Magnitude 5.5 Earthquake Strikes Central Pakistan

Taarek Refaat A magnitude 5.5 earthquake struck central Pakistan early Sunday, according to the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ). The quake occurred at a depth of 10 kilometers, with its epicenter located approximately 149 kilometers west of Multan, a major city in Punjab province, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) reported. There were no immediate reports of casualties or significant damage, but residents in nearby towns reportedly felt strong tremors, prompting some to flee their homes in the early morning hours. Pakistan lies in a seismically active region where earthquakes are common, particularly along the boundary between the Indian and Eurasian tectonic plates. Authorities continue to monitor the situation and assess potential aftershocks. read more Gold prices rise, 21 Karat at EGP 3685 NATO's Role in Israeli-Palestinian Conflict US Expresses 'Strong Opposition' to New Turkish Military Operation in Syria Shoukry Meets Director-General of FAO Lavrov: confrontation bet. nuclear powers must be avoided News Iran Summons French Ambassador over Foreign Minister Remarks News Aboul Gheit Condemns Israeli Escalation in West Bank News Greek PM: Athens Plays Key Role in Improving Energy Security in Region News One Person Injured in Explosion at Ukrainian Embassy in Madrid News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier Sports Former Al Zamalek Player Ibrahim Shika Passes away after Long Battle with Cancer Videos & Features Tragedy Overshadows MC Alger Championship Celebration: One Fan Dead, 11 Injured After Stadium Fall Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt Business Fear & Greed Index Plummets to Lowest Level Ever Recorded amid Global Trade War Arts & Culture Zahi Hawass: Claims of Columns Beneath the Pyramid of Khafre Are Lies News Flights suspended at Port Sudan Airport after Drone Attacks Videos & Features Video: Trending Lifestyle TikToker Valeria Márquez Shot Dead during Live Stream News Shell Unveils Cost-Cutting, LNG Growth Plan Technology 50-Year Soviet Spacecraft 'Kosmos 482' Crashes into Indian Ocean

Protestors Demand Thai PM Paetongtarn Shinawatra's Resignation over Call with Cambodian Leader

Taarek Refaat Tens of thousands of Thai protesters took to the streets of Bangkok on Saturday demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra, following the leak of a controversial phone call with former Cambodian leader Hun Sen that has sparked public outrage. The leaked diplomatic conversation, allegedly released by a Cambodian official, was intended to defuse a simmering border dispute between the two Southeast Asian neighbors. However, it quickly became a flashpoint in Thai domestic politics after Paetongtarn referred to Hun Sen as 'uncle' and described a Thai military commander as her "opponent," raising eyebrows over her allegiances and judgment. The 38-year-old prime minister, daughter of ousted former leader Thaksin Shinawatra, now finds herself at the center of a growing crisis. On Friday, a key party in her governing coalition abruptly withdrew, accusing her of "submissiveness to Cambodia" and "undermining the authority of the Thai military," leaving her with only a slim parliamentary majority. By Saturday afternoon, approximately 10,000 demonstrators had gathered near Bangkok's Victory Monument, waving Thai flags and carrying placards reading 'Resign, treacherous Prime Minister.' Many in the crowd were veterans of the Yellow Shirt movement, a royalist-leaning faction that helped topple Thaksin's government nearly two decades ago. The opposition has seized on the leaked call as evidence that Paetongtarn is unfit to lead, accusing her of compromising national interests and insulting the military—an institution that still holds substantial sway in Thai politics. The Thai government has yet to confirm or deny the authenticity of the recording. In a brief statement, Paetongtarn called the backlash 'politically motivated' and said the conversation was taken out of context. However, the statement did little to quell the public anger. The controversy comes amid already heightened political tensions, with the Shinawatra family remaining a polarizing force in Thailand's fragile democracy. Though Paetongtarn was elected last year in a historic vote that saw a return of her family to power, critics say her leadership has been marred by nepotism and inconsistency. Meanwhile, Cambodian officials have remained largely silent, with neither Phnom Penh nor Hun Sen issuing any formal comment on the leak. Analysts warn the incident may further strain Thai-Cambodian relations and could embolden the Thai military to reassert its influence behind the scenes—something that Thailand's democratic institutions have long struggled to resist. read more Gold prices rise, 21 Karat at EGP 3685 NATO's Role in Israeli-Palestinian Conflict US Expresses 'Strong Opposition' to New Turkish Military Operation in Syria Shoukry Meets Director-General of FAO Lavrov: confrontation bet. nuclear powers must be avoided News Iran Summons French Ambassador over Foreign Minister Remarks News Aboul Gheit Condemns Israeli Escalation in West Bank News Greek PM: Athens Plays Key Role in Improving Energy Security in Region News One Person Injured in Explosion at Ukrainian Embassy in Madrid News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier Sports Former Al Zamalek Player Ibrahim Shika Passes away after Long Battle with Cancer Videos & Features Tragedy Overshadows MC Alger Championship Celebration: One Fan Dead, 11 Injured After Stadium Fall Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt Business Fear & Greed Index Plummets to Lowest Level Ever Recorded amid Global Trade War Arts & Culture Zahi Hawass: Claims of Columns Beneath the Pyramid of Khafre Are Lies News Flights suspended at Port Sudan Airport after Drone Attacks Videos & Features Video: Trending Lifestyle TikToker Valeria Márquez Shot Dead during Live Stream News Shell Unveils Cost-Cutting, LNG Growth Plan Technology 50-Year Soviet Spacecraft 'Kosmos 482' Crashes into Indian Ocean

