Panchkula: A grand celebration of sportsmanship and youth energy unfolded on Saturday as the 6th State-Level Khel Mahakumbh was ceremonially inaugurated at Tau Devi Lal Stadium in Panchkula.
Chief minister Nayab Singh Saini declared the event open with the kick-off of a kabaddi match and extended his encouragement to all participating athletes.
Addressing the gathering, CM Saini highlighted that 15,410 athletes from across Haryana will participate in 26 different sports disciplines, showcasing their talents and aspirations. "Khel Mahakumbh is not just a tournament; it's a powerful platform that gives wings to the dreams of our youth," he said.
Saini reminded the audience that this initiative began during Haryana's Golden Jubilee year in 2017, and five successful editions have since been organised. CM Saini affirmed that preparations have already begun for Olympics 2036, with Haryana playing a proactive role. He expressed confidence that Haryana's athletes will help India win the highest number of medals in the global event.
He reiterated the vision: "Every village in Haryana should produce a sportsperson who can hoist the national flag on the international stage."
