Led by its President Datuk V. Jothi JP, it distributed goody bags containing daily necessities and festive treats and brought a specially decorated cake to mark the occasion. 'Today is about honouring the sacrifices, strength, and unconditional love of mothers many of whom have shaped not just families but entire communities. 'Our presence here is a humble gesture to show them they are seen, valued, and remembered,' Jothi said. Excellence Service Award for 51 Mindef staff in Sabah

Kota Kinabalu: The Defence Ministry (Mindef) Sabah has awarded 51 of its personnel with the 2024 Excellent Service Award (APC) in appreciation of their commitment, dedication and integrity in carrying out their duties. Mindef Secretary-General Datuk Lokman Hakim Ali described the award recipients as role models and exemplary figures among the Ministry's staff in Sabah. 'This award carries great significance, as out of the many Mindef personnel in Sabah, only 51 individuals have been acknowledged for their excellence. This proves that they possess strong values of integrity, dedication and a high level of commitment in their respective roles. 'The qualities of excellence shown by award recipients should not stop at this recognition alone but must be continuously practised with consistency in their daily work,' he said when officiating the award presentation ceremony here. Lokman said the success of any organisation does not rely solely on individuals, but requires cooperation and coordinated teamwork in fulfilling each person's roles and responsibilities. 'Each of us plays a role. The smallest task, if carried out properly by each individual, will contribute to major achievements for the organisation. 'The spirit of teamwork must continue to be nurtured at all levels to foster a harmonious, conducive and productive work environment. 'We are the architects of our own work environment. If any one of us fails to function effectively, the ideal working atmosphere we aspire will not be achieved,' he added. Zoo Negara Heard You! KeeperKu Programme May Soon Be Open To Adult Volunteers

In an Instagram post, the zoo said it heard your wishes and is planning to allow adult volunteers to help out with day-to-day zoo responsibilities. Details are not confirmed yet so eager participants are asked to stay tuned to the zoo's social media for the big reveal. The news have already gotten The KeeperKu Programme is usually open for students aged 16 and above in schools, colleges, and universities but not for adults. Under this programme, volunteers get to work alongside animals on Wildlife Husbandry & Enrichment as well as assist zoo staff in other departments such as Education, Public Relations, Customer Service, Veterinary Hospital, and Park & Gardens. TLDR: This includes cleaning animal enclosures and feeding them. It's honest hard work but it's worth it and can be a fun experience for animal lovers. World's largest pitcher plant on display at Borneo Flora Festival in Labuan

LABUAN: Seven types of pitcher plants, including the world's largest, were brought in specially from Kinabalu Park to be exhibited at the Borneo Flora Festival (BFF) here. Sabah Parks (TTS) Botanist Sukaibin Sumail said the largest pitcher plant known as 'Nepenthes rajah' is placed in an air-conditioned tent at the Permata Hutan Borneo. "This pitcher plant, locally known as Kukuanga, can hold about 3.5 litres of water," he told Bernama when met at the BFF site here. The event, which runs for five days, is set to conclude tomorrow (July 30). The BFF, which involves 31 exhibitors from Sabah, Sarawak, Brunei and Kalimantan, is being held for the first time at the Labuan International Marine Sports Complex. He said other pitcher plants exhibited at BFF are Nepenthes villosa, Nepenthes edwardsiana, Nepenthes stenophylla, Nepenthes burbidgeae, Nepenthes lowii and Nepenthes reinwardtiana Sukaibin said visitors showed great interest in learning about the pitcher plant,s and he was delighted to share information about the rare species, which is seldom seen in public. In the same tent, a Bernama survey found that the Borneo Tropical Flowers section featured a tree decorated with fresh blooms and illuminated by light-emitting diode (LED) lights, creating a magical ambience within the enclosed space. At the base of the tree, various fresh flowers, including orchids, sunflowers and lilies, are beautifully arranged and accentuated with LED lighting. To preserve the condition of the fresh flowers, only 25 visitors were allowed in at a time. Guests are also welcomed by the natural, sweet fragrance of the 'sundal malam' flower upon entering the tent. Outside the tent, a three-meter-high replica of Tombiruo stands as a powerful symbol and reminder for humans to respect nature, uphold taboos and maintain harmony with nature. Crafted from driftwood, the striking sculpture is the result of a collaboration between local residents, members of the Faculty of Arts and Creative Multimedia at the Sabah Foundation College University, and carving, art and Borneo Heritage enthusiasts.
