India have rung in the changes for the second Test against England at Edgbaston, with batter Sai Sudharsan dropped and the exclusion of Kuldeep Yadav stirring debate among fans and pundits alike.
England, who lead the five-match series 1-0, won the toss and opted to bowl first on a pitch expected to assist early seam movement.
Sudharsan, who scored 0 and then 30 in the first Test at Headingley, has made way as India sought to recalibrate their top order. The 23-year-old's debut outing was underwhelming, and with the pressure of a must-win encounter, the management opted for a reshuffle.

Pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah has also been rested, as part of his workload management.
His absence has opened the door for the inclusion of Akash Deep, with Shardul Thakur also making way. The duo's exit has seen Washington Sundar and Nitish Kumar Reddy included in the XI, bringing in both versatility and fresh energy.
Poll

Yes, he needed more time
No, it was the right call
However, what has caught the most attention is the continued omission of wrist-spinner Kuldeep Yadav. Despite conditions that could assist spin later in the match, Kuldeep was once again left out.

Fans took to social media expressing disbelief over the call, particularly with the team seeking wicket-taking options on a wearing surface on Day 4 and 5.
The squad decisions meant that hundreds of reactions poured in, with one tweet reading that India would need '650 and then some magic' to win. Another argued that Sai Sudharsan being dropped was a mistake and that he should have been given more time. Being dropped the very next game after his debut did not sit well with many.

IND Vs ENG 2nd Test Day 2 FREE Live Streaming Details: When And Where To Watch India vs England Edgbaston Birmingham Test Match Live Telecast On TV, Mobile APPs Online

IND vs ENG 2nd Test Day 1: India ended Day 1 of the second Test at Edgbaston on a strong note, reaching 310/5 after early stumbles, thanks to a sublime unbeaten century from captain Shubman Gill and a resilient knock from all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja. With the series on the line after a defeat in Leeds, India showed remarkable character to claw back into the contest. Gill Leads from the Front Shubman Gill, captaining India in the absence of Rohit Sharma, rose to the occasion with a magnificent 114* on Day 1. After arriving at the crease in a tricky situation, Gill soaked up the pressure and steadily built his innings with confident stroke play and smart shot selection. This century was not just about numbers it was a captain's knock under fire. England had managed to keep India in check through the first two sessions, but Gill's resilience helped shift the momentum. Joining Gill at 211/5, Ravindra Jadeja once again displayed why he's regarded as one of India's most reliable Test all-rounders, especially in overseas conditions. His unbeaten 41 off 67 balls was crafted with patience, temperament, and timely boundaries. The pair stitched together an unbroken 99-run stand for the sixth wicket, calming nerves in the Indian dressing room and frustrating England's bowlers late into the day. Jadeja's knock not only steadied India but also gave them a shot at building a big first-innings total. Day 2 Crucial As India Eyes 500 India will look to build on the momentum on Day 2. With Shubman Gill well set and Ravindra Jadeja looking solid, the visitors will aim to push their total beyond 500 to give their depleted bowling unit missing Jasprit Bumrah a big cushion. Washington Sundar is the next man in and the team management has faith in his batting ability. His contribution will be vital as India tries to avoid a repeat of their first Test mistakes, where collapses in both innings 7 for 41 and 6 for 31 cost them dearly despite setting England a 371-run target. "Does Surprise Me": England Great On Jasprit Bumrah Missing Birmingham Test

India's pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah missed the second Test against England at Edgbaston, Birmingham as a part of workload management. He will return to the Indian playing eleven against the Three Lions in the third Test at Lord's next week, informed India captain Shubman Gill. The right-arm pacer played in the first Test at Leeds which India lost by five wickets. "Third Test being at Lord's, we think there'll be more in that pitch so we'll use him there," said Gill at the toss for the second game. It is worth noting that the Indian team management had declared at the start of the series that Bumrah will only play in three Tests out of five. While Bumrah missing the second Test seemed inevitable as per the plans of the team management, former England pacer Stuart Broad was left surprised over the decision. He added that the Indian team should not disclose prior which matches Bumrah will be part of. "A week is a very good time off for a fast bowler. (Bumrah's omission) does surprise me and what also surprised me was him saying before the series he will only play three of the five Tests. You keep those cards close to your chest and play each week as it comes. They will definitely want Bumrah at Lord's because of the movement you can get through the air, so can they risk him here?" Broad said on Sky Sports. Former India player Ravi Shastri too wanted India to play Bumrah in the Birmingham Test as the visitors are 0-1 down in the five-match series. Bumrah stood out among the India bowlers during the match in Leeds that had a flat track on offer. Terming the Birmingham Test as "very important match", Shastri said that Bumrah should have played the game. The third Test will be played at Lord's, London. The ground is tradionally known as a venue that provides help to fast bowlers, thanks to the breeze around it. India wanted Bumrah badly in the game but there is just a three-day gap between the second and the third Test, which meant that Bumrah would have played either of the two games as part of workload management.

Fashion vs Tradition: The history of Wimbledon's all-white controversies

Wimbledon 's all-white dress code, a symbol of its storied tradition, has long stirred controversy. Originally a preference in the 1870s to hide sweat - which was then seen as improper - the all-white attire became mandatory only in 1963. The shift came after Brazil's Maria Bueno wore a colorful outfit in 1962, prompting officials to formalize the rule from the next edition. As the only Grand Slam enforcing an all-white requirement, Wimbledon faces ongoing criticism for its strictness and outdated approach, even as it clings to its heritage. Roger Federer drew attention in 2013 for wearing white shoes with orange soles - quickly banned by officials. In 2014, Wimbledon tightened its rules further, mandating even visible undergarments be white. Venus Williams was asked to change a pink bra mid-match in 2017, and Nick Kyrgios flouted the code in 2022 with red Air Jordans. The change came in response to growing concerns from players about the discomfort of wearing white during their menstrual cycle. Yet enforcement remains strict - Ons Jabeur was sent back to the locker room in 2024 for wearing black during warm-up. For some, the dress code preserves Wimbledon's tradition; for others, it's an outdated restriction. The debate between fashion freedom and tradition rolls on.
