"Rainfall totals in general in these areas will range between 15-20mm, but some areas, especially upland areas could see totals of between 25-35mm, perhaps even a little more over the mountains."
While the northwest counties are set to battle the heavy rain conditions, the majority of the country will experience warm, humid conditions with clouds increasing during the afternoon.

And some rain is expected to spread eastwards during the late afternoon and evening.
Cathal revealed that for the rest of the week, it will bring "mostly settled conditions" on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, with odd showers developing in parts of the east and northeast of the country.
Temperatures will reach the highs between 17 and 20 degrees Celsius.
However, the settled conditions wouldn't last for long as the following weekend is expected to see "more mixed" conditions.

Temperatures could reach up to 23C in parts of the country on Monday before dropping to just 8C in a cloudy night.
Tuesday and Wednesday are set for more rain and cloud with "temperatures dropping back from recent highs".
And the nights will be "cooler" too Met Eireann have warned.

New weather maps are indicating a huge shift in the weather across Ireland in the coming days. Weather experts at published a new set of maps on Sunday suggesting a significant shift in temperatures on Tuesday. The new charts turn blue over Ireland on Tuesday morning, signalling a significant temperature drop. The temperatures across the country on Tuesday will, according to Met Eireann, "feel cooler". The drop in temperatures are in stark contrast to what people have been enduring all over the country in recent days. In parts of the east on Sunday, the mercury reached as high as 26°C.
