Lidl to release Oasis-inspired parka jacket for limited time
The supermarket will be releasing the 'Lidl by Lidl' jacket, which is similar in style to the parka made famous by Liam Gallagher. It features two built-in drink cooling pockets to stop roadies getting warm, and the zipper doubles as a bottle opener too. In a statement, Lidl said: "Complete with a Lidl by Lidl badge on the sleeve in the nation's most iconic supermarket colours, it also comes with a tambourine for spontaneous jam sessions. This isn't just a jacket… it's a backstage pass to the ultimate party." A post shared by Lidl GB (@lidlgb) The jacket will be available to purchase on the Lidl website here from 10am on Wednesday, July 9. It will cost £30 and the supermarket will be donating all proceeds from the jacket launch to its charity partner, the NSPCC. The jacket was announced on Tuesday, July 2, with a 30-foot mural in the Gallaghers' hometown just outside Manchester City's Etihad Stadium. Joanna Gomer, Marketing Director at Lidl GB, said: 'In celebration of one of the biggest reunion tours for music & culture, we wanted to give consumers 'everything they ever dreamed of' and create something iconic. Lidl to launch Oasis-inspired jacket to celebrate iconic band's reunion
Get ready for the legendary band's anticipated reunion tour with this limited-edition jacket. We're in a bit of an Oasis fever at the moment. With the beloved Britpop band's highly anticipated reunion tour kicking off tomorrow, Friday, July 2, it's time to get the merch sorted. To celebrate the return of the Gallagher brothers, Lidl has jumped on the bandwagon by announcing that it will be dropping its "Lidl by Lidl" Oasis-inspired jacket - and we know how fans can get their hands on it. For devoted fans who want to make sure they don't miss out, the limited-edition jacket, which will be priced at £30, will be available on the supermarket's website from 10am on Thursday, July 10. Unveiled on a mural painted outside of Manchester's Etihad Stadium, it boasts the 90s parka-style we have come to associate with the band, alongside two built-in drink-cooling pockets and a bottle opener. Eagle-eyed fans might realise that its design pays homage to a jacket worn by frontman Liam Gallagher in a Berghaus campaign that featured eerily similar colours to Lidl's bold red, blue and yellow - but at a much pricier £300. Launched to celebrate 30 years of Lidl GB as well as the release of Oasis' debut studio album "Definitely, Maybe", all proceeds of the Lidl by Lidl jacket will go towards the supermarket's charity partner NSPCC. With Oasis' return being highly anticipated, it's not a surprise to say that it has already garnered the attention of super-fans on Instagram after Lidl shared its exciting news in a post recently. One excited shopper said: "Actually obsessed." Another Oasis follower wrote: "My goodness I need one to add to my collection!!!" Someone else enthused: "Shut up and take my money." Of course, for those who sadly miss out, it's not all doom and gloom, as Lidl has also confirmed it will be offering Britpop accessories such as the classic bucket hats and aviator sunglasses on its website - completely free of charge. Joanna Gomer, Marketing Director at Lidl GB says of the campaign 'In celebration of one of the biggest reunion tours for music & culture, we wanted to give consumers 'everything they ever dreamed of' and create something iconic. "With Oasis's 'Definitely Maybe' album and Lidl GB both marking 30 years, this jacket taps into the love the nation has not only for Lidl fashion, but also our brand and the band. "Whether heading to a gig, or for those that want to look 'supersonic' at the supermarket, we have created something fun, functional, and full of character, just like the music that inspired it. "The 'Lidl by Lidl' jacket is more than just merch – it's a tribute to our fans, the moments, and the memories that have defined the last three decades." supermarket's website for £30 at 10am on Thursday, July 10.
