Top local record producer Luncai Emas unleashes the talented Iskandar Zulkarnain in his comeback trail with 'Sewaktu Bahgia'

The Star5 days ago
After a long hiatus, the talented pop-rock singer Iskandar Zulkarnain, former singer of Projektor Band, is now coming out with his latest solo single titled Sewaktu Bahagia. This emotional song was released under the Luncai Emas label, marking his next artistic journey.
''Sewaktu Bahagia'' was born from a true story experienced by composers and lyricists under Luncai Emas, namely Aidil AF and Jeremy Erskine, who each faced disappointment in love. Lyric lines such as 'kau berjalan tanpa ku sedar, kau rasahkan sukuk bahagia' encapsulate the disappointment of a lover who ruined the happiness they once experienced.
This song is an honest expression of the heart, embroidered with the beauty of melody and the pain of love feelings.
Iskandar was previously known for his distinctive voice and ability in 'emotional' songs that have been hits on the radio before.
''I am very honoured and grateful to be able to collaborate with big names like Aidil Af and Datuk M. Nasir. This song not only reflects my personal story, but also symbolizes my resurgence in the world of music,'' said Iskandar.
Iskandar also expressed his hope that ''Sewaktu Bahagia'' would not only be well received but would also become an evergreen song that would continue to be relevant across generations.
He also expressed his appreciation to the fans who have never stopped supporting him and have been faithfully waiting for his comeback. 'Thank you for all the prayers and support. Expect the best from me,' he said.
Luncai Emas Sdn Bhd Production Director – Keon Omar has chosen Hidayat Nasir, a young producer to take on the responsibility of producing this single.
"I am very grateful to have been given the opportunity to produce the latest song sung by Iskandar Zulkarnain, created by Aidil, which marks Iskandar's comeback after several years of going on a break. This collaboration would not have been possible without the support of Luncai Emas who believed in my abilities as a new producer," said Hidayat Nasir, producer of the song Sewaktu Bahagia and also guitarist for the band Pitahati.
The production process of this song also received a special touch from music legend M. Nasir, who also guided and monitored Iskandar in delivering this song more effectively, and the singer said that it had a great impact on the final quality of this work.
For the record, Iskandar Zulkarnain is a Malaysian singer-songwriter and previously vocalist of Projector Band, a popular pop-rock group known for their emotional and melodic music with their hit single "Sudah Ku Tahu", which became a chart-topping success and resonated with fans for its heartfelt lyrics and catchy tune.
Iskandar's distinctive voice and ability to convey deep emotions through his performances have made him a standout figure in the Malaysian music scene. Over the years, he has contributed significantly to the band's discography and has also explored solo projects that further showcase his versatility as an artist.
With a growing fanbase and continued involvement in both group and individual music ventures, Iskandar Zulkarnain remains a respected name in contemporary Malaysian pop and rock music.
A lyric video for ''Sewatu Bahagia'' has been filmed and will be released on the Luncai Emas YouTube channel on Friday (July 25, 2025) along with the official audio on all digital channels.

#SHOWBIZ: Aliff Aziz on Bella Astillah: I'm happy to see her move forward

SINGAPORE: Following his divorce from Bella Astillah, Singaporean singer and actor Aliff Aziz, 34, has expressed happiness for his ex-wife, seeing her move on with her life. In an interview with Singapore's Berita Minggu, Aliff reacted positively to the social media buzz surrounding Bella's relationship with Muar MP Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman, often linked to the hashtag #BASS. "If their happiness lies there, I am content and wish them both the very best," Aliff said, emphasising that his primary concern remains the well-being of his two children, Ayden Adrean, 8, and Ara Adreanna, 5. "Ayden and Ara are surrounded by people who love them, God willing. That's my first thought. "Whoever is around them, as long as they are loved and treated well... That's enough." As a father, Aliff said he feels no jealousy when he sees his children happy. Despite his contentment with their happiness, Aliff, the former champion of Gegar Vaganza Season 8 (GV8), admitted his deep longing for his children, having lost contact with them since 2024. He revealed that he hasn't had the opportunity to meet or communicate directly with them, finding it difficult to watch their video recordings without becoming tearful. Even from afar, Aliff follows his children's progress, especially around their birthdays — July 8 for Ayden and July 18 for Ara. "I miss them so much. My prayer every day is to be able to see them again and convey everything I hold in my heart," he said. "Daddy always remembers and prays for Ayden and Ara... I love you so much and I miss you." Aliff hopes fate will reunite them, allowing him to explain many things. On Feb 21, Aliff and Malaysian actress Ruhainies were fined RM3,000 by the Federal Territories Syariah High Court after pleading guilty to a khalwat charge. This followed reports in March 2024 of a married artiste and actress being caught in close proximity at a luxury condominium. Bella and Aliff, who married in 2016, divorced with a single talaq on June 13, 2024. Aliff openly admitted his guilt over not being present for important moments in his children's lives. He also worries about how society's mixed perceptions of him might affect them. Facing a dilemma, he often debates whether to remain silent to protect his family or take legal action, which could escalate tensions. His current focus, Aliff emphasised, is no longer on external matters or current sensations. Instead, he's dedicating his energy to his recovery process and getting back on his feet. He expressed appreciation for his mother's unwavering support, acknowledging the toll his issues have taken on his family. Determined to rise, he aims to become someone they can be proud of again. Aliff also touched on the pressure from media narratives and public perceptions, admitting there are times he feels compelled to speak up but refrains to protect his children and family. "Sometimes I want to tell you everything. But when I think about the impact on my children and family, I end up feeling completely in the wrong," he said.

