioner? We have a child at home too!' she said. Lin called Tai's penny-pinching habits 'ridiculous', adding: 'He calculates everything – this diaper is NT$5 (72 sen) and that one NT$6 (86 sen). Why waste time? Just grab whatever. I'll buy whichever one I like.' Tai then argued that the diapers Lin chose cost NT$15 (RM2.16) each, while his pick came in at just over NT$5. However, Lin said her choice was justified, as the diapers she wanted were much gentler on a baby's sensitive skin. Although he remained unconvinced, Tai said he eventually relented and paid the bill.

ESO wraps up three-night KL tour under Maestro Jaap van Zweden
KUALA LUMPUR: The Evergreen Symphony Orchestra (ESO), led by its Artist-in-Residence Jaap van Zweden, concluded its three-night tour in Kuala Lumpur with a final concert at Dewan Filharmonik Petronas (DFP) on July 20. The tour, titled "Destiny Symphony – Jaap van Zweden and the Evergreen Symphony Orchestra," featured a VIP performance on July 18 and a charity concert the following day. All three performances were held at DFP, marking ESO's first international tour under Maestro van Zweden since his appointment in early 2025. "This was a meaningful milestone for the orchestra and a testament to the deepening cultural exchange between Taiwan and Malaysia. The concert was a demonstration of the power of unbounded charity and music without borders," ESO said in a statement. Some 300 guests from more than 10 organisations for disadvantaged communities attended the charity concert on July 19, including the National Autism Society Malaysia (Nasom), the National Council for the Blind Malaysia (NCBM), and the Down Syndrome Association of Selangor (PWSDNS). The concerts showcased a range of classical works, with the first half featuring Mendelssohn's "Fingal's Cave" Overture, evoking the sweeping imagery of the ocean. It was followed by Mozart's Concerto for Flute, Harp and Orchestra in C major, with Malaysian flutist Yew-Kia Koh and Taiwanese harpist Menglu Chiu performing as dual soloists. "This collaboration symbolised the beauty of international artistic cooperation," said van Zweden. The second half of the programme featured Beethoven's Symphony No. 5 in C minor, widely known as the "Symphony of Fate", and concluded with two encores: Dvořák's Slavonic Dance Op. 46, No. 8, and the beloved Malaysian classic "Getaran Jiwa." The ESO said the Malaysian tour not only promoted Taiwanese musical excellence but also strengthened ties between the peoples of Taiwan and Malaysia. Plans are already in motion for tours next year and beyond. Future tours are expected to include stops in major cities across Asia, Europe, and the United States, further elevating Taiwan's presence on the global classical music stage.
