New Glastonbury map reveals big changes for 2025

Metro30-05-2025
The new Glastonbury 2025 map has been revealed, and here are the major changes you need to know about.
Sleeping bags, tents and hunter wellies are at the ready as the biggest UK music festival is fast approaching.
Ahead of the Worthy Farm festival, the headline acts have been announced with British pop band The 1975, folk rock star Neil Young and US pop singer Olivia Rodrigo all taking major spots in the lineup.
The festival has now released the new maps for the festival, which show there are some subtle but important changes that show how the farm is mapped out for the event.
The Other Stage capacity has been extended, meaning the crowd capacity will be much larger.
Levels, the dance music area in Silver Hayes, which will host Groove Armada this year, has increased. As has the Dragonfly (previously known as Arcadia), the Glade, and Lonely Hearts Club.
Camping-wise, there are some shrinking and others growing. Oxylers campsite has halved, South Park 2 has also shrunk as has Pennard Hill, and the indoor stage The Assembly which was introduced just last year.
Shangri-La has introduced a new area, Dragon's Tail, which includes a bar.
There is also now more public camping space in Pylon Ground, and two new toilet blocks at Park Hill.
Glastonbury is set on Worthy Farm with a capacity of 210,000 festival-goers.
The festival is around 900 to 1,000 acres, which is pretty massive and difficult to visualise.
This is around the equivalent of 500 full-size football pitches, and at it's widest point it's around 1.5miles in length.
The entire festival is surrounded by an 8 km perimeter fence.
FRIDAY
On Friday, headlining the festival is The 1975. Also performing that day is: Loyle Carter, Busta Rhymes, Biffy Clyro, Alanis Morissette, The Blossoms, CMAT, and Fatboy Slim, among many other names.
SATURDAY
Saturday will see Neil Young headline, with Charli XCX, Raye, Doechii, Ezra Collective, Deftones, Kneecap, Scissor Sisters, and the Kaiser Chiefs also performing.
SUNDAY
Sunday will see Olivia Rodrigo perform with Rod Stewart in the legends slot. Other acts performing that day include: Noah Kahan, Jorja Smith, The Libertines, Snow Patrol, and The Prodigy.
The excitement for the festival is growing with Rod Stewart confirming that he will be joined by a special guest on stage, his former Faces bandmate Ronnie Wood. More Trending
He was asked on That Peter Crouch Podcast whether he was in touch with other The Rolling Stones' members and 'other people in music'.
Sir Rod replied: 'Not really. Woody (Wood) I do a lot, just recently, because we're going to do Glastonbury together.
'Elton, sometimes, you know, birthdays, but nowhere near how we used to, I think probably because he doesn't drink anymore, and Woody doesn't drink, and I still do. They stay away from me. Bad influence.'

Legendary London restaurant Simpson's In The Strand has confirmed its reopening date

We've known that Jeremy King – the hospitality brains behind the likes of Brasserie Zédel, The Wolseley and recent Bayswater opening The Park – has been planning to reopen the legendary Simpson's in the Strand for a while. And finally we have an opening date. 'At the end of 2025, just a few years short of its 200th anniversary, Jeremy King will relaunch this legendary restaurant,' says an official statement. It was initially thought that Simpson's would be re-opening in May of this year. Serving up traditional British fare since 1828, and beloved by literary luminaries Charles Dickens and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Simpson's was one of the first UK restaurants to earn a Michelin star back in 1974. However, this London dining institution has been shut since 2020 and in 2023 it auctioned off a bunch of fixtures and fittings, including carving trolleys, tables, booths and three pianos. In other words: expect a whole new look inside. More information about the revamped resto has also been newly released. Simpson's will have two dining rooms - the Grand Divan and the Green Room (which is apparently a 'working title') – as well as two bars – Simpson's Bar and Nellie's. There will also be private ballroom for 100 covers, called the Assembly Room. 'Food throughout will be British at its core, with a meal in the Grand Divan being a rather traditional affair and the Green Room offering a more flexible service at a lower price point.' Simpson's, 100 Strand, WC2R 0EW.

Mum adopts gecko from Spain after finding it in her suitcase

Beth Withington and her partner Ryan Birch, 31, travelled to Costa Blanca in Spain for a week of sun with their three kids on July 13. When they returned home on July 20 from their Jet2 holiday, the 24-year-old, who was simply expecting to tackle a mountain of washing, was shocked to spot the tiny reptile lurking inside Ryan's case. The pharmacist dispenser assumes the 2.5-inch gecko must have been inside their hotel room and covertly crawled into the unlocked case stashed under their dressing table. After sharing their pint-sized stowaway on TikTok, the clip has gone viral with more than 146,000 views (Image: Kennedy News/bethwithington5) The worried couple scooped him up into an aerated plastic tub and rang a vet who confirmed they were able to keep him. Despite previously saying they'd never have pets, the mum-of-three believes the gecko 'chose' their family and have decided to adopt Grylls, named after the British Adventurer Bear Grylls. After sharing their pint-sized stowaway on TikTok, the clip has gone viral with more than 146,000 views. Despite swapping the sunnier climes of Spain for a chillier Manchester, the reptile seems to be thriving thanks to a tank and heat mat gifted by kind-hearted social media users. The couple are due to take him to a vet to ensure he's disease-free and safe for the family to handle. Beth, from Littleborough, Greater Manchester, said: "We were all shocked and didn't know what to say. We couldn't believe it. "It wasn't until Monday afternoon that we opened the suitcase. As I got all the clothes out I noticed a lizard and I was like 'oh my god Ryan there's a lizard there'. I was really shocked. Native wild animals in the UK "The first thing I did was slam the suitcase shut because I was a little bit scared. We opened the suitcase back up and it was just there running around. "We took the suitcase back downstairs and at this point we didn't really know what to do. We put it in a plastic tub and my partner put a few holes in it with a screwdriver. "We ended up ringing a lizard wildlife number. He said 'send me your address and a picture of it and someone will pick him up'. "I put a post on social media saying 'does anyone know what to do with it?' A few people commented saying they'd take it in so we thought 'we might as well keep it then'." After the vet confirmed the family were able to keep the gecko, they decided to adopt him. After being gifted a tank and heat mat from social media users, the pair bought locust hoppers, fruit flies, gecko food, reptile bark and a UV light to keep Grylls comfortable. Beth said: "We're enjoying having it as a new member of the family. It's a sign, he clearly wanted to be part of our family. "He chose us and now we've got a little holiday souvenir. "We've called it Grylls like Bear Grylls and my partner says he's a born survivor. He's a very strong little lizard. "We never considered getting a pet gecko and we said we wouldn't have any pets. Recommended reading: "We have said if Grylls passes away we will have to buy another one. I think he's really cute and the children would be devastated, it's meant to be. "I told my [three-year-old] son we were getting rid of it at first and this morning when he woke up I told him we're keeping it and he's thrilled. "He said 'I love the lizard's new home, it's amazing'. I think he's very happy about it. "Some people [on TikTok] were really offended and acted like I took it and put it in my case like 'you're coming home with me'. But we believe it chose us. "We couldn't put it into the wild, it wouldn't survive and it wouldn't be fair on it." A Jet2 spokesman said: "With our generous 22kg luggage allowance, there is always room for a gecko or two!"