Irfan Zaini aims to bridge Malaysian, global film industries

Irfan, whose full name is Muhammad Irfan Mohamed Zaini, 30, achieved an impressive milestone by appearing in three Tamil films alongside renowned star Thalapathy Vijay, 51, who is also actively involved in politics in Tamil Nadu, India. 27 Jul 2025 12:01pm According to Irfan, the opportunity to act in India did not come easily. It required nearly five years of back-and-forth travel, meeting directors and producers, and even being scammed by individuals who made false promises. - Bernama photo KUALA LUMPUR - Behind his calm demeanour and modest smile, rising actor Irfan Zaini harbours a big dream-not just to be known on the local screen, but to serve as a bridge connecting the Malaysian film industry to the international stage. Irfan, whose full name is Muhammad Irfan Mohamed Zaini, 30, achieved an impressive milestone by appearing in three Tamil films alongside renowned star Thalapathy Vijay, 51, who is also actively involved in politics in Tamil Nadu, India. Irfan said that in trying to break into the Kollywood industry, there's no set strategy to follow, but his deep passion drove him to work hard and patiently wait for his chance. - Bernama photo The young actor from Kuala Lumpur made his debut in the film Kuruvi (2008) at the age of 12, followed by Greatest of All Time (GOAT) (2024), and is now working on Jana Nayagan, which is currently in production and expected to be released early next year. According to Irfan, the opportunity to act in India did not come easily. It required nearly five years of back-and-forth travel, meeting directors and producers, and even being scammed by individuals who made false promises. "People think I went there and immediately got acting roles, but the truth is, I lost a lot of time, money, and energy. Many are still waiting for their chance, but I consider myself lucky because I was desperate to act in India,' he said in an interview with Bernama recently. He said that in trying to break into the Kollywood industry, there's no set strategy to follow, but his deep passion drove him to work hard and patiently wait for his chance. "Maybe others would have given up halfway,' he added. Irfan, who gained recognition among Malay audiences after starring in Blood Brothers: Bara Naga, said acting in India opened his eyes to the vastly different work culture, with productions managed in a more professional and structured manner. "In Malaysia, a film might have only two to four assistant directors. But in India, they can have over 20. "Each has a specific role-some handle the filming locations, others coordinate hundreds or even thousands of crew members, and some focus solely on planning complex sets like large-scale action scenes. Everything needs to be managed efficiently and quickly,' he explained. He added that most film crew members in India are part of a film workers' union that protects their welfare, including compensation in the event of injury or death during filming. "But in terms of quality-like camera work and storylines-I think Malaysia is already on par with India, even though our films are mostly made with smaller budgets,' he said, expressing his determination not only to make a name abroad but also to open more doors for collaboration between the Malaysian and international film industries. He pointed to the Indian film industry's recent focus on pan-India films, which bring together actors and crew from different regions such as Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, and Malayalam, and are released in multiple languages simultaneously-creating a nationwide phenomenon. "If they can bring together actors from different cultures and languages, I believe we too can start collaborating with neighbouring countries like Korea, Thailand, or Indonesia. "So when foreign actors appear in our films, our market will grow even bigger,' he said, believing that such a model could elevate Malaysian cinema on the global stage. - BERNAMA