Iran's Anchor Sahar Iranian Anchor "Sahar Emami" Awarded Venezuela's Prestigious Simon Bolívar Journalism Prize

Taarek Refaat Emami became a symbol of resilience after she was seen on live television raising her hand in defiance just moments before an Israeli airstrike targeted the Iranian state broadcaster's headquarters in Tehran earlier this year. The dramatic footage, which circulated widely across international media, captured the harrowing moment the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) studios came under direct attack. According to IRNA, Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro personally conferred the award to honor both Emami and the victims of the Israeli strike on the IRIB network. The ceremony, held in Caracas, highlighted what Maduro described as "unparalleled bravery and professional integrity in the face of aggression." Iran's ambassador to Venezuela, Ali Shaghini, officially accepted the award on behalf of Emami and the families of the fallen media personnel. 'This recognition extends beyond one journalist; it honors the collective sacrifice of Iranian media workers who stood firm in the line of duty,' Shaghini said. In a statement following the ceremony, Emami expressed gratitude for the solidarity shown by Venezuela. 'This award belongs to every journalist who risks their life to speak truth in the face of war,' she said. 'Our voices cannot be silenced by bombs.' President Maduro, who has maintained close ties with Tehran in recent years, used the occasion to denounce what he called 'imperialist aggression' and praised the Iranian media's role in 'resisting misinformation and imperialist narratives.' The Simón Bolívar National Journalism Prize is awarded annually by the Venezuelan government to individuals or institutions that exemplify journalistic excellence, often with a political undertone reflecting Caracas' anti-Western stance. This year's selection of an Iranian journalist underscores the deepening media and diplomatic ties between Venezuela and Iran. The Israeli strike on the IRIB building, part of a broader escalation in regional tensions, resulted in multiple casualties and was widely condemned by Iranian authorities. While Israel has not officially commented on the attack, it came amid heightened hostilities between the two nations. The international community continues to monitor developments in the region, with press freedom advocates warning of growing dangers for journalists operating in conflict zones. read more 2 Most Inspirational Green Projects in Egypt AEW Dynamite, WWE NXT to Strive over Viewership Tonight Egypt Marks 70th Anniv. of 2011 Revolution, National Police Day In Depth: WWE NXT Halloween Havoc In Depth: AEW Dynamite, WWE NXT Tuesday Viewership Strive Videos & Features WATCH: Egyptians Break Ramadan Fasts in Matariya Videos & Features GrEEk Campus Hosts Jobzella Fifth Career Fair Videos & Features 3 Iconic Ramadan Songs of All Times Videos & Features Top 4 Destinations to Visit in Upper Egypt News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier Sports Former Al Zamalek Player Ibrahim Shika Passes away after Long Battle with Cancer Videos & Features Tragedy Overshadows MC Alger Championship Celebration: One Fan Dead, 11 Injured After Stadium Fall Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt Business Fear & Greed Index Plummets to Lowest Level Ever Recorded amid Global Trade War Arts & Culture Zahi Hawass: Claims of Columns Beneath the Pyramid of Khafre Are Lies News Flights suspended at Port Sudan Airport after Drone Attacks Videos & Features Video: Trending Lifestyle TikToker Valeria Márquez Shot Dead during Live Stream News Shell Unveils Cost-Cutting, LNG Growth Plan Technology 50-Year Soviet Spacecraft 'Kosmos 482' Crashes into Indian Ocean
