Al-Duhail part ways with French coach Galtier
The 58-year-old's Al-Duhail side finished second in the league, two points behind Al-Sadd, who beat them in the Qatar Cup final on penalties. They also exited the Emir Cup early.
"The management of Al Duhail Sports Club extends its sincere thanks and appreciation to the technical director of the first team, Mr Christophe Galtier, and his coaching staff following the end of his contract with the club. We wish them all the best in their next endeavors," the club said on X.
Al-Duhail appointed former Paris St Germain manager Galtier in October 2023 to replace Argentine Hernan Crespo. REUTERS

Jota, a Liverpool forward, and his younger brother Andre Silva were killed in a car accident in northwestern Spain on Thursday morning when their Lamborghini veered off the road and caught fire. Tributes have continued to pour in for Jota and Andre with footballing greats including Cristiano Ronaldo and Steven Gerrard, joining the Prime Ministers of Portugal and Britain in mourning the loss. Friday's match between Al-Hilal and Fluminense in Orlando began with players and fans observing a minute's silence in memory of Jota and Andre. Neves, one of Jota's closest friends who played with the 28-year-old during their days at Wolverhampton Wanderers, issued a touching tribute on Instagram about an hour before kick-off. Sabalenka ended British interest in the women's singles, edging a ferocious contest under the roof after requiring eight set points in the opening set and then roaring back from a 4-1 deficit in a sizzling second. "Wow! What an atmosphere, my ears are still hurting, it was super loud," a relieved Sabalenka said on court after wrapping up the win on her third match point. Spain's Carlos Alcaraz, chasing a third successive Wimbledon title, was also put through the wringer by Germany's Jan-Lennard Struff before sealing a last-16 spot with a 6-1 3-6 6-3 6-4 win. A record 36 seeds in the men's and women's singles failed to reach round three and the upsets continued on Friday as women's sixth seed Madison Keys, the Australian Open champion, and four-time major winner Naomi Osaka departed.
